Esme’s POV

“Although Kathie was displeased about you bringing Miss Esme to our Empire, I could feel it when I held her hands now that she did that to help Esme.”

I frowned. Help me? They had no idea I couldn’t transform, so how could they have known I needed help?

Before I could voice my doubt, Sophie continued, “In the last two years, all the Lycans that have entered the Sacred Room have noticed a significant increase in their strength.”

“Although not everyone has abilities to be Gifted, the increase in strength is still something that would help the kingdom and help them. By guiding her to the Sacred Room, Kathie had good intentions,” as she said this, she glanced at me from her side eye before focusing her attention on Silvan.

“But the number of people that have died is even greater than those that survived. Why did Kathie not give Esme a chance to choose?” Lois interjected from the side, and I noticed Silvan shooting her a grateful look.
