Chapter 11 - Taking care of business.

“SON! Please! I beg of you! Don’t do this!” My mother cried. “What do you want me to do to stop this? I will go down on my knees and beg if you want. I will stop bugging you about grandchildren. Whatever you want.” She fell down on her knees in front of me and I sighed, feeling like a monster.

“Mother,” I sighed deeply as I pulled her upright. “You know as well as I do that, I have no other choice. Father’s selfish actions have caused this. If he didn’t interfere, my people wouldn’t think me a fool.” I frowned as I saw anger flash in her eyes. Was it possible that she didn’t mean what she said just seconds ago?
