I petted Duke once more before straightening myself up and calling out to her. "Dawson wait" I called out. I couldn't let her leave at least not without talking to her first. I wasn't sure if she didn't hear me or was just ignoring me altogether seeing as she kept walking. "Malia, please wait" I called out but this time she stopped, if she didn't hear me before she definitely did now. This was the first time I'd called her by her first name since I found out that we'd be working together. just the sound of me saying her name made me feel warm inside, it felt right and fit perfectly and matched who she is.
