Viral News

Hugh walked into the elevator, on the top floor. Grandpa James' ICU was on the top floor, and also Lucia's resting ward. Pressing a button, he rode the elevator, to the last floor of the hospital's lobby, which was noisy. He took out his phone, to call grandpa James' assistant.

Grandpa James had provided Hugh, with his assistant's phone number. Just in case, there was an emergency. Hugh dialed the number, as soon as he got to the last floor, at that time. Lucas on the other hand, took out his phone, tiredly, hearing his phone ring, in his pocket.

He noticed it was an unsaved contact, and Lucas put the phone back into his pocket. It was unreasonable for him to do so. But Lucas had his fair share of the reporters' disturbance. He wondered who had leaked his private number, to the public.

Hugh frowned, as he walked past Lucas and the shareholders. His eyes were glued to the phone, not noticing Lucas, who was a few feets away from him. On the other hand, Lucas noticed Hugh, but he did not know how to address him. He stood up, leaving the shareholders, who were still ranting, unnecessarily.

Lucas walked hurriedly, trying to catch up with Hugh. Hugh's ears picked up the hurried footsteps behind him, he turned back and noticed Lucas. He stopped, seeing who he was trying to reach. "When did you get here?" Hugh spoke first, knowing Lucas did not accompany them to the hospital.

Lucas was surprised at first, that Hugh had taken the initiative to talk to him. He had always thought that Hugh was cold and unapproachable. He quickly composed himself, and said, "I came as soon as I could. The shareholders are ranting endlessly." Lucas said the main reason why he was there.

Lucas knew that leaving the company when the CEO wasn't present, was unwise. But he needed to calm the shareholders, knowing what those leeches could do. He also wanted to be the one to get to the CEO, before the shareholders could. Hugh nodded his head, at Lucas.

"The CEO's granddaughter wants to see you." Hugh said and Lucas nodded, but he looked puzzled. Hugh noticed the puzzlement in Lucas' eyes, but he didn't make any effort to correct him. It wasn't his place to. "Where is she?" Lucas asked, not because he wanted to see Lucia.

But because he wanted to know why he was needed. Different thoughts were running in Lucas' head, 'Does she want to blame me over something?' He asked himself. Knowing how the so-called heiresses that he had met at different events behaved. He thought Lucia would be just like them.

"She is at a resting ward." Hugh said simply. Lucas expected him to say on what floor the ward was. Hugh kept mum, before he added, "I want to go get her food, you should wait." Hugh said, not bothering to say anything else, leaving Lucas in his thoughts.

Hugh's words further intensified Lucas' negative thoughts about Lucia. And now, he didn't look forward to seeing Lucia. He would see her all because she was related to his boss. Lucas walked back to the shareholders, who had curious looks in their eyes. "He is not important." Lucas quickly said.

The shareholders looked at Lucas in suspicion, "Why? He might know how to get to the CEO. He has access to the hospital." A shareholder who had seen Hugh walk out of the elevator said loudly. Hugh wasn't dressed shabbily, so the shareholder didn't think of him as a worker.

Lucas shook his head tiredly. The shareholders were wearing his patience thin. "I will go check him, outside." Lucas said wearily, just to get out of the shareholders' frustrating sight. The shareholders nodded at him, while their eyes were still on him. They were expecting him to do so immediately.

Hugh walked outside the hospital, he noticed reporters with cameras lurking around. He frowned and took out his mobile phone, to check the news. He remembered Lucia's words about the news of grandpa James' illness. Hugh was surprised at what he saw. The media had twisted everything about grandpa Hugh.

Hugh scrolled through the news, he read how the news about grandpa Hugh being on his deathbed. But another piece of news had started to circulate on the internet, he could see Lucia's pictures, and he frowned. Lucia's face was covered and she looked like she was deliberately avoiding the cameras.

Hugh quickly read through the news, knowing it concerned Lucia's safety and well-being. There were speculations that Lucia and the man beside her had done something to the CEO of Alix Enterprise. The news originated from Alix Enterprise itself, where nosy and curious employees had granted an audience to the reporters.

He read how the employees testified that they had seen a strange car, drive into the company's parking lot for high-ranked employees. And the next thing they saw was two strangers following the CEO's wheeled stretcher out of the company building. The employees may not have intended to implicate Lucia.

The reporters had twisted the employees' words, in their articles. They could only write and not record the employees' voices and faces. Just because they wanted to avoid the internet's attention on them. The articles had spread widely, and Hugh was reading the article, with undisguised anger in his eyes.

Hugh put his phone into his pocket and looked at the reporters. Right now, they weren't here for grandpa James alone, but also for Lucia. He had also been photographed alongside Lucia, but his face was blurry. This further intensified the internet users' belief that two 'strangers' had hurt the CEO.

The reporters' news source, was the employees. Why would the gullible internet users not believe the employees who were at the scene? Even though they didn't know who Lucia was as she was putting on a mask. They felt they should get justice for the CEO who worked tirelessly.

Alix Enterprise was famous and so was the CEO. Though he was old, he had his loyal fans, who thought that he was loving. They didn't care to find out what happened to grandpa James. They ignited hatred from millions of internet users against someone whose face they didn't know.

Hugh took a deep breath after observing his surroundings, even though his face was not shown clearly in the viral pictures. The sharp reporters could still recognize him, due to his clothes and physique. He was also walking out of the hospital, which would further confirm their suspicion of him.

Hugh walked stealthily and avoided the reporters. Even though some reporters had recognized Hugh, they couldn't walk up to him, at the hospital entrance. Knowing the security guards would push them back, harshly. They thought they would get hold of Hugh immediately he was a bit far from the hospital.

Hugh disappointed the reporters, he immediately hailed a cab and got in. He needed to get back home, for a change of clothes and disguises for Lucia and also for himself. Hugh told the cab driver to get him to a particular address which was where he lived with Lucia.

Hugh's phone rang out in his pocket, he took it out. He scrunched his face in impatience at the name of the caller. It was X. Hugh couldn't ignore his call, as X would be of help to him. Hugh picked up the call, "What is it?" Hugh said, slowly.

X chuckled on the phone, hearing Hugh's impatient voice. "How does being in the news feel like?" X said tauntingly. Hugh knew that if anyone didn't recognize him, X would. "Why do you ask?" Hugh threw a question back at him. "It's attention-grabbing, I like it." Hugh added.

His words made X irked. X's next words sounded harsh, "Do you want to get into trouble? You know you shouldn't be known, not even that way." X said and Hugh pinched his eyebrows. He knew what his words would ignite but he said it anyway, just to irk X.

Hugh was tired of X' words. It was not the first time X scolded him, but he could not deny that what X said was true. X's next words made Hugh growl, startling the driver. The driver quickly turned back to look at Hugh and asked, slightly scared, "Did you hear that?"

Hugh scolded himself for almost giving himself out. He put on an innocent expression, "Hear what?" He asked the driver. The driver who had already turned to look at the road, turn back to look at Hugh, "Like the growl of an animal. I must be imagining things." The driver said.

Hugh nodded his head and breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't care how the driver had indirectly called him an animal. He put the phone back to his ear. He could hear X's harsh scolding again, "Did you hear that? You could have given yourself away. It would be disastrous."
