Eighteen

Alicia's POV

The ride from home to the orphanage might have been short but felt like the longest ride I'd been on in a long time. The last time I stepped foot in that orphanage was a year before I got married.

After I left at eighteen, I still went back to help around with some chores or paperwork that was within my capacity.

Grandma Mary had mentioned the affairs of the orphanage to me before she died and it was never a dream of mine or even a thought that she would leave the orphanage to me.

"We're here," The driver announced and I squeezed a smile out of her nervousness.

"Thank you. I'll let you know once I'm done,"

Nathan introduced the driver to me this morning as my personal driver. If I wanted, I could drive myself. Since I didn't feel too excited about driving, I asked for the man to bring me.

As I stepped out of the car, the lawyer was already waiting outside the orphanage for me.

"Good morning, Mrs. Lancaster,"

"You could've waited for me inside, it's cold outside, Lawy
