Alpha Logan

Alpha Logan:

Alpha Logan leaves to catch up with his flight. After sitting at the airport shortly, trying to understand what happened between me and Logan; I go home.

On getting home, I see everyone at the living room. My dad consoles my mom we cries uncontrollably. Mason sits on the couch with both hands buried in his hair and Clara rubs his shoulder.

“Hi, everyone. Surprise?”

As soon as my mom sees me, she runs to me and embraces me.

“My baby, you were going to leave your family again weren’t you? And this time you weren’t going to let anyone contact you”

“I’m sorry mom, I’m sorry I just…”

Tears decorates my face and leaves me unable to sleep. My dad sighs in relief and smiles at me.

After some minutes of tearful embraces, Mason helps me take my bags back to the bedroom. He stands by my door and leans against the frame.

“What made you change your mind?”

“Well, I don’t really know. Let’s say I ran into an angel.”

“Angel huh? I’m curious. Layla stopped you?”

He smiles deviously.

“Not really, I haven’t texted or called her since yesterday”

“What could it be then?”

“I just had a change of heart that’s all”

“Well, I’m glad you had a change of heart. Our parents were devastated.”

“Like you weren’t”

“Oh please, like I’d ever be devastated over you leaving.”

We laughed briefly

“I’ll leave you to freshen up now, come out for breakfast in a bit. We haven’t had breakfast.”

“I’m sorry about that”

“It’s fine, I’m just glad you’re back home where you belong.”

He leaves the room and closes the door.

I sit on my bed, the events that happened earlier today is something difficult for me to comprehend. Logan and I… we really did something like that.

“I should probably text Layla. She must be worried sick about me.”

My memory flashes back to when I threw my sim away. I am unable to make a phone call.

I’d go over to her house but there’s no way I’ll go there, I don’t know if she still lives with her brother.

Thoughts flood my head as I enter my bathroom and turn on the shower. I graze my lips with my fingers and smile carelessly.

“Ruby dear! You have a visitor”

“My mom’s voice comes from outside my room.”

“Visitor? I wonder who that could be”

In the living room, Marcus sits waiting as I walk in.

“Hey, Ruby!”

“Marc! Hey, it’s quite a surprise seeing you here.”

I grab a bottle of water from the refrigerator and sit by next to him

“Well, I haven’t really seen much of you since you returned.”

“I know, I apologize for that, I haven’t been giving you any time. I’m really sorry about that.”

“Ruby”

“Yeah?”

He gives me an intense stare for some seconds before speaking again.

“Why are your eyes swollen?”

“Nothing gets past you huh? You’re still as observant as you were during childhood.”

“I’ve been sleeping a lot, there’s nothing much to do since I haven’t gotten a job in town yet.”

Marcus laughs and grabs my bottle of water, he gulps it down and gives the bottle back to me.

“You’ve always been a really bad liar you know”

“Have I now?”

“Remember the time when you threw a rock and it broke my dog’s leg and then- WAIT minute, you’re trying to change the topic.”

“Caught me”

I laugh nervously trying to turn my face away from him.

“You’ve been crying a lot, why have you been crying? You look horrible.”

“It’s nothing I can’t handle, you don’t have to worry about me. It’s my problem and I’ll be fine.”

“How could you say that? You don’t wanna share things with us anymore?”

“Us?”

“Layla has been worried sick about you. We’ve called and texted you over a hundred times. The only reason why Layla isn’t here too is because she’s busy with work.”

“Oh, I see.”

Marcus never gets upset and he never raises his voice. The fact that he raised his voice at me shows how worried about me they really were.

“I’m sorry, Marcus. I’m sorry for making both you and Layla worried about me, I’ll be fine; I promise.”

“Swear?”

“I swear to the moon goddess.”

He smiles at me and nods his head.

“You still like ice cream?”

“Like I’d ever hate ice cream.”

“Then we should go out and get some. “

“We should. You’re buying”

“Of course I am, it’s my treat. But first, we need ice cubes to get rid of those swellings around your eyes.”

“Do they look that bad?”

“They look terrible actually.”

“I’ll get the ice, you’re so mean!”

He laughs as I get up and walk to the refrigerator to get ice cubes.

Immediately I open the refrigerator, a loud scream is heard coming from upstairs

“the baby is coming!”

“Mason! Mason”

My dad calls out to Mason and he runs inside the house and gets to his room.

“Clara is in labor, your baby is coming!”

Screams can be heard from Clara as Mason supports her and brings her downstairs to get her in the car.

“You’re going to be just fine honey, you’re going to be okay.”

Mason tosses the car keys to Marcus and he understands immediately, he rushes outside and opens the car door. Marcus starts up the car and waits for Mason to bring Clara in.

After much struggling, she gets in the car and it zooms off. My parents drive out in my dad’s car and I’m left at home.

I contemplated going with them but I am not properly dressed for going out.

“So I’m gonna be an aunt?”

I jump for joy and celebrate. A part of me dislikes Clara but I’m gonna have to put my differences with her.

“I should dress and go to the baby store. I should buy them baby presents, I’m gonna be an aunt!”
