"Are you alright?"
Maddie blinked a few times when Eliza waved her hand in front of her. She cleared her throat before she smiled at her.
"I'm fine, Eliza. Thank you for asking." Eliza blushed so she looked down. It was only Maddie who acknowledged her as well as the other servants and soldiers so she dedicated her life to serve her.
"Do you want to eat now?" Eliza started combing Maddie's hair.
"Is Theo around?" Maddie cleared her throat again while Eliza stopped for a second to think.
"I saw the great Theo earlier but I do not know if he is still here. Do you want me to check?" Maddie quickly shook her head before standing. E
“Eliza?”Eliza turned around and quickly went to Maddie’s side. She immediately noticed the hesitation in her face so she tried to stay more focused to tend her needs.“Is there any way that I can communicate with Arthur?” Eliza was surprised with Maddie’s request that she wasn’t able to respond immediately. She stuttered as she was trying to come up with an answer but there was none.Maddie sighed before smiling at Eliza. She was disappointed at herself for not being able to give Maddie an answer. Eliza quickly kneeled and bowed to the floor which surprised Maddie. She tried to help Eliza to stand but she remained bowing to her.“I am a futile
Maddie groaned when boredom hit her. She doesn’t exactly know the time but given the brightness outside, she assumed it is still early. She wants to sleep away her boredom but even sleeping bores her.“This won’t do.” Maddie stood and went out of her room. She sent Eliza away knowing that she doesn’t have anything to do. Besides, they are busy preparing for a gathering. Maddie was excited at first when Eliza mentioned it to her since she misses interacting with other people but when she learned that it was Theo who organized it, she was dispirited.Maddie strolled the empty hallways, peeking at every empty yet spacious room but none seems to excite her. In the end, she decided to visit the palace’s garden in hopes that it
Theo stopped talking when he heard an indistinct singing voice. Jonah and the other high-ranking soldiers stopped as well as they saw the confusion on their leader’s face. He hushed them although they were already silent. He stood while still trying to listen to the voice but it already stopped. “The celebration is tomorrow.” Troubled, Theo faced Jonah and he quickly went in front of him. “But are there any guests who have arrived already?” “No guests have passed the gates but I will have my men to check the whole place.” Jonah nodded at Philip and he quickly went out but it didn’t assure Theo. “Something is not right.” Theo hissed before going out of the room with Jonah tailing him.
Maddie quickly sat, gasping for air. She held her neck and continued breathing fast. Her throat feels dry and hoarse although she felt like she drank gallons of water already. The fear inside her is so intense that she just wanted to cry. Maddie looked around with her heart pounding hard against her chest as if it wanted to break it. Her brows met when she saw a familiar room."What the..." she was unable to finish her statement as she was dumbfounded. Maddie quickly got out of bed and as soon her feet touched the cold floor, she knew that she was not dreaming, that she was in her old room.Maddie ran towards the window and looked out. She covered her mouth when she gasped loudly."How am I here? Am I dead?" Maddie touched her face then her body.
“I somehow miss being treated like a princess.” Maddie mutters while Eliza is combing her hair. It made the little girl chuckle which caused Maddie to blush. “It’s really you who I missed, Eliza.” She glanced at her but Eliza just kept brushing Maddie’s hair.“I’m telling the truth.” Maddie faced her totally so Eliza chuckled again.“Is it really me who you missed or is it the great Theo?” Eliza has a playful smile on her lips which causes Maddie to blush hard. Her heart pounded hard against her chest and all she could do was avert her eyes. She suddenly stood to avoid getting teased by Eliza and the latter just decided to stop already. Maddie went to the balcony and the sight of the lake mad
Maddie sighed and continued pacing in her room. Eliza already left after helping her get ready and she was supposed to follow her but she doesn’t have the energy to do so. After a long deliberation, Maddie sat and groaned in frustration. She covered her face with her palms and groaned again but the heavy weight in her chest is still present.“Why do I feel like this?” She stood and looked outside. She can see a few people hanging out by the lake. Two days ago, she was fine and the presence of Theo did not bother her but after that night, she knew that something had changed between them. It was not her intention but her feelings just came rushing out of her and Maddie knew that it made Theo’s hopes up, especially since he's been vocal with his feelings for her.
Flora couldn’t hide her smile while treating Maddie’s wrist. She couldn’t believe that she had finally met the woman who owns the heart of the great Theo. The other gods and goddesses are waiting for their turn as they silently stand around her and it only makes Maddie more conscious.“Although we only meet when I heal you, it is still an honor.” Flora nervously chuckled which caused Maddie to smile shyly. Arthur is just standing beside her as if he is her loyal guard.“Thank you.” Flora’s smile widened but it quickly disappeared when Arthur pulled Maddie away from her.He held her shoulders and guided her towards the tables. Maddie just let Arthur as she feels exhausted already. She’s not certain
Maddie tossed and turned but she couldn’t escape her thoughts. In the end, she chose to go out on the balcony to get some fresh air. She hugged herself as it is now twice as cold since it is late at night. Maddie sighed before looking up. For a second, she was mesmerised by the beauty of the moons which had become one. The one behind contrasts the one in front with its vibrant red color which gives it a fine outline. Maddie sighed once again out of frustration because not even the magical beauty of the moons can take her mind off of Theo.“Did I make the right decision?” She sat on the bench and looked up in hopes that the moons could give her a miracle. In fact, Maddie is confused. She knows to herself that she doesn’t love Theo but she couldn’t bear seeing him hurt, especially because of he
