Laura, tired and downtrodden trudged along the dirt path, towards the outskirts of the city. She had barely escaped her stepfather who wanted her dead. Laura knew she was lucky to be alive. There was no doubt that as soon as they sniffed her out, her head would be severed, that was how much they hated her.
Laura lost her strength and with the final strength she had left, she slumped to the ground. Her breathing was hitched and even her wolf was too weak to assist her. Being an Alpha, Laura's powers were far greater than anyone else's. She could sniff out things, faster than any of the other pack members but now, none of those powers mattered because she was beyond weak to do anything.
Just before she slipped into a dreamlike trance, voices filled her head and she didn't know whether it was real or not.
"Do you think she's alive?",a voice said.
"She's breathing, she's alive but I can't find a pulse even though her heartbeat is steady", another voice said.
"Where did you find her?"
"At the side of the road".
Laura groaned, trying to open her eyes but it proved futile. It seemed as if her whole body was run over by a truck. She could feel the bones of her body becoming stiff as she tried to adjust her body to a more comfortable position.
"She's alive", the voice said.
"Quick, let's hide", the other voice said.
Laura opened her eyes finally as she looked around, trying to see where she was. She could hardly remember anything as all she could remember was a fuzzy memory that wasn't clear to her.
"Where am I?",he croaked.
Just then, a slight movement crossed his eyes and she looked up to see two children hiding behind a huge rock.
"Hey", Laura shouted.
That proved to be a mistake as a pounding headache forced her to lay back down. Laura coughed, spitting out dirt and a bit of blood. She didn't know where she was and she hated not knowing because that meant he couldn't be in charge.
The children walked towards her, giving her a suspicious look as one of them poked her rib with a stick.
"Oww, that hurt", Laura croaked.
"Sorry. Who are you?",the first child said.
"I think I should be asking you that question, who are you?", Laura croaked.
He sat up, holding the side of his head which was pounding in apparent anger to his body movement. He couldn't explain but somehow, his senses were heightened and even his eyesight seemed ten times better than it was the last time.
"I'm Tim and this is my brother Josh", Tim said.
Laura could see that they were identical brothers and the only difference they seemed to have was Tim's hair being a shade darker than his twin.
"What's your name?", Josh asked.
Laura thought long and hard about this but try as he may, she couldn't even remember her own name. All that occupied his mind was just a haphazard memory that seemed not to make any sense to him.
"I... Can't remember", she sighed.
"Don't worry, it's normal especially since you just survived the forest?", Tim said.
Laura stared at him, trying to understand what he said. Forest? She had no memory of having been in a forest. As she thought about it now, Laura realized that she had no memory of who she was.
"Forest? What do you mean?",he said.
"Oh heck, this is going to take so long,'' Josh sighed.
"Will someone please explain to me what's going on?", Laura thundered.
Apparently, her wolf had been reawakened and it needed answers and fast. The children shuffled back in apparent fear over her outrage. Laura noticed that her voice was louder than she expected. It seemed to have a deep tone to it that wasn't there before.
"I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry", Laura said.
She felt bad for shouting at the kids when it really wasn't their fault. Now, they would find it hard to talk to her.
"It's okay, this is totally expected", Josh said.
"Please, what happened to me? I need to know", Laura said, quietly.
"We found you by the side of the forest, almost dead. But Josh here felt your pulse and we discovered you were alive, just barely though", Tim said.
Laura thought about this but she still couldn't remember anything which was getting more frustrating by the minute.
"Could you take me to where the forest is?", Laura said.
She knew that if she saw what they were talking about, he could have an idea of what was really going on.
"I don't know if we can find it", Josh said.
"Find it? What do you mean? Wait! How many days wereI out?", Laura asked.
"Days? You've been out for months", Tim said.
Laura sat in silence as his words resonated around her head. He couldn't believe what she just heard, he had a hard time believing it but now that he thought about it, he knew it could be true. He was really out for that long.
"Months?", She stuttered.
"Yes, months", Josh said.
"Okay, just please show me where this accident occured", Laura said.
"Alright, but can you walk? It's a bit far from here", Tim said.
Laura rose up to her feet and to her surprise, she stood on steady legs when she expected to collapse as a result of being out for so long.
"Yes, I can. Please, lead the way", Laura said.
"Come on", Josh said.
The children led the way with Laura following closely behind. He stared at his surroundings still not recognizing anything. Everything was so strange to him and he had a hard time putting his thoughts together.
"We're almost there", Josh said.
Soon, they got to a barren road filled with different scraps of materials. Laura had never seen anything like it. It was beautiful yet so bare and fallow.
"We're here", Tim said.
Laura stared at the spot where she thought she might have been found. All his memories came back.
"Are you alright, you have a sick look on your face?", Josh said.
"There were some people chasing me. Do you know where they are??", Laura said.
"They escaped before our leader came. Do you now remember anything?".
"Yes, I do", Laura said.
Laura's memories were coming back in quick spurts. It was all coming back in full force and she knew she had to relive the memory if she wanted to plan ahead. Her stepfather and her stepbrother were the enemies and she knew she'd be a fool to ever trust them again. This was not the first nor the second or third time they had attacked her and Laura knew it was only a matter of time before she got killed.
"Someone saved me. I saw brief flashes of him. Do you know him and can you take me to him?" Laura asked.
Somehow, she knew whoever had saved her was going to be instrumental in her revenge mission. The time to get back at the people who had caused her pain and anguish was here and she knew she had to get on with it before it was too late.
"Yes, we do. Right this way."
"I'm going over to Alpha Jed's turf today", Laura said. It's been over a month since she woke up and over a month since Laura had embraced her Alpha wolf side. "I think it's still too early to attack Laura", Drew said.Drew was the wolf who had saved her from her stepfather's men. He was handsome and what's more, really caring about his pack members.Laura didn't know if she was ready for it but she wouldn't hesitate to attack them if she had the chance."I'm not attacking now, I'm going there to scope the area", she said."Still, you have to be very careful. Alpha Jed is very sensitive and one small slip up could have us all doomed. Laura, are you sure you want to do this?", Drew said."I won't jeopardize the peace of this pack, you can trust me on that Drew", Laura said."Alright, but I think you should go with either Tim or Josh"."I prefer not to go with any of them. I need all the concentration I can get and secondly I don't want them to get hurt if something unpleasant occurs".
"Did I ever tell you Alpha Jed's son has a girlfriend", Drew said.It has been over a week now and today was the day Alpha Jed hosted his annual ball which saw different packs coming together to celebrate the full moon."I... No", Laura said. She knew her step brother had a girlfriend since she had seen her on the day she went to scout the area. Laura didn't want to tell him but was waiting for him to say something about it."Yep, he sure does", Drew said."Tell me about her", Laura said."She's a young girl, in fact she'll be eighteen years old today hence the main reason for this ball", Drew said.Laura was glad about this, it would give him the perfect opportunity to carry out his plans, something he had been wanting to do."I see. What's her name?",she asked."Her name is Liyah,'' Drew said."Okay. What time would we be going over to the ball?", Laura asked. She needed to know the time if she was to effectively carry out his plans on attacking Alpha Jed and kidnapping Liyah"Just b
"Hello, are you lost?",she asked. Her voice was soft, very gentle as against what she was expecting. Laura walked towards her and she chuckled when she saw her take a step back, her back hitting the railings of the balcony. She was scared, that much was certain but what she couldn't understand was the look of care and adoration she saw in her eyes. That wouldn't be good because she wasn't expecting that, she had everything mapped out and this was something unexpected."No, I'm not. I actually came to see you", she said."Me? But I don't know who you are?", she said."Well, I know you. You're Liyah", Laura said. She stood before her, taking her hands in her's. If she was to carry out her plans, she needed to do this even though she hated every minute of this. If this didn't work, she had no other option but to employ the second method, one she had been itching to use since the beginning."Oh yeah, I'm sure everyone knows who I am. It's my birthday after all", she said."Yes and why do I
Laura morphed into her wolf form, taking off into the night towards Drew's cave. The big wolf could live anywhere he liked and recently, Laura had come to learn that aside from his cave he was constantly in, he had a big mansion somewhere. She wasn't sure where he might be but she decided to try his cave first. After all, if he was somewhere, he had to be in his cave. She got to the boundary that separated Alpha Drew's pack from the rest of the village. Laura trudged on, hoping that Alpha Jed and his useless son didn't pull up an unpleasant surprise. When it came to them, she couldn't trust them. After all, there was nothing they did that could make her trust them. They made her life unbearable and Laura knew it was time for them to pay for all the pain and heartache they had caused her. There was no telling what they would do if they got their hands on her and this was something that she needed to avoid at all cost. They were bad people, very bad people indeed. At the entrance of his
It's been two days since she left the building and Laura knew by now, Liyah would have found a way to escape. She was a wolf after all and it would be easy for her when she found her strength. Thinking about it now, Laura realized that Drew was right from the onset. Focusing her mind on things that weren't important was bound to make her lose track of her plans.''Thank you.'' Laura whispered.Drew wasn't with her at that moment but she thought it wise to just appreciate him in his absence. If it wasn't for his wisdom, she could have made the greatest mistake of her life.''A dollar for your thoughts.'' a voice said.Laura looked up and realized it was Drew, the subject of her thoughts standing there with a wide smile on his face. Judging from the way he was sweaty and perspiring, Laura knew he had just come back from a run. It showed in the sweat that was streaming down his face.''Wow, someone went for a morning run.'' Laura chuckled.''Have you to keep myself fit you know.'' he chuc
It's been two weeks since Laura had been at Alpha Drew's pack and to say she was happy would be an understatement, she was glad to be here. Throughout her stay, she had been able to learn several things that would help her in her revenge mission against her step father and his son.Alpha Drew on the other hand had just walked into his Mansion, ignoring the greetings from his pack member. He was naked since he transformed back to his normal self but the pack members dared not point this out to him since the expression on his face was grave. He barged into his room, slamming the door behind him."Moon goddess, I need you please", Drew said. There was silence as he waited for her to appear. After several minutes, Drew grew impatient. "So you're just going to ignore me? Is that it, I thought you were better than this", Dre shouted.Just then, a blinding flash of light permeated the room. The Moon goddess appeared, looking resplendent as ever. She took a seat opposite Drew, staring at him
For several minutes, Laura remained quiet. She couldn't believe what Drew had just told her. Yes, she had this pull towards him but that was that. She never envisioned he would say something like this."How do you know this?", Laura asked. Drew pulled out the blue coral necklace from his side pocket, placing it on the table. Laura was entranced by itsbeauty. She couldn't help but pick it up and when it was in her hands, the necklace glowed. The Moon goddess sure had a way of drawing people together, this just proved that Laura was his mate"I was right then. Why do you think I keep coming here? There's this pill I feel towards you", Drew said."This is unbelievable... I'm short of words", Laura gasped. Drew took the necklace from her, placing it back on the table. He took her hands in his, giving it a warm squeeze. Now that they had both confirmed that they were meant to be together, their remaining tasks in finding out who was their enemy would be somewhat easy."Believe it sweethea
As Laura prepared to switch on the security lights, she heard a sharp knock on the door. It was pretty late for anyone to come visiting and Drew had informed her earlier on that he would be coming much later.Laura prepped her magic, gradually bringing it to the surface. She wouldn't take any chances with her safety especially now that she had enemies all around. Laura moved towards the front door, taking one step before the other. She checked the peephole but she couldn't make out anyone which only spiked her curiosity. She decided to be brave as she flung the door open. Instead of finding a human waiting at the other end of the door, what she saw was a big black wolf. The wolf was so huge that it nearly reached her shoulder."Who are you?" Laura said.By now, her magic was already at the surface. She was satisfied when she saw the wolf move back a bit. Right before her very eyes, the wolf morphed back into a human. It turned out to be her step brother, her arch-enemy.His jet black h
