Chapter 15: The Alpha’s Test

Cold water splashed on my face and I sprang up, coughing and spluttering.

I gasped, inhaling a startled breath.

I glared at the culprit. With the little pail in his hands, he looked at me stonily.

"The Alpha asked for you."

"And that was the best way to wake me?" I lashed at him.

He threw me a derogatory look that shocked me. I didn't know this man. Had never had anything to do with him. Why did his eyes hold so much derision?

He sneered and I hated him even more. "I will wake you however it pleases me to." He kicked the lantern so hard, it hit the cell bars and the glove shattered.

I flinched, my hands going up to my face to shield me from any stray glass.

He walked out of the cell and waited a few seconds before he turned and snarled the words, "Move your ass," at me.

I stepped around the glass and walked out of the cell, breathing in and out.

We walked down the aisle between the rows of cells and came out to a wider space. He led the way as we climbed up a short flight of stai
