As soon as Landani opened her eyes, brilliant white lights flooded her field of vision. The ceiling fan in her bedroom wasn’t there. She tried to get her bearings by closing her eyes and inhaling deeply. The air was thick with the smell of antiseptics. Her eyes suddenly opened.
