Mia POV.
I’m laying on the familiar bed, but I don’t see them anywhere. Something is wrong. Looking around my surroundings, I realise I’m actually in my bedroom.
“Hello, anyone there?” I call out and my voice echoes into the darkness. Pulling myself up, I shuffle to the side of the bed and stand.
“Mia,” I hear it echo and I turn around, looking around for him. The man from the diner.
“Mia,” I follow the voice in a trancelike state. I see a door up ahead. I move towards the door and place my hand on the handle and push the door open and I’m blinded by pure bright white light. Shielding my eyes with my arm. I let my eyes adjust to the light. Before shapes take form.
I’m standing in a field on top of a hill. Looking out over the area, it is beautiful. I take a step forward; the grass is soft under my bare feet and the air is warm; the sun is high in the sky and there are no clouds in sight.
“Mia,” I turn my head to the side and I’m standing at the treeline. The trees are enormous. They look like they are touching the heavens, and I hear my name called again. It’s coming from the forest.
I step beyond the treeline and walk for what seems like forever. The smell of the earth invades my nose and it calms me.
“Mia,” I stop and realise I am now in front of a mansion at the foot of a mountain. It’s breathtaking.
“Hello, anyone there?” calling out as I take in the grandeur of this house. The solid oak front door opens and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and goosebumps erupt on my skin.
The voice calls me again, and my feet move on their own. I try to look around, but I can’t see anything; the path is lit but the surroundings are dark.
“Mia,” the voice grows louder and my feet move faster up the stairs and down a corridor. Before I realise what is happening, I open a door. The room is shrouded in darkness and my heart beats wildly against my ribcage.
“Hello,” I call out and my voice echoes again. I step forward and fall. I scream and brace myself for my imminent death. But it doesn’t come. I land on something soft.
I look around and see I’m on a bed that isn’t my own. It’s huge, you can easily fit several people in it. I hear a noise from the side of me and slowly turn my head and gasp at what I’m seeing.
The two men from the diner are kissing each other, their hands moving over each other’s naked bodies, and I can’t tear my eyes away. I feel the ache in between my legs just watching them kissing. My breath catches in my throat. Which pulls them both out of the kiss. Both of them look at me and I can see hunger in their eyes. My heart beats frantically, I’m not scared they will never hurt me.
I go to speak when soft lips crash against mine, and my back hits the soft sheets. A moan leaves my lips.
He pulls away from me and gazes into my eyes and I gaze into his ice-blue eyes; I shiver and he chuckles.
“We don’t have a lot of time, my love.” He says as he moves away from me and I become confused.
Pulling myself up on my elbows, I look at them both, my eyes trail down their naked muscular chests and I bite my bottom lip as my gaze travels lower. It’s only fair. My eyes widen at the what lies between their legs. Fuck! They are hung. Their cocks are thick and long. I instinctively close my legs.
“Mia, we mean you no harm. You belong with us and only us. I have been searching for you for thousands of years. You are ours.” I tilt my head to the side and look at him.
“This doesn’t make sense. Who are you both?” I ask as I look him in the eye and I feel safe, like this is home. They won’t hurt me. Well, the one who has spoken won’t but the other one I’m not too sure.
“I’m Fen and this is my mate, Theo.” There’s that word again.
“Oh, I see. So you two are like friends with benefits, yeah?” I ask as I notice they both have similar marks on the area between the shoulder and neck. It looks like… like teeth marks.
I move back subconsciously and every cell in my body is screaming at me to run. But I can’t I’m rooted to the bed.
Theo chuckles at me, and I turn my gaze on him. He is more scary that Fen.
“Something like that, but you are ours and that will never change. So you better get used to it.” He says with a sinister chuckle, and I freeze. I was wrong, so fucking wrong. This Theo will definitely hurt me.
“Mia.” I turn and look at Fen as he crawls closer to me and takes my face in his hands, and I feel tingly.
“We won’t leave you now that we have found you. You will always be safe with us. Rest, my love. We will see you again soon.” He kisses me again. It’s softer. I try to ask a question when I open my eyes with my alarm going off.
It was another dream. Holy hell, it was different. Is this possible? They are here for me? My brain has turned to mush as I try to process what Fen said. ‘Thousands of years’ what the fuck? How is that even possible?
The marks on them. My eyes widen, and I jump out of bed and run towards the bookshelf in the living room. And find the book on wolves and lycanthropy. Don’t ask me why I am fascinated with this subject. I believe there was always a nugget of truth in every myth and legend.
Flipping through the book, I see the picture of the tattoo and my head spins. Nope. I shut the book and put it back. Fiddling with my fingers, I start to pace the floor in the living room. I bite my fingers when my phone rings. Snapping out of my thoughts, I run back to see it’s Gina.
“Hey, where are you?” I pull the phone away and see the time. Fuck! I’m late.
“Sorry, babe, time escaped me. Give me half an hour and I’ll be there, OK?” I say as I run towards the bathroom and turn the shower on.
“Ok, girl, don’t rush. I’ve got you covered, see you soon.” She says before hanging up. I rip my shorts and vest top off and climb into the shower and get washed at record speed.
Climbing out, I get dried as quick as I can. Running in to my bedroom and ripping drawers open to throw on my underwear and bra, grabbing jeans I pull them on but my legs are slightly wet, so it takes longer.
Grabbing a t-shirt, I throw it over my head as I head back into the bathroom and quickly brush my teeth. Leaving the bathroom, I grab a hair tie off the bedside unit and start ripping my hair up into a messy bun on top of my head and head into the living room. Sitting on the sofa, I throw on my converse and grab everything before running out the door.
Running down the stairs of the apartment building, I finally exit and run towards the diner.
Pulling the door open, I finally breathe a deep breath. I got here on time. But fucking hell, I really need to get in shape. Sweat is glistening on my forehead. I dump my stuff behind the counter and make a start on the morning rush.
Today is going to be a nightmare. I can just feel it.
Fenrir POV.Coming out of the dream, I know Mia has woken up. I look over at Theo, who is still blissfully asleep. We need to monitor her; I know something is going to happen to her. I can feel it in my gut.Hearing a groan from my side, I turn my gaze to Theo, who is grinding his hips against my leg, and I chuckle.“Good morning, mate.” I say to him, and he grunts in response before he moves closer to me. I watch him as he sits up, rubbing his eyes, and a yawn escapes his lips.“Morning, well, last night went well.” He says as she snuggles closer to me and I sigh.“It could have gone better. I think you scared her a little bit. Maybe tone down the moody Alpha vibe you give off. We need her to come to us willingly, not run for the hills.” I tell him and he pouts and folds his arms over his chest.“I am not moody, nor do I give off an Alpha vibe. That mister is all you,” he says, poking me in the chest. I chuckle at him.“Yeah, sure, whatever you say, Alpha Moody.” He growls at me and
Mia POV.The men that have been coming into the diner today have been strange. Strange as in, they are fucking massive. I’m surprised they managed to fit through the door, but the weird thing is that they keep looking at me and I mean full on staring. It made my skin crawl; I shudder again.“Gee, I need to get out of here.” I tell her through text and she gives me the side eye. She walks into the kitchen and texts me back.“Pretend to take the trash out back and go. Something is off with those guys. They look like they want to eat you or something.” I send a quick reply.“Ok, what about my stuff?” I pretend like I’m doing something, not looking up at them at all. I need to get out of here.“Trash bag, put your stuff in one and pretend it’s trash to take out, then run.” She replies and my eyes widen as I look for a clean trash bag and I find one. I bend down and open the bag, stuffing my things inside it.Standing back up, I take my things and the actual trash out. Heading into the kit
Theo POV.Humans, yuck. I don’t like the humans; they are vile disgusting creatures, so you can imagine how I felt when Fen told me were in fact mated to one. I shuddered and became angry at Selene. How could she do this to us? This is some joke to her surely, First she mated me to a man and now a human. It took time to get my head around the idea of not just Fen but also the human. Mia our mate. But, here we are. She is the only human I am fond of and yes; I come across as being a prick, but that is just me. If anything, Mia should be more scared of Fen than me.Tilting my head to the side as I peer down at her, she visibly gulps and I sigh, running a hand through my black hair.“We mean you no harm, Mia. I know you are scared of me, but I will never hurt you. Sit up and let’s talk about this.” She frantically shakes her head and I move around the table and sit down next to her head. Looking down at her and she is shaking. Fucking great.“Why are you here? What do you want with me?”
Fenrir POV.Walking through the front door of our personal haven. Our home is secluded close to the base of the mountain and it is surrounded by dense forest. There is only one way in and out and it is hidden, well unless you are me who can portal anywhere, that is.Walking into the living room, I place Mia down on the sofa and look at the bruising on her face. “She won’t want our blood to heal her. We will have to wait for her to wake up and decide what she wants to do.” I say, looking down at her. Finally, she is here with us.Granted, this is not how I envisioned her being here. But we didn’t know where she lived and besides, that psycho will never find her here, so in my justification she is safe.Placing a blanket over her, I leave the living room and head into the kitchen. We don’t have a first aid kit with being shifters. We don’t need one, especially with my blood. But considering Mia is human, there is a lot of things we are going to have to buy to accommodate her.Theo passe
Mia POV.Running through the forest, all I see are trees, no roads or building. Nothing. I scream in frustration before I change direction and carry on running. I’m breathless, but I don’t stop. The burning in my lungs forces me to stop and clutch my knees, taking big gulps of air and I look around again and realise I’m staring back at the house.“FUCK!” I scream out. I won’t give up. I turn and smack my head into a war of muscle. Staggering back, I rub my forehead. Wiping my eyes and I hiss as my cheek stings. Fenrir takes my face in his hands and I swat them away and step backwards. They are not good fucking people at all.“Stay away from me.” I grit out at him when Theo comes from the side of Fen. Taking steps back, I don’t take my eyes off of them. They are both walking towards me, herding me back into the prison they call their home. No, fuck that.I turn and walk back to the forest. “Mia, you can’t get out of the forest. Just give it up. We need to take care of your bruises and
Fenrir POV.This is my fault, but she needed protecting, more now than ever. Her ex is despicable to do that to her with her own mother and then say what he did to her. I knew she was speaking the truth. I would have known if she was lying to us.I can’t let her go back. It’s not that I wouldn’t be able to find her again. Of course I could. Her scent will always call to me. Her scent is a delicate mixture of strawberries and watermelon.During the dreams we could never pick up her scent but when we saw her in the diner, her mouth watering scent hit us and so we will always be able to find her. However, with her ex being around, it is for her safety.“Yeah, keep telling yourself that Fen, you and I both know it’s nothing to do with her ex. It’s because of you. You can’t bear to not be around her and so you have brought here and now she is refusing to eat or speak to us. This is on you, Fen.” My wolf has to butt in, but he is right, of course. For too long, we have searched for our mate
Mia POV.Waking up, I can taste chicken soup. When did I eat that? I remember throwing the bowl against the wall and it smashing to bits. That bastard fed me while I was unconscious, oh just you wait Fen. I climb down off the bed and stagger to the door. Ripping the door open, I come face to chest with a man I’ve never seen before. He has a scar on his face and I scream, slamming the door and stagger back, crashing into the chest of drawers. The door rips open, and Fen and Theo come running into the room. My hand is covered in blood. I caught my side on the corner of the drawers and fell. Fen takes my hand, and I snatch it back and shuffle away from him.“LEAVE ME ALONE!” I scream at him before I whimper and hiss from the movements. I move my hand back and lift my top with shaky hands. Black dots dance in vision, but I blink them back. Anger surges through me and I glare at them, my captors.“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, GET OUT, GET OUT!” I scream and my head feels light and I collapse on
Theo POV.This is wrong, so fucking wrong. Why can’t Fen see what he is doing is wrong and not the way to do things? Sure, I hate humans, but Mia is our mate; I want to do the right thing. Mia deserves her freedom to be able to come and go as she pleases. I need to speak to him and talk sense into him. This has to stop.“Fen, can I speak to you in the office please?” he sighs, knowing whatever I have to say isn’t going to be good.He follows me to the office at the back of the mansion and I sit down on the sofa and he sits next to me.“What’s on your mind Theo?” here goes. I look at him and shake my head.“Fen, this is wrong…” he growls and I growl back, holding my hand up. “Don’t fucking growl at me. Can’t you see that what you are doing is causing her harm? She is human Fen, we need to take her back and do this properly. Let her come to us.” He stands up and paces the room, shaking his head.“No, she belongs here with us. She is ours, Theo.” I watch him throw his tantrum and I roll
