Chapter 7: Shopping

Seeing Azura worried, Vincent asked her gently.

“What's wrong with you?”

“I'm fine, I'm fine… I go to the kitchen to cook some food for you.”

Vincent knows Azura is hiding something, but she doesn't want to tell him.

It's a little cloudy today. Azura can't see any sunlight. Maybe it's going to rain. Azura sat idly by the window. Remembering the invitation Aurora sent to Vincent and her, Azura worried again.

What has Azura's life been like over the years?  She can only be described in one word... Tragic.

At the age of ten, she lost her mother. She thinks she has a father until she follows her father home. She lived a life of humiliation and doom.

Her life has not had a good day. Currently, she is living happily with Vincent. She is afraid to go to Meredith's home.

But this time, Azura still had to go banquet because she was Vincent's wife.

At night, the two still slept in the same bed. At this time, Vincent asked her.

"Are you worried about Aurora's party?"

"I have no worries..."

"You don't have to lie to me."

"I'm afraid I'll make you lose face."

Vincent took Azura's hand. This was the first time he had actively touched her.

His hand was warm, holding her cold hand. He was like a fire that warmed her lonely heart in her harsh life.

He is very handsome but rarely smiles. Now he is smiling at her making her blush.

"Don't worry. I'll protect you."

Can she trust him? Is someone going to protect her? Vincent knows that Azura is very defensive. She wouldn't trust him. She dares not to trust anyone. But what he said is true. He will protect her for the rest of his life.

Vincent took Azura out today. He wanted to take her shopping. Since marrying him, he has never bought her anything. Her clothes should also be changed. Now she is the wife of Vincent John, a rich and noble man.

Vincent is very famous. When he walks on the street, people will notice him. Azura walking beside is a bit timid. He's rich, he's handsome, and he's the man people want to marry. And she, from the countryside, is not very beautiful, has no position, and is even less educated. She still remembers she's just a replacement for Aurora. But Azura didn't think about Vincent's leg, who was also disabled. Before, she wasn't worthy of him. But now it's because Aurora doesn't want to marry Vincent. She forced Azura to marry Vincent on her behalf. Currently, Azura is officially the wife that Vincent recognizes. She is worthy of him.

It doesn't matter if she doesn't deserve him or if he doesn't match her. Importantly, Azura was the first person Vincent noticed. She feels good being around him, and he feels no pressure being around her. They are happy. Just the two people are comfortable with each other. What right do outsiders have to say that they are matched or not?

But she is self-deprecating. She always feels unworthy of him and insecure in her relationship with him. She was nominally his wife, but nothing ever happened between him and her.

Vincent saw her get to stay away from him, so he stopped to wait for her. Until Azura stood beside him, he gently took her hand, smiling slightly at her. That smile is like the warm sun dispelling the dark clouds in her heart.

"Tomorrow, you have to come with me to Meredith's house for a party. You need to dress up more elegantly. I can choose a dress for you, okay?"

Azura doesn't know how to choose these. She's never been to a party. During the house party, her mother never let her join the party. She could only stay upstairs, in her room, and she not let her make a sound.

Vincent knew Azura didn't like revealing clothes, so he chose an elegant light blue dress and gave it to her.

"Can you try on this dress so I can see it?"

Azura entered the fitting room. She struggled for a while but still couldn't zip the back of her dress. Someone knocked on the door, causing Azura to panic even more.

"If you can't zip the back of the dress, you can ask the staff for help."

Azura opened the door to look at Vincent. Azura's pitiful voice came out.

"I can't zip the back of my dress. Can you help me?"

The corner of Vincent's mouth curled up slightly. Azura's shyness is always the cutest moment.

With the help of the staff. Beautiful Azura in a new dress stood in front of Vincent. She matches the dress very well. She has a fragility that makes others want to protect her. She is as pure as the morning sun without any dust.

Vincent stared at her, making her blush in embarrassment.

"Does it suit me?"

"Very nice. You should choose some more clothes to wear at home, some clothes to wear out."

"There's no need to buy me that much. I don't need to go out either."

She went out as a disgrace to Vincent, fearing that the Johns would be like the Merediths before, treating her as dirty.

"I said buy is bought. You have to choose."

"But I don't know how to choose. The prices here are too high."

Azura's voice whispered.

"I can afford to buy it for you."

But it was Vincent's money anyway. Azura was afraid to use Vincent's money.

Vincent buys her many things, causing her to resort to the driver's help to carry all the clothes he buys for her.

She followed him home and had dinner with him. She looked at him, not knowing what to say.

"You buy me so many things. Is it because I usually dress in the countryside to shame you?"

Azura was sensitive, Vincent had noticed, and he smiled at her.

"I want to buy new things for you because you are my wife. I want to give you the best. I also want to ask you. Do you consider me a disabled person?"

"I don't consider you a disabled person. It's that your legs can't walk. You can do many other things."

Vincent smiled, and he also answered her question.

"I don't think you're a country girl. You've just never lived like a noble girl before. But now it's different. You are my wife, the wife of the CEO of a big real estate company."

This is his promise, his affirmation to her. It also makes her feel more secure that he is still by her side.
