EVEN early in the morning, Heart had already made arrangements to visit the hospital to check on her father who had undergone surgery. She had intended not to sleep last night, but exhaustion overcame her, causing her to fall asleep while waiting for an update from Lumeng.

When the young woman woke up, there were text messages from her mother, indicating that the operation had been completed, but her father hadn’t been brought back to his room yet. However, the doctor had reported that her father’s condition was stable. She felt immense relief upon receiving this news, and a weight lifted off her shoulders. Her worries had lessened, and she could focus on work, at least to some extent.
