Hi everybody. Thanks for reading. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think so far!
Alec’s POV continued- “I was thinking that we should reach out to the other packs again and ask them about the activity in their territories. Also I want to ask if there have been any banishments lately we might be unaware of that could be leading to the increased number of rogues. We could let them know about our theories and see if that tracks with what is going on over there too.” I tell him. “Those are very good suggestions, son. I know you have the right mind for this job. We can get on that throughout the week. This also brings up my reason for wanting to talk to you.” I had an idea this conversation was coming but I was hoping it would be something else. “And what would that be, Dad?” “We both know you are mentally ready for this job, I want to retire, and you’ve asked for the responsibility previously. My conditions haven’t changed and I wanted to know where your head is at with those conditions.” Last year I told my dad that I was ready to take over the pack and he disa
Alec’s POV continued- I wake up early to the sound of the alarm blaring on my phone. I’m not a morning person, but as the future Alpha I have to set a good example. Every morning during the week starts out with training so we can stay fit and able to protect our pack. Training is mandatory for all pack warriors, but everyone is welcome to attend if they want to better themselves. It seems pointless to me to ban someone for trying to better themselves, especially if it benefits the pack as a whole as well. Some packs won’t let Omegas or other weaker wolves train. Some say they don’t want them to get any ideas in their heads to try a coup or something. That’s ridiculous to me. Obviously if you’re worried about those lower than you standing up against you, then you are doing something wrong and not treating them with the amount of respect they deserve. One of the things that I love about my pack is that everyone is respected and everyone does their jobs to the best of their ability, no
Kade’s POV- I went to the meeting with the few warriors that were allowed, and like the others I was appalled to hear that an abused woman was running on her own to get away from whoever it was that did that to her. I had my own suspicions once I heard the direction that she was coming from. It made sense since everything else out of the ordinary was coming from that way too. Once the meeting started getting into the politics of the treaty and how to handle the hunters I kind of started to zone out a bit. I hate politics and drama. Give me a strategy briefing any day, but a political meeting? No thank you. I would much rather take care of the physical safety of the pack and showing others how they can help as well, than have to worry about all the drama. So of course as soon as there’s an opportunity to go on patrol I jump at it. When Alpha Zeke gives me the green light I excuse myself and practically run out of the office. My wolf Ace loves to run free in the forest and letting him o
Cataleya’s POV continued- We head back up to our rooms and I go to take a nice hot shower. It feels amazing to let the water beat into my muscles and soothe away the soreness after a good training session. When I get out I grab some comfy jeans and a black tank top since it’s still hot outside, but I don’t want to get my legs all torn up if I have to go work outside today. I put on my hiking boots and grab a hair tie to put around my wrist just in case I need it later after my hair fully dries. As soon as I walk out of my door, Aria steps out of her place and she falls in line with me wearing something similar. Same brain, remember? “Oh my God I’m starving,” she grumbles as we head down towards the kitchen. When we get close we take a deep breath because the air smells delicious. Thankfully my mom has already made a bunch of food and has it laid out on the kitchen island, buffet style. “Aunt Jess, you are a lifesaver!” “Hey I may be getting older but I still work out and train too
Dean’s POV- I was in my office going over the paperwork my dad sent over. Most of it was easy stuff he just wanted me to look at so I knew what was going on with the business. He always felt it was best to keep open communication about everything and I completely agree. It makes things so much easier without having to second guess about anything that someone else might be doing. It hasn’t been that long since everyone went their own ways to take care of our jobs for the day when I got a notice from Mark. He said that he saw something on one of the cameras near the pack border this morning, so he was keeping a close eye on it in case anything else came up and saw a rogue sniffing around that same area. Cataleya was already headed in that direction to work on the trail cams so she was already on his tail. I knew that after I lost one there was no way she would lose one too. I wasn’t that lucky. So I headed down to the holding cells to make sure that we had everything we would need rea
Alec’s POV- After the meeting, I hang back in the packhouse to speak with Kade about what he saw with the hunters. We got the link from Jace that there was another rogue shortly after Kade went out, but then Kade sent a short link just saying ‘hunters’. Kinda cryptic but there wasn’t any call for help or link from anyone else on patrol in that area so we assumed everything went ok. Just then the front door flung open and I could practically feel the tension and aggression coming off of Kade as he stalked through the door, not caring to try and close it behind him. He starts to head off to his room but I get in his line of sight and stop him first. “Kade! What the hell happened to you? Why are you so grumpy?”“Huh?” he asks, finally registering that it’s me in front of him. “Oh, sorry. Nothing happened, I’m not grumpy. Saw the rogue, but there was already a hunter on him and they took him down before he crossed over. That’s it, end of story,” he says shortly.“Really? And it was the
Alec’s POV continued- “Dean,” I say, nodding to him as we walk towards each other. Then turning to his mom I lay on one of my biggest smiles. “Hi Jessica! How have you been?”“Save it, Wolfman! You know I’m already spoken for,” she says smiling back. She can tell I only said it like that to screw with Dean, but she shut it down real quick. “So tell me about this girl.” I quickly tell them about how we found Lucy and what the girls told me they learned from speaking to her.“That poor girl!” Jessica says. “Where is she?”“She’s in the SUV with some of my people. She’s still scared and nervous so I wanted to give her some time and tell you everything without her having to hear it over again.” “Good idea. If you guys don’t have any more information about her, that’s all I need from this meeting. I can go grab her and take her back to start getting her settled.”“That’s all I have, unless there’s anything else you need Dean?”“No, nothing else for her right now. We can try to find out m
Dean’s POV- This is dumb. I know deep down it’s the right thing to do, but it’s still dumb. I’m driving back to base silently with Alec and Zander, of all people, in my car. I can just imagine the look on my dad’s face if he sees me walking in with these guys. He’s always hated the wolves and has tried to instill it in me that I can never trust a wolf. For the most part I haven’t had any major issues, I just never really liked them. Alec acted like a spoiled little prick when I first met him and Zander Jackson goes with everything Alec says like a little lap dog. Ok maybe not that extreme but pretty close. I guess being a beta will do that to you. Alec caught me off guard when he yelled at me, even more so because he made sense. It actually seemed like he gave a damn about what was going on and wasn’t just sent on this mission by his daddy. Color me surprised. And then he had to go and open his big fat mouth.“So, Captain, are you ready for the season to start?” Alec said.I gave him
