Chapter 3
Violet POV
Mate? My brows narrowed in confusion. What did he mean by that?
'How did you get out?', his voiced snapped me out of my thoughts, I was to engrossed in myself that I didn’t realize that he was outside with his eyes piercing down at me. He wasn’t too happy.
“Tell me, how did you get out?” he repeated his voice deep and threatening.
“I- I-“ unable to look at him, I bounced on my heels taking slow steps away from him.
“Do not run.” He warned with a cold glare.
It was too late, my legs were faster than my mouth, I ran. I ran allowing my leg to lead me. . I made a grave mistake, While I was supposed to find a way out I stopped to listen to what he was saying. I turned back for a second to see if he was following me but he wasn’t there, my little race is cut short as I slam hard into a wall.
“Ouh-” strong arms wrapped themselves around me to keep me from falling. My eyes widened in fear and my mouth slightly ajar as I counted my breathing.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he breathed down on me.
“Pleas- just- I just want to go-”
“No!” he snapped at me. “You belong here. You will stay here.”
"Please let me go", I said tearfully. He didn’t listen to any of my pleas and for the second time he carried me up the stairs again.
"I am not the pers- person you want, kindly let me go", I pleaded hoping he would listen but he didn’t instead his brows narrowed when he saw the lock.
“You picked the lock.” He said pushing the door opened.
“I’m so- I didn’t mean to-” he placed me down inside with a hard glare. “I just want to go home.” I admitted.
His eyes searched my face as if finding a lie in my confession.
“You will not be going home. You will stay here.” He said firmly. “I won’t allow you go back to that place again.” He turned on his heels and walked towards the door. With his back to me, he said.
“Don’t bother running away. It’s useless.”
This time I knew that he wasn’t bluffing, even with the broken lock I was still trapped in this house with no way to reach out to anyone for help.
Partially blinded by my tears, I curled at the edge of the floor with my knees to my chin and in a few minutes, I was drowned in tiredness and off in sleep.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The first thing I saw when my eyes opened was the man beside the bed watching me, a man? My eyes widened and out of instincts I shot up from the bed rolling too hard that I crashed to the ground.
“Sh-” I stuffed the curse on my lips and tried to understand my situation. Why was I on the bed? What is going on?
“Good you’re awake. Come down for breakfast.” What? Did he just invite me for breakfast? My eyes didn’t hide my surprise along side my slacked jaws.
“Y- you- you’re do- “ I was stunned. Staring at his face, I examined his features properly in the light. His jet black hair was styled neatly and they matched his eyes which were piercing and haunting. His stood on a height of over six feet, and his broad shoulders were clad in a crisp white dress shirt tucked neatly into his pants.
His face was sharp and precise as if sculpted by Michelangelo, it was too much perfection for a man who would abduct the person he saved. He didn’t deserve to look that great.
“Don’t be late.” He said firmly and left me all alone in the room.
By the time I was done cleaning up in the bathroom, my hair tamed and my face void of tears and oil I was ready to face my problem. I noticed the freshly placed cloth on the side of the bed, he must have brought it in earlier. With no other clothing choice I picked up the dress, a purple summer dress that stopped justbelow my knee. It was fair and fit me perfectly.
Taking one last glance at myself in the mirror, I tried to smile to myself. Tried.
The hallway was empty and cold as I walked through it, I worked my way down the stairs just like I remembered taking in details that I hadn’t notified earlier. I was also planning my escape again, nothing he said was going to stop me from trying.
The aroma of fresh bacon and eggs lead me into the open space, the dinning room was wide and had a long glass table with simple black chairs arranged on each side, a total of eight. The table was full of so many type of food, was he expecting guests?
“Good, you’re down. Sit.” He commanded without looking at me. I swallowed not wanting to get on his bad side and pulled out the chair on the other end directly opposite him.
I placed my hands on my thighs avoiding the table, with my eyes downcast as I waited for him to say something.
“Eat.” He demanded and I glanced up at him.
“I’m n-”
“Don’t finish that sentence.” He warned plxing his cutlery down. “Eat, Violet.” The way he said my name made me comply. I surveyed the food in front of me, everything looked familiar and unreal at the same time as if they were printed from a fancy cooking show.
My first bite was heavenly, the best I’ve had in over twenty years.
"How much did you hear yesterday?", he asked gaining my attention. I picked up the water by my side and take a slow gulp.
“I didn’t hear anything.”
“Don’t lie to me.” He growled clutching hard on the napkin in his hand. “What did you hear?” he repeated.
“Why are you keen on finding out what I know- “
“Violet- WHAT DID YOU HEAR?”
“I didn’t hear much- I just well you mentioned that I was your mate, which by the way is the most absurd thing ever. You just can’t rescue a random girl and claim here like a piece of property-” I rambled on.
“Violet.” My mouth snapped shut. “I want you stay here with me.”
What? He wanted me to stay?
“No,” I remarked lowly. “Why? Is this because I am your ‘mate’” I air quote.
“I want you to stay here because its safe for you.” He ignored my question. What did he mean by safe? Wasn’t I already in danger being here?
“Safe?”
“Jonathan isn’t the only danger in your life and if you leave this place and go back there, you won’t have to work about your family for they’ll be worrying about you.” He said and my heart skipped a bit. My family?
“Don’t bring my family into this-”
“I wish I could but it’s not me you should be telling that to.” He answered softly. “That’s why I want to make a deal with you.”
“You want me to stay?”
“Yes, sign a contract with me and you’ll be under my protection, your family also.” A contract?
“How can I trust you? How do I know this is not all your plan?”
“I wouldn’t harm innocent people,” he answered and then his phone rang. He frowned when his eyes crossed the screen, pressing the button he listened.
“What is it?”
“Apparently you were right, her mother was attacked during the early hours of the morning.” The new voice echoed from the speakers.
What? Mum? Was she hurt?
“That’s not all, they made sure that their house was way messier than it is. They’re going hard without considering what they are.” The male voice from the phone said. “We got there before things could get worse. What about the girl has sh-” he ended the call leaving my imagination wild.
"Deal or no deal?", he said staring at me.
“I- I are they okay?” I asked. “Is my mother okay?”
“Yes.”
“What do I have to do?”
Chapter 4Ansel's POVWhen someone hit me that night In the park, I never imagined that it would be her. I never imagined that she would be the one, neither did I think she would be hurt and running away from an abusive ex. Nothing about her situation at that point was expected, when I had a meeting with Bruce that night for the update of the treaty, and I picked the park I couldn’t place why until she crashed in to me. During my eighteenth birthday, I realized that my mate wasn’t who I thought it was, it wasn’t my girlfriend, Sofia, who later betrayed me. The moon goddess told me it was going to be somebody I never expected, someone ill never imagined. She was right, Violet wasn’t what I expected. After dealing with the filthy boyfriend of hers and his friends, I wanted nothing more than to take her with me and protect her at all cost. It disgusted me that me that had manhandled her and I was going to make sure to break everyone in his body for treating her like that. When she ref
Chapter 5 Violet's POV “Yes. I’ll do it.” I agreed. "Well you have to sign a contract.” Those where the words out of his mouth. Contract. "Can you rephrase your last statement please?" I asked frowning at his choice of words. “What the hell do we need a contract for", I asked more confused than before. "Well I believe you are not a dunce and you know what a contract is", he said more calmly Thani expected. “I don’t understand, must we sign a contract to make this valid? Is the words from my mouth not enough validation?", I said after a few seconds of silence. "Will you sign or not?", he replied harshly ignoring my questions. "Fine, bring it and let me sign the damn papers", I muttered in clear frustration. When he stood up from his chair with a folder in his hand I tried not to gape at his broad frame, he was intimidating and his aura alluring. He pushed the plates in front of me away creating space for the folder. “Do you have already typed contracts you give to girls you ab
Chapter 6Ansel's POVI got to the office that morning so bothered about Violet, she is such a hard but to crack, I wished she was a werewolf, maybe I won't be in so much fix right now."What a girl!!!”. I exclaimed loudly not mindful of the people around me as I head to my office.I am the CEO of a transportation company that cut across all transportation sectors be it road, air, water and other forms of transportation, I have several branches spread across Europe too, I have built it better than how my parents left it to become one of the leading transportation company in the country.I was so engrossed in my thoughts about Violet that I ignored all greetings addressed to me that morning as I headed hurriedly to the elevator that would take me to my office, I pressed the bell and met my best friend and Beta."Good morning Ansel, how was your night?", Brian greeted."Wad up bro", I responded trying to cheer up."A penny for your thoughts, cos you seem bothered", he said out of concer
Chapter 7Violet's POVI have been alone with my thoughts since he left me, the oblivion of how things would be from now on has got me brooding with several questions on my mind."When will this contract end?", I said aloud."Can't wait to get done with these, it's driving me crazy", I said aloud again.I needed a break from what life has been bringing my way since all these days ranging from my relationship to my stressful low paying job and a nasty job, so I never bargained for these new events and it's really driving me crazy.I laid on the bed for hours and thought to call my mom's number but decided against it as Ansel warned me against doing that majorly for my safety and that of my family and even if I wanted to there is no phone.I looked up and discovered it was around past 1 in the afternoon and I had not freshen up, so I moved into the bathroom to shower and got dressed in no time.My stomach needed food as I couldn't eat well in the morning due to the way Ansel stared at m
Chapter 8Violet's POVIt's been four days since I last saw Ansel and to say, I have been quite relieved because there has been lesser drama, no yelling, no peeping, let me say I've been free as a bird.He had packed for few days because of an emergency that needed his attention and left specific instructions for me when he was leaving and that includes not breaking the rules in the contract and I wasn't ready for another world war 3, so I promised to comply and I did to the letter.Feeding was no problem as food delivery services brought me nice meals every morning, noon and night, a complete balance diet.I was inside the room around 12 noon when I heard the door of the house open, I raced down the hall curiously with the intention of hiding my face at a corner when he comes in and sneak back into my room as soon as I see him climbing up."Hi Violet, how are you doing?", an unfamiliar voice said as soon as I got to the wall closer to the staircase, I have to hide my face, my heart s
Chapter 9I was thinking so hard about how things is going to be from now on, everywhere was damn silent except for the table producing the sound my fingers are giving it as I tap on the table severally with them.I had gotten into the room after spending few minutes with Brian downstairs, the park had been attacked again and it was quite brutal this time around as we took two casualties to our side. The park had been so disturbed as a result of this recent incident and I had to leave the house for a few days to quell the issue the best way I can before it gets out of hand.Several investigations had revealed some people and I had swung into action immediately, I and Brian and we discovered some shocking incidentsThe attack had made everyone so shaken that we couldn't reveal it to them but we hope to tell them soon but nevertheless continue with the investigation discreetly just Brian and I.I had checked up on Violet's family too and I heard they are doing well so I worry less.I wa
Chapter 10 Violet's POV "Jerk", I said in a very low tone as I watched him leave me alone.Well he tried by keeping to his words as regards my family members, his words made me a little cheerful as I whistled a song in a playful manner into my room to wait the arrival of the so called mystery arrangement he has made for the party."Finally", I said as I saw a woman drive in and come out of her car with a red gown and a big box.I wondered who she may be"Friendly or evil?""Will she be able to help me when I call for help or she will totally ignore me?"I asked these questions with others too but couldn't find an answer to them. All I could do is sit on the bed and allow things to kinda play itself out.I heard a knock on the door shortly and I went to answer it and behold I saw a very beautiful blonde lady with a pointed nose about 5'9 fts tall looking at me."Hey baby girl will you allow me in?", she said breaking my thoughts."Oh sorry", I said as I made way for her to enter."My
Chapter 11Ansel's POV"Well I believe they should be done by now", I said looking at my watch and moved out of the room towards her room, when I heard gigglings."Ladies", I thought to myself, I waited for a while replying some important text messages on my phone before entering the room without knocking of course, they stopped talking, the expression on Gloria seems like that of relief, what it was I couldn't tell.I looked at Gloria and then to Violet, I wished someone had warned me earlier, maybe I would have been better prepared and not too surprised by how beautiful she looked, my heart was really raced at that moment."You look ravishing", I said but those words never came out, instead it rang in my head.Gloria really did a good job, well being a fashionista less ain't expected.I couldn't help but notice how she looked at me also and I had this strange confidence."Maybe I am not looking too bad myself and kinda attractive to her", I thought to myself.I moved closer to them
