Chapter 18 – Hardship

She couldn’t stop grinning and feeling happy for the rest of the day.

When Lily called, she went over to her place to celebrate with her. She brought their favorite food and a bottle of wine.

Her friend is happy for her but she’s worried, too. Mel could be flexible. She can adapt to many situations… she should be good. Right?

When she returned to Klyde’s place, she’s a little tipsy. But her energy is still high. Her smile was as wide as it could be as she approached the master of the house.

The man frowned at her figure. He could already tell she’s not sober. That expression on her face is a little sickening as he’s unfamiliar with it.

“Where have you been?” His tone was hostile but she doesn’t seem to mind.

“Oh, just a little celebration with my friend.” She grinned stupidly as she reached for his arm and clung to it.

“I got a job!” She stated it in a sing-song. Her voice was not unpleasant.

Klyde pursed his lips, “It’s good that you got a job, but do you have to come home drunk?”
