Chapter 2
"What is that, Lily?" her mother asked in her fuming and tough voice as they both entered their house. Lily was still furious with them. How can they mourn when his father just died but none of them open their eyes and seek justice? They all pretended blind, even her mother who definitely knew that her father's death wasn't an accident.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Lily answered innocently.
Her mother immediately cackled at her daughter. She also knows that she is not innocent of what she just did in front of the people earlier.
"Don't fool me, Lily. You are my daughter, I know you well!"
It was like a fire just burned between them and Lily couldn't calm herself anymore. With her eyes filled with pain and anger, she looked back at her mother.
"Then maybe you also know that your husband's death was not an accident," you can clearly define that she was enraged by her sturdy voice along with her blazing eyes towards her mother. Her hands were crumpled, trying to control herself. But then, the agony in her heart can't be easily resisted.
Why are they acting like her father was meant to die? Why do they look fine from his death and she's the only one who's vexed and hurt from his death?
Her parents were deeply in love, Lily witnessed it all her life. But right now, her mother is acting like she didn't love her father not even once in her life. As if what she saw from them before was all fake.
"We already talked about this, Lily. How many times do we have to tell you that it was an acc—"
"I'm leaving," she said as she shed the tear that fell down from her traitor's eyes who couldn't stop but to cry. She's sick of hearing that reason all over again when they all know that it wasn't true at all. They are all trying to deceive her and make her believe a huge lie.
"Lily, I'm not done ye—"
"I do not sympathize with them, Mom…they are monsters and I can see it to you as well."
"Lily!"
The bang of the door ended their conversation as she slammed it out of anger. She stopped for a moment when the rain started to pour all of a sudden. A thin smile flashed from her lips. At least the world feels her pain.
"What do you mean you have a bride?" Aemon's grandmother now asked in surprise. Earlier, she was just lecturing him about that and now that Aemon is telling him that he found his bride, it seems like she can't believe it right away.
It was like a miracle—a magic.
"Aren't you happy? The problem has been solved," Aemon said while he was still at the funeral, waiting for his grandmother. She will definitely arrive in a minute.
"Not totally solved," his secretary said and sighed heavily. He could already see trouble from her eyes.
"I'm coming, Aemon."
"I'll be waiting," he ended the call and looked at his secretary.
"Did you find her?" he asked.
"She isn't here anymore. We spoke to her uncle and he said she left with her mother," they explained.
Well, it's not really a problem. By what he saw earlier, that woman's life was controlled not by her—but by her family. It's a good thing that he has a deep connection with her uncle and he will never say no to him.
"Not a problem," he said confidently, "I won't need her to say yes."
His eyes drew to the man coming towards him, wearing a huge evil and frisky smile on his lips. He doesn't even look like mourning at all. Aemon only needs this man's agreement to marry that woman named Lily David.
"My deepest condolences," Aemon sympathized fakely.
"Good to see you again," Mr. David said and even tapped his arm. "You need something, I can sense it."
They both stare at each other before Aemon chuckled.
"Your niece,"
"My lovely niece...don't tell me you want to marry her?" He asked and laughed like an old man.
"I do,"
"Say it in front of the priest," that means he agreed even without asking Lily. Aemon smirked out of victory. Again, he got what he wanted easily.
"I must meet the girl and plan the wedding as soon as possible," all of them drew their attention to his grandmother who just arrived and overheard their conversation.
"Tomorrow, let's have dinner and talk about the engagement." Mr. David suggested.
"That's why we never cut ties with you, Mr. David…I want to see why my grandson chose your niece so quickly," she said with a lovely smile with a glimpse of curiosity.
"She's a stubborn and brave lady…I'm sure they will both have a good family."
"I'm expecting,"
"I must go and deliver this news to my niece."
Now, Aemon wondered what would be her reaction after hearing this arranged marriage all of a sudden. Mr. David left quickly and they were left alone there.
"Do you like her?" His grandma asked.
"Do I have to? All I need is a bride," he answered and kept his hands in his pockets.
His grandma was out for words. She only sighed while watching Aemon anxiously by his decision. This won't be easy for the both of them. Aemon thinks marriage is just a piece of cake, but it is not the reality.
Lily, coming back to their house after crying a river at the cemetery. Her eyes wondered when she saw her uncle's car parked inside their land. What is he doing here? He won't probably lecture her about what she did earlier because he doesn't even care about the death of his own wife. Lily started to feel anxious about something.
"Don't worry anymore. The dinner for Lily's marriage would be in my place."
That made her stop all of a sudden as she heard that coming from his uncle who's conversing with her mother who doesn't even disagree.
Marriage? What the fvck?
"My marriage?" she now intervened in her unbelievably voice.
"You're finally here," her uncle said and gave her a massive high-spirited smile on his lips as he faced her.
"Lily," her mother called her.
"We are planning your marriage with Mr. Cooper and we will have dinner with them tomorrow as soon as possi—"
"I am not marrying anyone," Lily cut him out fiercely. Her eyes were sharp and the beast inside her was being awakened by all of this.
"We are not asking for your decision," her uncle replied and kept that annoying smile on his lips.
Now, her eyes shifted to her mother. She feels powerless when it's her life that they are talking about. With the last hope begging at her mother, she stared at her.
"Aren't you gonna speak again, Mom?" she asked in her shivering voice, holding back the tears that were about to fall.
"Stop the dra—"
"How dare you decide for me when you are hiding the truth of my father's death?!" she bawled.
"It was an accident for god's sake, Lily!"
"Oh, fvck it! Car accident? Then tell me why he has a lot of shots if it was a d*mn car accident!"
"Enough, Lily!" her mother yelled, shutting her up again.
"He's your husband," she said, looking and sounding frail.
"You will marry that Cooper," she said instead of answering her daughter.
"No," she said back. "Why are you doing this to your own child? You are ruining me,"
"Because your family is indebted to us, Lily." Both of them looked back to her uncle who doesn't even look problematic.
"What do you mean?"
"Everything you have now, they sold it to us…" he walked towards her, dropping that smile. "If you don't obey what I want, then I will throw both of you out of this house without a single penny in your pockets."
It was a threat—and she couldn't do anything but crumpled her hands in anger.
"The dinner will be at my place. I am expecting both of you to be there...and if you don't come, that means you made a decision for you and for your dearest mother."
He winked at her before walking away and leaving them hanging there, defeated. For the second time, she can't even fight.
"Lily,"
A tear fell down from her eyes as she looked at her mother.
"I hate you," she said and left her alone.
Chapter 3Her life is a total mess. She feels like a dog obeying her cruel master. Her father's death was being hidden and now, they are controlling her marriage. It feels like this is not her life anymore but her Uncle's life. Lily was thinking profoundly. Isn't it funny? She's still trying to think of how to escape them when she knows she can't. The knife kept dancing in her hand as she was playing with it. Her father taught her a lot. In terms of fighting, standing for herself, but here she is, couldn't even speak for herself. "Lily, are you done?" it was her mother who invaded her room without knocking. That was when she stopped playing with the knife and kept it in her purse. "I am," she replied, but didn't glance at her mother. Even though she tries hard, she just can't look at her. "Lily, please don't make any trouble. That family is a huge family, just obey us and stay silent."Now, a bitter smirk goes on her lips. She stared at her mother unbelievably with those words she
Chapter 4"Why do you have a knife in your purse?" Aemon asked after deceiving the stubborn Lily. She was still in awe while looking at Aemon beside her. Yes, she made some trouble for her mother but it just backfired on her. "I can't believe you're asking me that after deceiving me," she said in regret. Now, she just realized that this man already knew her when she knocked on his window earlier. Aemon only pretended not to know her like they were completely strangers. "I should get to know my fiancé," he said annoyingly and even smirked at her. "I'm not gonna marry you," Lily said confidently as if she could not really marry Aemon. He simply chuckled before getting out of the car and leaving her alone. In the next minute, Aemon went to open the door for her. "You can't stay there," he said, trying to stop himself from smirking. That annoys her and he can feel it, it's all over her face. "I bring a knife so I can kill people that I am annoyed with," Lily uttered as soon as she go
Chapter 5"I am coming, Dash." Lily snaps herself in the mirror after wearing her earrings. She's simply wearing a beige coat that pairs with her beige pencil skirt. Her hair was tied in half while a piece of hair was hanging in front of her face. Her beauty is indeed distractive and addictive. One look and a man can easily fall for her. "Hurry up, loser." Lily rolled her eyes before hanging up. "Where are you going?" her mother asked as she opened the door of her room. How can she ever have a good day if she always sees her mother? Sometimes, Lily thinks that marrying that man named Aemon is definitely the better way to avoid her mother. "I'm going to meet my friend," she simply answered, not looking at her. "Who's your friend?" it almost made her chuckle. "Dash, who else?" she replied sarcastically. "You can't spend much time with him, Lily. Aemon is on his way here. Your engagement will be tonight," she rolled her eyes again and again. Why is she acting like a caring mother
Chapter 6"D-Dad... " Lily's hands were cold and shivering as she kneeled on the road in front of her father who's lying lifelessly. She could not identify him anymore with the blood covering his entire body. Tears keep falling down from her lovely eyes and down to her cheeks. "D-Daddy…" She started crying a river as soon as she tried to touch him...but then, she couldn't do it. She can't bear to touch those wounds from the shots on his body. "Who did this to you?" Lily asked in anger. People are around them, watching her cry aloud all the pain and anger while embracing the dead body of her father. There are bullets on the road—tons of bullets as if there was an attack here. "Daddy, don't leave me!" she cried all over again, ignoring all the people's eyes on me. Lily doesn't know what to do or how to fvcking react. She couldn't let go of him in her arms and she didn't even know if she could. "Lily," her mother caressed her back while the tears from her beautiful eyes were alread
Chapter 7 "He died because of the accident," his Uncle said to them while Lily was not by herself, sitting in the hospital. Her hands and her white uniform are covered with the blood of his own father. She couldn't think properly after what she saw. "It was a cruel accident," her mother added. "Accident? That is fvcking ridiculous, Mom!" she shouted with a glimpse of anger from her voice. Tears couldn't stop from falling in her eyes. She knew she was torn apart and that she just wanted to die as well. Her father died and how is she supposed to continue her life the next day without him? Can you believe it? Her mother is turning a blind eye to the real death of her father. Lily can't just understand why she is acting like this. They are all pathetic, making her believe their absurd reason for his father's death. "Lily, there are witnesses who told the police that it was all a car accid—" Lily cackled, mocking her Aunt who was still alive that day. "Car accident my fvcking ass! T
Chapter 8 Lily was in the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror. After Aemon took a bath, she cleaned herself as well. She even removed all her make up and applied all her skincare. Lily decided to wear a white big size shirt and simple black cycling. Unlike the other girls, she prefers sleeping while wearing a huge size shirt because she feels more comfortable. "D*mn it," she uttered a firm curse. How is she supposed to get out of there and sleep? She used to sleep alone in her bed and now, she's married. They are supposed to sleep together. Thinking of Aemon's masculine body, the warmth of his breathing, his seductive lips, and his perfect face for a man makes everything hard for Lily. "Hey, are you gonna sleep there?" Aemon already knocked on the door when Lily was not coming out from there. He's d*mn worried that something happened to Lily there. It's been an hour and she's still there. On the other hand, Lily inside the bathroom was fvcking nervous and tense. She's even
Chapter 9 All of them are watching him eat. Lily could not even remain eating as she was busy staring at him as well. Aemon looks like a ghost they all saw. This is like a miracle for all of them. He never goes home just to eat dinner. Aemon was so workaholic that he almost used his office as his second home. "How's your day?" he asked and put the cut slices of the shrimp on Lily's plate. She didn't notice that though. Her eyes were too focused on him. "You go home?" she asked like a naive woman. It's not like she doesn't want him to go home, that's what she actually likes. But then, this is just unbelievable after hearing what Mica told her earlier when he was gone. Aemon chuckled and shook his head. He almost cursed in his head after seeing his wife act so cute. "Of course. I have a wife to look at," he replied seductively. The maids giggled and even hit each other a little while watching them. They both look like a sweet couple."You're workaholic, I thought you weren't plann
Chapter 10"I'm so full," he commented while yawning. Aemon went back to his table after eating lunch with his wife. Lily was on top of the world, watching her husband enjoy her food. Good thing her father taught him to cook some dishes when he was alive. He loves cooking and it was all for her mother. She remembers how she always watched him do everything in the kitchen. Maybe that is how she adapted everything. "Are you going home?" Lily asked and sat on the chair in front of his table. The mountains of papers on his desk makes her sick already. This is the reason why he became a workaholic. "Of course…for you," he added in the end without meeting her eyes that were focused on him. He's indeed a busy man, but what Mica told her keeps playing in her mind every time she looks at him. How did he survive all those days? Beyond that, he still became this rich. While her, she couldn't even figure out how she would continue her life. "Excuse me," the door opened after three knocks and t
