My eyes slowly flutter open, and I look around, Samantha is sitting on the floor with her legs under the coffee table, some files and paperwork are spread out on the table and she is looking through them and taking notes. The TV is on and occasionally, she stops working and looks at the screen. I look at the TV, not recognizing the show but a couple of the characters are also hanging on her wall so it must be one she enjoys. Too bad the show is in a language I do not understand.
My mate has not realized I am awake yet, so I take the opportunity to just watch her quietly. Her face is scrunched up as she is deep in thought. She is wearing jeans and a forest green top; her green ribbon has tied her hair back into a low ponytail and she is again wearing her brown gloves. After a few minutes she stops and stretches her arms up and arches her back and I can’t help but stare at her chest. My face goes flush as I can feel my heart sped up. I’m almost c
“So, first thing on the agenda is formally introducing ourselves to our new members. We will go in order of rank. So, I will go first.” Samantha said as she looked between me and Lily. “My name is Samantha Silver, and I am the Alpha here. You may call me Alpha, Samantha, Sam, or any combination beginning with Alpha. As your alpha I am responsible for the smooth running of the pack. I oversee everyone here and they each have their own jobs that they are responsible for. If you have any problems, feel free to approach me with them and I will ensure that you have the assistance you need.” Samantha smiled and looked over at me. I looked around the table and waited for the next person to speak, she said by order of rank, right? That means Violet should be next, but she is just staring at me expectantly.Wait a minute....I look at Samantha who is giving me an encouraging smile. Damn it I have never been good at public speaking.
Sometime later we walked out of the meeting, my mind could barely even function anymore. Although my mom wasn’t there, many of the visiting Lunas were and they were all commenting on how beautiful and smoothly everything ran last night. If only they knew what happened in the early morning hours. Please for the love of the Goddess tell me we are done with meetings and paperwork for a bit, even though I have spent almost all day with Samantha I was getting desperate for some personal time with her. I was getting tired of sharing her with everyone. “Excuse me, Alpha Sam.” My father said as we headed back towards the lounge. “All of my unmated wolves are starting to return to our pack, could I go ahead and take the uh.... prisoner?” “Oh, of course. I’ll take you down there. Would you like some assistance moving her to your pack? I’m sure I have a few guards who wouldn’t mind half a day away.” Samantha smiled as she gla
We walked back into the packhouse, me and Samantha making small talk. I found out she really likes bright colors; her favorite color of the week is light blue. I was about to ask why when she stopped suddenly, a small smirk on her mouth. “Oh dear!” She said in a mock exasperation. She looked over at me and winked playfully. “I feel like I’m in danger!” She lifted her arm to her forehead in an overly dramatic manner.A small giggle came from behind the loveseat nearby. I stifled a laugh from myself, it must be a child from the packhouse.“Whatever shall I do?” Samantha whined, as she turned her back on the sofa, inching closer to it. A louder giggle answered. Just then a girl about 7 or 8 tackled her from behind and quickly climbed on Samantha's back and hugged her neck.“I gotchu Alpha!” The girl laughed. She had ginger colored hair pulled into two pigtails on her hea
“Uhhh....dumb phone.” Samantha grumbled as she stretched. “You feel asleep too?” She smirked as she slowly got up. “Ugh we got to get ready for dinner now.”“Oh, yeah.” I said as I stood up and stretched. “What about after?” I asked as I turned off the TV, the show forgotten as we would have to start over again anyway. Samantha folded the blanket back up as her phone started to chirp.“I have some meetings. Violet has gotten meetings set up with all the wolves who will be transferring in or out of the pack along with the corresponding alphas. Each meeting is allotted about 20 minutes and we will get started tonight. It’s important to get started quickly so we can be finished quickly.”I nodded, not looking forward to more work but I understood this was an important task to be completed. “How many meetings are we looking at?”
“Oh, my Goddess, it’s a damn miracle.” I heard Greg whisper. “Quick take a picture!”“Is she really....” Daren started before I straightened up and looked over there. I was met with three sets of wide eyes and Violet giving us a knowing smirk. I felt my phone start to vibrate with text messages.<Do not answer that.> Violet mind linked me, <once she realizes there are pictures, she is going to make us delete them>My phone started to vibrate some more, and I noticed first Daren and then Jess slowly put their phones in their pockets. Samantha glared at them but didn’t say anything. She glanced at me gauging my reaction, but I did my best to keep a stoic face. “Alright, a couple of documents to sign and we’re done Ben.” She smiled. “Then it will be your turn Lily.” She motioned to some papers as Violet got a pen ready. “And whil
When I got back down to the room after sitting up there alone for a while Samantha was already asleep. Her breathing was slow and steady, but her face wasn’t peaceful. It was scrunched up and I could see the evidence of tears. What is she hiding from me that she is so scared of me finding out? Should I respect her privacy and wait for her to tell me voluntarily? I’m so confused. There is nothing she could ever do to hurt me, short of rejecting me. But I highly doubt that is something she would ever do.I shake my head, I’m way to wired to sleep. I grab my phone and go to sit on the couch. The TV would make too much noise, so I’ll just play a random game on my phone until I’m tired. I settle down and focus on my mate’s breathing and heartbeat as it slowly calms me.Next thing I know the sunlight is streaming through the window. I look for my phone and it is placed carefully on the end table beside me. A bla
My head is reeling. Immune to silver?! Is that why Samantha was freaking out last night? I need to see her, why didn’t she tell me sooner? Daren and Jess were both shocked I didn’t know, Lily was told almost right away, from the first night when Daren showed Lily to their room, he had left some silver weapons out and had to put them away.Honestly, I don’t care, I think it's kind of cool. But there has to be something else she is not telling me. I need to let her know it doesn’t matter to me.The walk back to the packhouse was a quiet one, it was lunchtime, and they were serving BLT’s and chips. Some of the visiting alphas were leaving, and only about half of them remained. I checked the time, it was 12:30. I wonder if Samantha has come down for lunch yet...I pull out my phone and text her.Me: Hey Love have you eaten lunch? When is your break?I hit send and poke at my
“Do you know all of the benefits of the mate bond?” Dr Banner asked again. “Not many packs use this because it is not very well known, and the packs that do know this thankfully never have to use it. But we do. And we use it to help strengthen our pack.” I stayed silent. Listening to his every word. “You have heard I’m sure of wolves feeling when their mate is in danger, in pain, and even when they pass away. Have you ever thought about why that is? Why would the Moon Goddess torture us with that knowledge?” “It's to let us know they need help, to save them from whatever danger they are in.” I answered. He nodded. “Yes, that is one reason. But what about illnesses? We also feel when our mates are sick, emotionally compromised, or have a life-threatening condition. What danger are they in then?” I shook my head, “Is it so we can get them medical help?”
