Chapter 80: Fake until you Make it

Once the three of us reached the top of the marble staircase, we were out of breath and bent over from exhaustion. Through panted breaths, Em told me the way to Lucas’ bedroom.

"Just walk straight down this hall." She paused and took another breath. "We have to leave you here, we're not allowed to go further."

Em smiled at me reassuringly then took Bridgit's arm and started to descend the stairs. I watched them for a few moments before I looked down the hallway that led to Lucas’ door.

It wasn't that long of a hallway, but it felt never ending. White walls towered next to me with nothing adorning them, and the only door in the hallway was at the end. The shining wood beneath my feet was a faded white, but almost blinded me when I looked down at it. This house really was a marvelous place, but everywhere I looked I only felt fear.
