Fiona's eyes looked dull. She has brown eyes that have faded in color. So she quickly put on some makeup to make her eyes look more normal than before. She is not a big fan of using cosmetics, but she has to make herself look at least presentable in front of her in-laws. So she quickly dressed herself up and went to the living area.
She wore a light blue dress. It wasn't a formal gown but rather a simple casual dress that was elegant enough to be worn on a regular outing. With her blue dress, she put on a matching blue gladiator. She was just finishing up her hair when she heard Grace call her.
"Fiona, Justin is waiting for you in the car." Grace informed her.
So Fiona headed downstairs and sat in his car. Without even giving her a look, he started the engine. Well, this is the second time in two days that he has treated her in such a manner.
So he was going to ignore her now, which was fantastic!
What exactly did she do?
Oh yeah!
She just got him breakfast this morning, and this is what she got in return.
Amazing right??
Bloody hell! Fiona would not give him that satisfaction. He was the one who didn't show up on the night of their marriage, not the other way round. She had no intention of explaining herself to her beloved husband, especially since she had done nothing wrong. Let him find the truth by himself.
The ride was filled with uncomfortable silence. Then, after an hour which felt like an eternity, they finally reached his parents' place.
It would be an understatement if she called his home small. It was pretty huge, but it still felt cozy yet comfortable. When the door opened, his mother's hug instantly crushed Fiona. She had a big smile plastered on her beautiful face. She was petite and had chocolate brown hair and blue eyes, just like her son. But Justin's hair was darker than hers.
"Welcome home." Sara said cheerfully.
Fiona's mother-in-law's name is Sara. When Fiona's gaze was drawn to Daniel, her father-in-law, she remembered the terms of her marriage. This caused her to glare at him. But the smile which was plastered on his face was sincere, so she smiled back at him after a long mental sigh.
She greeted them politely. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Carter."
"Please call me Sara or better mom. You are a family." Sara said genuinely. But only if she knows how much ever Fiona wants, she can never be a part of this family.
"Yes, Fiona. Call me Daniel or Dad, just like Justin. I am not your boss here." Yes! You heard it right. Daniel Carter, the father of Justin, is Fiona's boss. She works for him in his company. Justin works for another branch of the same firm.
"Sure, Sara and Daniel." Her in-laws were a bit disappointed that she called them by name but chose to ignore it as they knew that it was going to take time for their daughter-in-law to get used to everything.
But in reality, Fiona would have called them mom and dad. Still, she could not do that because she didn't feel that she had a right to call them that yet plus her relationship with Justin was very complicated, and not forget the uncertainty of the time of their marriage. In addition to that, she didn't want him to be angry by being too comfortable with his parents.
When they entered their home, Justin's sibling, Aaron, who resembled his elder brother, greeted them. He might have been a few years younger than him, and his personality screamed that of a player.
Soon, they were all sitting in the dining hall and eating lunch. Fiona was deep in thought until Daniel complimented her. "Fiona, you did an outstanding job with your presentation. You took your time and gave an excellent presentation as a newlywed. I really appreciate the fact that, for the past week, you have been working from home. You are one of the most reliable and best employees in my company. I am very proud of you."
Before she could even thank him, Fiona heard a small clank beside her and saw a shocked look on Justin's face. Well, he finally got his facts correct, that she had been working just like him for the past seven days. The only difference is that she is doing it from home instead of at the office.
"You okay, Justin?" His dad and mum asked with concern.
"Y... Yes... Mum, everything is fine. The spoon just slipped." He stuttered... Well, it's clear that he was surprised by the new information.
His mother just shrugged and continued eating. Fiona was enjoying this lunch more than she expected.
They were on their way back home when Justin suddenly stopped in front of a Wal-Mart. The event that took place at his parents' place still stunned Justin. He wanted a breather, so he took off to Wal-Mart without telling her. He left Fiona alone in the car and entered the store, explaining nothing to her, making her frown. He was aware that it was a wrong move on his part. But it was his impulse reaction, which he has been doing more than ever lately. Doing better than nothing, Fiona got out of the car and followed Justin inside the store. But she took a different direction, went towards the books section, and started checking them out. She picked up a few of them, which she had been longing to read for a long time, and walked towards the payment counter. When she came to the counter, she saw Justin carrying dozens of packets of different kinds of chocolates. It came as a shocker to her that the CEO of one of the leading companies in the industry was obsessed
After thinking for such a long time, Justin concluded that he should apologize to her for his harsh behavior. He should clear the air between them. When he was about to say something, Fiona's phone rang. "Hey... Yeah, it's been good... I can't skip work for my marriage, you know... Even if... I miss you guys... (With a laugh). Awe, I love you too, Mason and Emmy... Hmm... Cool, see you at seven... Of course, I have been longing to have fun with my two best buddies; as it is, it has been a while since we have hung out... Okay. cool, see you then." In the last part, where she talked about having fun, Justin felt extremely guilty and couldn't say anything to her. But as for Fiona, she could finally enjoy herself after a long time. Hanging out with Mason and Emily always brings a smile to her face. So today, they decided to hang out at a DJ pub and, for once, she was going to let herself loose. She is not an alcoholic, but once in a while, she drinks. Mas
Fiona's words still stunned Justin. He sat on the couch thinking about all the things she had told him. She is the most beautiful person he has ever laid eyes on. It might sound a bit cliché, but it's the truth. This is not because of how he treated her, but because he still remembers the day when he first met her. He met his wife two months ago at a business party. He had heard about her through his father. His father, Daniel, was always babbling about her traits and sincerity towards her work. And if he gives it some thought, indeed, she is sincere and diligent. The presentation that she prepared was very promising. Fiona did her work cleverly. She has been working with his father for the past two years, but he couldn't meet her due to his work. But two months ago, Justin finally met her at a business party. Fiona looked pretty that day. She wore a red dress which fitted her perfectly. The dress was not too flashy. It was plain and simple, which looked beau
Fiona woke up with a nasty headache the following day. She was suffering from a terrible hangover. She was trying to sit up, but the pain in her head was not letting her. She wasn't even able to open her eyes. The hangover was excruciating. After a few minutes, she felt someone helping her to sit, who also gave her a pill and water. Her eyes were still closed, so she assumed it was Grace who was helping her; she willingly accepted it and drifted off into a peaceful slumber. Fiona woke up again, but at eight in the morning. Her head ached even more. She is a light drinker, and she drank a lot. That's the reason why painkillers have little effect on her body. She forced herself up, took a bath, and went to the dining area with her coffee. Only coffee could help her to get rid of this hangover. If not rid, then at least it would lessen it a bit. She took a cup of coffee and sat in front of Justin at the dining table. He was reading the newspaper and thre
Justin picked Fiona up in a bridal style and laid her down on the couch. Fiona felt some drops of water on her face. She slowly opened her eyes and saw the two worried faces frowning at her. After realizing that it was Justin, she frowned. But when she saw Grace giving her a concerned look, she asked. "What happened?" Before Grace could explain herself, Justin spoke up, "You fainted. You got us worried..." He was rambling too fast for his own good, which made him look cute. After a while, Grace interrupted him, "You fainted out there. I think it's because your BP is low. You even look pale." Fiona agreed with her. "Maybe. I am feeling exhausted and weak." She asked, "What you ate today? And you don't dare to lie to me." "Coffee," Fiona answered. Justin was silently listening to them. "Just coffee! No wonder you look pale and hungry. I cannot believe you, Fiona. A working girl like you should eat every two hours
Fiona was delighted at this moment. She didn't expect Justin to apologize to her, but she was glad that he did so. It was unexpected that he wanted to befriend her and wanted to start over. But, hey! Who is she to complain about it? She knows that his harsh behavior towards her was not acceptable, but everyone deserves a second chance. Justin was so relieved that she accepted his apology along with his friendship. Grace soon made her presence known in the room. She prepared soup for Fiona and also cooked spaghetti for her, which Fiona gladly accepted. After finishing off her food, Fiona looked way better than before, and her eyes were twinkling. She looked cute during Grace's lecture. Yes, Grace was lecturing her about how she shouldn't skip meals, to which she was nodding her head vigorously, which made her look adorable. She even lectured Justin about how he should treat her. Finally, Grace was interrupted by the doorbell. She stood up and opened th
Fiona slowly opened her eyes and turned to switch off her alarm. Her eyes were wide when she saw the time. "Holy crap! I am going to be late." She quickly got up and rushed to the bathroom. She took a bath and was simultaneously brushing her teeth. As it was Friday, Fiona could wear casual to work. So, she put on my black jeans and a casual gray top. When she ran towards the living area, she was stopped dead in her tracks. Justin was in the kitchen, cooking. When he felt her presence, he turned around to find a shocked Fiona looking at him curiously. "You can cook?" She asked him curiously. "Yes, pretty much. I enjoy cooking." Justin shrugged. "That is so cool; I would prefer to eat rather than cook." She stated. "Really, well, that's pretty unusual for a woman to say, but then it means I have more chances to cook. So it's a win-win situation for me." He cracked a grin. "By the way, what's the rush? You all dressed up." He aske
After the tour of their new home, they were both famished, so they decided to have a quick brunch at Mac Donald's. It is rare for girls to adore burgers nowadays since they have become so conscious of their figures. So, they have started to survive on salad. Nonetheless, it was unusual and refreshing for Justin to see his wife not be afraid to eat food she enjoys. 'This day could not get any better; first amazing house, then Mac Donald's. This was the very first thought when Fiona entered her paradise: Mac Donald's. "Look who we have here."Said a familiar voice. The shock would be an understatement when she turned her face. Well, guess what? Fiona spoke too soon about this day being amazing. She had mixed feelings. Shock, betrayal, hurt, anger, and the list goes on. "Long time Fiona, no see. So how are you, and who this hearty hunk beside you?" She smirked and winked at Justin, to which he frowned. She wasn't giving Justin any ki
