The night came, and I was biting my nails out of nervousness. I looked at the clock again and took a deep breath. Hayden should have arrived half an hour ago. What if she told him and now he wants nothing to do with me? I scratched my head in desperation and started pacing in circles in the kitchen; the nerves were killing me.

"Please, come quickly," I pleaded to nothing.

I heard the door open. I rushed out of the kitchen; Hayden was coming in. I ran to him and hugged him tightly.

"What's wrong?" he asked me.

I stepped back from him and started crying.

"I swear I didn't know," I began to say.

Hayden grabbed my face in his hands and looked at me in terror.

"What's going on?" he asked again.

I kept crying. I didn't even know how to begin telling him what had happened.

"Kat, please calm down," he begged me.

I took a deep breath and nodded.

"I'm sorry," I apologized.

"I believe you, but I don't understand anything," he said.

I moved away from him and looked into his eyes.
