Chapter 1: Sister or Mister?

Belle’s P.O.V

___________

The next morning, I discovered a package at the doorstep with my name on it.

"Mum!.... Did you order anything?", I called out.

"No!", she yelled back.

There was no sender tagged on it, only Belle Franchester. Slowly peeling off the tape, I discovered something really weird inside….

"A hoe?", My eyes narrowed at it. "Was this supposed to be some kind of sick joke of someone calling me a hoe?". I clenched my teeth literally tossing it outside.

"I'm going, mum!". Bev was already waiting across the street and waving like a 5yr old!

"Belle!!!", Bev kept waving.

She seemed as cheerful as ever.

"You were right", I rolled my eyes. "It was probably a spam mail"

"I told you not to click on that!... Random links can be dangerous..", she frowned.

"I know...".

The rest of the walk was silent till the school's entrance was at eyes view. "I told my mum about your dad's offer.."

Bev met my eyes with excitement, "she's going right?",

I nodded slowly before my eyes moved to the group of boys who'd been approaching from the other direction. Trevor was there!

Bev noticed my unwavering glance at him. "Don't do that babe, it ain't cute", she waved her finger in the air. "Especially when you're the only one staring"

Shaking my head vigorously. "You're right...". I smiled weakly knowing he was out of my league. We were in the same grade, but not in the same social class...

"So what did the link say..?", Bev tried changing the topic as the air had began to get a little tense while we walked through the gate.

"Just for some stupid g-", I felt like the words couldn't come out... No, they wouldn't come out...

"What was that hun?", she arched a brow.

"I said, it was a stupid g-". It happened again, my mouth didn't move just when I heard my phone beep.

Don't talk about the game.

It was a text from the game, by the mascot.... Or more like a threat.

"Just some stupid stuff". I felt my heart pound against my chest, somehow believing something bad was going to happen if I'd kept talking. "Can you believe someone mailed me a hoe this morning?"

I tried changing the topic.

"A real one?", Her brows furrowed as I nodded. "Well, that's pretty sick..."

"I know right!".

As we silently walked down the hallway, I'd only just realized... I'd picked a hoe in the game!...

But why would they mail me a hoe?... And why did the game show a pair of eyeballs last night?

"Don't look now Belle, but he's coming this way"

"Where?!", immediately raising my head.... Our eyes met.

"I said don't look now..!", Bev dragged her fingers through her face beside me in a mumble.

Noticing my gaze on him, "Ohh... Hey!", Trevor waved. He was just too damn good-looking...

I froze.....

OMG!.... He was standing right in front of me!

And all I could manage was just standing and staring at him before Bev bumped her shoulder with mine. "Ohh!... Hey!", I finally managed.

Why the fu*k did I repeat after him?!

"Sorry Belle", Bev wrapped her arms around my shoulder making me realize Trevor was already long gone.

"You'll get him next time, don't worry", she smile reassuringly, pinching my cheeks.

It was just Bev.... But damn.... I was embarrassed....

The day seemed to go as slow as ever, but something caught my attention out the window. Infact, half of the class had their eyes out the window.

Some people gasped, but I was too freaked out to even react.

"Pay attention!", Mrs Figgle croaked. "That's what y'all get when you stay out late doin' yo teenage stuff!", She waved her hands in a disgusted manner. "I mean, look at me", she gestured to herself. "I didn't do no crazy shi* when I was your age, and I'm still aliveeee", she widened her eyes at the class for emphasis.

She had a habit of being overly dramatic.

I rolled my eyes. Rumour has it there was a student from our school who was attacked by the 'Carver'. Well, that's what their calling him since he always takes one of their body parts.

The guys outside was in Trevor's class, but he'd lost his left arm. They said it was cut off so smoothly the doctors were suprised.

The bell sounded for lunch time and I made my way towards the door, Bev was waiting. We weren't in the same class, but she always happened to be waiting by my class door.

"Did you see...", I swallowed, not even knowing his name.

"Ohh... Xander Briggs, yeah... Too bad he lost an arm", her voice was quite unsympathetic. "Don't worry, I'll protect you!". She wrapped her arms around me as usual. It was warm.... Bev always knew how to make me feel better.

In the cafeteria, something happened...

"Hey.... Can I talk to you..", Trevor suddenly walked up to me.

I looked around still eating my sandwich, before realizing he was talking to me!

At first I froze, but luckily... Bev stepped on my feet from the other end of the table.

"Uhhm... Sure..", I jerked up nearly spilling my juice.

The three other girls on the table looked to him, then to Bev.

"Oh my god!... did Trevor just call Annabelle out?", Amanda looked around the table as the other girls nodded.

Bev had a mischievous smile on her face. It took him long enough to notice her...

"That's my girl", was all she said before silently finishing her meal.

By lunch over, we both rendezvoused in the hallway. I had a solemn look on my face...

"Belle?", Bev frowned trying not to expect the worst.

My emerald eyes suddenly brightened as they met Bev's. "He asked me if I'm free on Saturday!.", I squeal in a whisper pointing at Bev.

"And you said?", Bev clasped their hands together.

"And I said..", I added with a proud voice. "I guess I can spare some time", rolling my eyes at my words.

We both exchange fist bumps. "That's great but.... Out of nowhere he wants to go out with you?", It was strange since both her and Trevor had never even had a real conversation.

"I know, I was pretty shocked too.... I'll ask him then, I mean... Saturday is just tomorrow!"

"Get to class!", Mrs Figgle screamed down the hallway. They both split up giggling.

I'd always loved sitting near the window so my mind could be free. Our homeroom teacher was sleeping like she always did when a piece of folded paper landed on her laps.

It looked like it came from the door. Bev was there and looked excited about something....

Unfolding the paper, the words she saw made my lips drop. 'Laura is outside!'

Tiptoeing past the teacher's desk, I finally made it out the door. We exchanged anxious glances before running down the hallway.

Laura was waiting out the front door, her hair was all tangled and she had serious eye bags.

"Are... Are you okay?", I frowned at the sad sight before her.

"I need to talk to you", she pulled me by the wrist.

"About?"

"Just come with me"

Beverly slapped her hand away from mine. "You can't even explain yourself, we were worried you know!"

"I'm sorry but I had to send it.. it was the only way to talk to you?", She totally ignored Bev. "I'll explain everything, you're free on Saturday right?"

I frowned at her. "Like Bev said, we were really worried... where have you been?!"

Laura looked around as if to check if she was being monitored.

"Are you drunk?", Bev's eyes narrow at her.

"I see you're as difficult as ever..", Laura frowned. "Just do whatever it says... Find whatever it says.."

"I don't understand", I arched a brow at Laura.

"Here's not safe, text me there when you're free... We'll talk", she turned to leave.

"Text you where?"

"In it!", She yelled back.

Both girls looked to each other in confusion.

"Did you-"

"Nope, not one bit", I shook my head even before Bev could finish her words.
