Chapter 13: A Set-up

Mendoza froze for a moment before she scoffed and walked closer to Sarah.

“That sounds like an allegation that may or may not be true.” She uttered, then raised a brow, “What evidence do you have to back up your allegation and have me convicted?”

This was Mendoza's way of escaping tricky situations. Instead of agreeing or disagreeing, she tried to make Sarah seem like a liar in case there was someone or people listening.

“I saw you talking to that chef. And even if I get your reason for being hard on Freya, I think you should stop whatever you're planning!” Sarah stood her ground, refusing to take a step backward despite feeling intimidated by Mendoza.

“Careful what you say, Sarah, and careful who you tell this to. Remember, it's the word of a beta's daughter against the word of an Alpha's daughter.” Mendoza exhaled in a dismissive tone and took a step backward.

“The Alphas won't let you off if they find out what you did to Freya!” Sarah yelled behind Mendoza as the latter walked o
