****THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS SOME VIOLENT SCENES, SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK****
No one could have guessed the underground basement to be this large. It was really large and contained various chambers on each side with a pathway in between.
Christian and Zen walked straight to a specific chamber without glancing anywhere else.
A scream could be heard as they neared that chamber, which only got louder and louder the closer they went.
Two guards could be seen standing outside the door. They looked in their direction when they heard footsteps. Their expression changed when they saw Christian and Zen heading towards them. The guards quickly opened the door to the chamber and stepped aside while greeting them.
Inside the chamber, a figure could be seen coiling on the floor, howling in pain while two bulky men stood aside watching him. One of the bulky men was holding a whip in his hand whereas the other had a dagger in his hand.
The man on the floor was being tortured, and the streaks of blood could be seen on the floor and walls. The man could not even be identified clearly because of his puffed face. One could tell that he was beaten black and blue before this. His clothes had become tattered and covered with blood.
Even after facing such a cruel scene, Christian’s expression did not change a bit. It only got even colder looking at the man on the floor.
If you looked closely at the man, you could recognize him as one of the richest men of the city, Mr. Wilson, CEO of Will Corporation. But that formidable CEO was actually getting beaten, no torture, to this extent.
When Mr. Wilson saw Christian walking towards him, he shivered but still gathered the courage to beg, “Mr. Ricci, please forgive me. I know I was wrong.”
When he did not get any response from Christian, he even went to the extent of hugging Christian’s legs and beg, “Mr. Ricci, please I have got my lesson. I know I should not have done all those things. Please let me go, I promise to leave the country and never appear before you. I can also transfer all my properties in your name. Just let me go, okay?”
Mr. Wilson could not even speak properly and even opening his mouth to speak was hurting him a lot. But he was still begging continuously to get freed.
Christian furrowed his eyebrow when Mr. Wilson grabbed his legs. He hated when a person like Mr. Wilson touched him.
The two bulky men near them also gasped when they saw the man touching their boss’s legs. He was surely asking for death.
Even Zen shook his head at the scene.
As expected, Christian kicked Mr. Wilson and his expression cooled down by many degrees. “Who gave you the courage to touch me? Aren’t you aware of the fact that I hate betrayers the most, Mr. Wilson? You have got really gutsy, huh?”
Mr. Wilson crawled back hurriedly after getting kicked. He knew everything was over then. He has totally offended Christian now.
At that time, Christian spoke again, “I heard he was beaten badly even before we found him. Is it true?”
One of the bulky men replied, “Yes, boss. When we reached his house to stop him from running away, we saw that he was already beaten badly.”
Zen furrowed his eyebrow and asked, “Did you see anyone there?”
The second bulky man replied this time, “No, sir. There was nobody in the house except for him. It might be the work of one of his other enemies. He must have offended many people.”
Even though Christian and Zen did not comment on it, they knew that the matter was not so simple. The other party also must have been strong to actually infiltrate Mr. Wilson’s dwelling and even attack him.
Zen walked forward, crouched down to Mr. Wilson’s level, and raised his head by pulling his hair tightly. “Say, Mr. Wilson, who was the one who attacked you even before we did?”
Mr. Wilson could not even brace himself into looking at Zen’s eyes. He stuttered, “I-I really don’t know. Just t- two people climbed inside from the window and began beating me. I really don’t know them. When they heard the sound of your people arriving, they again jumped out from the window and disappeared.”
His expression did not look like he was lying so Christian and Zen did not pressurize him anymore.
“Boss, what do we do with him?” One of the men asked.
Christian smirked, a type of arrogant smirk that made him look as if he was a devil descended from hell itself. “Heh! Of course, the same treatment that we provide to betrayers.”
The two men nodded in understanding.
Christian and Zen left after making sure that their subordinates understood everything.
Seeing that they were leaving, Mr. Wilson stood up with all her might and wanted to run behind them to beg but before he could take a step, he was dragged back by the two bulky men. Soon after, another round of howling started.
After arriving outside, Zen finally got a chance to ask the question that had been eating him from inside. "Who could be that person that arrived before us? No matter whom I think of, I cannot remember such a formidable person."
Christian did not say anything but his expression clearly told that he had no idea about it too.
“Investigate”, he replied indicating that he wanted a detailed investigation on it.
If it was any other person, he would not have thought much but they were talking about Mr. Wilson. That man had installed strong security around his house, and not anyone could enter his dwelling.
And, someone has entered his area and even attacked him without anyone knowing. This clearly meant there was another power behind that. And he naturally did not want another power except them to exist in the city. So, a thorough investigation was needed and no one was better in this field than Zen himself.
Zen naturally understood all these, so he nodded his head. His eyes glinted with rare light which meant he was very serious about the matter and would not allow any carelessness in this matter.

After Christian left, the two girls washed the dishes. After that, both of them went to Catherine’s room instead of going back to their own separate rooms. Sarah closed and locked the door from inside after making sure no one was around there. Catherine walked to her closet and opened it. She rummaged through the clothes piled on it and finally took out a pager from the bottom of the piled clothes. She switched it on and saw that there was one incoming message. She opened it, the message read, “DONE” She smiled reading the message and said to Sarah, “Done!” Sarah relieved a breath, which she did not know she was holding till then, after hearing the news. Sarah asked excitedly, “So, how is that Mr. Wilson now?” Catherine replied without any care, “How else? He got what he deserved. He must be in my brother’s dungeon now, being tortured.” Sarah nodded but her eyes dimmed after a while and asked, “Cathy, are you sure about it? Wha
The washroom was the place from where their plan was starting. They had already made the investigation in the mall. And, they were well aware of the fact that the washroom on the first floor had a window. Their plan was simple. Catherine was going to jump out from the window. The other benefit of that window was- it was connected to the barren land on the outside. From their inspection, they found that the land was also the mall's property. Some of the higher-ups wanted to build a playground for children whereas, some were planning on converting it into a garden. They still haven't reached any conclusion, so the land was completely bare for now. And, to their advantage, they got to know that the land was also void of any surveillance. Just as their plan, Catherine jumped out of the window and ran towards V Corporation. The V Corporation was just across the mall, so it took only 2-3 minutes for Catherine to reach there. She had a foolproo
Catherine's POV: Evan and my eyes met in the air. I was shocked to see a girl with him, and I bet I saw a shocked look on his face too. I had approached him with a thought in mind- and that was to get answers to my uncountable questions. But the scene I saw shut my mouth up. I could not believe what I was seeing. I tried to open her mouth to speak, but no words came out of my mouth. I didn't even realize when my eyes were blurred with unshed tears. Evan Vitale, that bastard! Where was the innocent boy who had promised to marry me when we were children? Hmph! He probably forgot all about it after getting the taste of other girls. I wanted to shout at him, but I really could not utter a word. I did not expect myself to be that hurt. I just glared at him with resentment and walked away from there, banging the door behind me. I heard him calling my name, but I did not care to turn around. I just walked away quickly. I heard some shuffle behi
[In this chapter, I will be using the third person's POV.] Third Person's POV: It was nighttime. An abandoned building stood in one of the deserted areas. The wall inside was painted black which looked like darkness engulfing every part of the building. The door of the building was opened from outside which produced a ‘creak’ sound. It sounded almost haunting since it was nighttime. A girl walked in and closed the door behind her. There was no light inside the building which made the girl scared and uneasy. She wanted to switch on the torchlight in her cell phone. With this thought, she took out her cell phone but stopped when remembered that she was restricted to do so. But when she switched on her phone just a while ago, her face was visible. She was none other than the girl who was inside Evan’s office just that day. That’s right! She approached Evan with a purpose, just as Evan guessed. She then proceeded to walk inside deepe
After returning from Evan's office, Catherine entered the mall through the same window in the washroom. Sarah was still waiting for her there. When Sarah saw Catherine, she immediately asked, "How did it go? Did you find something?" Looking at Sarah's eager expression, Catherine felt guilty about the fact that she could not suppress her anger back then and even returned empty-handed. She shook her at Sarah sadly. Seeing Catherine's expression, Sarah knew that things did not go according to their plan. So, she did not ask her anymore and just patted her shoulders in encouragement. No matter how it went, their plan was actually good. It just didn't go according to their want. Sarah looked at Catherine solemnly, "It's okay. We can start from somewhere else. Don't worry too much about it." Catherine felt even more guilty when she heard her encouraging words. She didn't only disappoint herself, but also her whole team. She then told Sarah everythin
It was going to be a sleepless night for all of them. Evan's situation: He finally got a chance to see Catherine for so many years, but he could not even hug her in his arms. Hell, he couldn't even speak to her. Because of that girl, he had to talk rudely to his Cathy. He has had countless sleepless nights thinking about how he would approach Cathering when he sees her again. How he would make her his wife. But it was destiny playing jokes on them. He felt like laughing at himself when he couldn't even do anything when he saw her. He was again having a sleepless night. This time, not because of overthinking, but because of worry. He was worried if Catherine would forgive him for being rude and cold. He recalled how happy and naive they were when they were still children. Catherine always used to follow him and Christian. They used to do naughty things by themselves but always used to blame Catherine later. Because their parent used to dote on
The next morning, V Corporation Evan called his personal assistant Daniel into his office. Daniel was his assistant as well as his right-hand man, just like Zen was for Christian. Daniel entered the office and asked, “Boss, were you looking for me?” Evan nodded and said, “Daniel, what is my itinerary for today?” Daniel was confused as to why his boss was asking for that, but he still told him everything on his routine. Evan listened to it and ordered Daniel to cancel all his appointments around lunchtime. Daniel was stunned. Evan never did that till now. Even when he was badly sick, he never took leave from work or canceled the appointments. So, this came as a surprise to Daniel. “Why, boss?” The question slipped out of his mouth before he could stop it. He regretted it as soon as he spoke because he knew that his boss did not like anyone questioning him. He readied himself for another round of scolding. But, Daniel was
Their next destination was none other than a beauty parlor. Soon, the stylists there began their touch-up on Catherine. In just around 3 hours, everything was done. Catherine took a look at her wristwatch and realized that it was already 1 pm. She shrieked, “Ahhh! Sarah, what do I do? I am late. It’s past 1 pm.” Sarah shook her head at her, “Why? Didn’t you want to look best? Of course, it would take time. Now, calm down. Girls are always 1-2 hours late on their date.” Catherine relaxed, “That’s right. We should make him wait for more. Consider it as his first step of apology.” Sarah chuckled at her words. “That’s right. Come now, let’s go. I will drive you there.” Catherine nodded and followed after her. ***
