Chapter 21

Lana woke up in her own fluffy bed the Monday after Thanksgiving.

She felt terrible. They’d had a wonderful time—an amazing time, even— and she knew she was overreacting, that her guilt was unwarranted, that Roman would laugh at her for freaking out over what, after all, had been his idea.

She couldn’t stop thinking about Jackson, either. The last thing he’d said to her before she left was, “You know what I’m thankful for this year? You.”

And then he’d kissed her thoroughly.

She moved through the day completely in a trance, barely seeing the smiling baby faces that stared up at her from each page that Roman had her working on.

 “Lana.” Roman’s voice cut through her daze as she stared at a photo album in his suite that night. “Are you alright? You’ve been looking at that same picture for ten minutes.”

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she responde
