In the afternoon, I went to visit Grace at her workplace. I needed to vent to someone about what had happened today with Hayden. I knew she would come up with some offhand comment that would make me laugh.

"Apple cider or cyanide?" Grace asked me.

I smiled and sat down in front of her.

"I suggested we hook up, and he said no," I told her.

Grace's mouth dropped open, then she furrowed her brow.

"I thought he was into you," she said.

I nodded.

"He wants us to have some kind of non-relationship. I just don't get it," I said.

Grace looked even more confused than I was.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"He wants us to hang out, and if at any point in our non-relationship we want to hook up, we will, but he doesn't want just sex. He wants there to be, like, feelings or something," I said.

Grace crossed her arms.

"That boy is weird," she said.

I nodded vigorously.

"Exactly! He's too weird," I said.
