Novalie POV

I woke up startled and afraid for what the guards had in store for me, so I kept my eyes closed and pretended to be asleep for a while as I listened to what was happening around me. The first thing I noticed was the smell, and I knew I wasn't in the dungeons anymore. I guess they had beat me so bad that I needed to come to the pack hospital to be taken care of as I recognized the beeping of the machines and the smell of different cleaners. I had to calm my heart rate as the door to my room creaked open and heavy footsteps shuffled in. Then I was hit with the scent of Sandalwood and Cedar with just a hint of peppermint and my body and mind instantly calmed, allowing me to crack open my swollen eyes.
