10: A Warning

I left the room after washing my clothes, trying to look for Manang Theresa. She told me to rest but I can't do it in this place. I will feel like a prisoner if I do.

The small table in the center with different kinds of foods was the first thing I saw. I am not that hungry but the way they made these can make me salivate. However, I still have someone to look for.

I shifted my way and went to the door I don't know where I am leading to and opened it just to find a garden full of flowers, but I won't dare to touch any of them, they could poison me.

"Who are you?" A soft voice asked me. I flinched when I heard it behind me so I turned around, looking at the girl who's wearing very simple but long clothes with a lot of dirt on it. She looks so innocent, her face is small but she has big eyes. Her hair is still silky even though it was messy.

I smiled at her. "Hi. I am Analisse, I will be the new servant here. I am looking for Manang Theresa." I think she didn't want to trust me at first, but she smiled after.

"So it's you. Manang went to the market with other servants, we need to prepare for the Young Master's arrival." My eyes widened as soon as she mentioned him.

"Are you pertaining to Sebastian?" I asked her, shock plastered on her face so I frowned. She hurriedly held my wrist and looked around.

What was she doing? "Why?" I asked her, confused about the way she acted.

Still, her expression remains in horror. I waited for her to calm down.

"You should not call Young Master by his first name." She looked down. "We are just a mere servant, we don't have the right to disrespect the Young Master. You will be beaten to death if you do." It's a warning.

Oh, that's what she wants to say. I think I really need to be careful around this place. By mentioning his name, I could face my death right away. This place really amazes me in many different ways.

I smiled and nodded my head at her. "I will remember that." I told her.

"You really need to. Young Master is impatient these days since he lost his trusted friend. I heard that he was still looking for him until now. We need to watch our actions when meeting him." I kept on nodding my head. I am curious at why they see Sebastian in that way. It seems like he is not that bad when I met him. He even helped me.

"So when will he go back here?" I asked. It can be sooner since they were already preparing.

"I don't really know. Lady Diane will depart again tomorrow to take Young Master back." Sounds like Diane can't really rest until she brings Sebastian in here.

"I have a question." I asked her. I looked around to see that no one's hearing us.

"What is it?"

"What happened to his friend?" I am curious, he doesn't want to come back because of that person. It seems really important for him, but why is he the only one looking? And the pack was even dedicated to take him back even though they knew what he was doing.

"I don't know the whole story but I heard that Master Nicolas rebelled against the rules of the pack so he was kicked out. He is Young Master's only friend since childhood so he kept on looking for him. The news told us that he was already dead in the woods, and was attacked by the notorious rogues. But the Young Master did not dare to believe, not until he saw the body." So that's what happened. Sebastian still believes his friend was alive, but I, too, will not rest if someone important to me was missing. I understand his actions.

"That's why he doesn't want to go back." She nodded her head.

"Yes. However, Lady Diane promised to the court that she will take him back no matter what. She's the only one who knows where he is, she never told anyone." Based on what she did, I can see she really cares about him, she did not tell anyone his whereabouts, maybe afraid that he will be in danger.

"What about Dia—Lady Diane." I stopped for a while, from now on I need to watch what I will say in front of them. "Is she the sister of Sebastian?" I asked. Until now, I am still skeptical about the relationship between them.

"She was adopted by Alpha Zhang, Young Master's uncle. Their whole tribe was attacked by rogues and she was the only one who survived. Alpha Zhang took care of her, she's loyal to the pack." Now I understand. They are technically siblings.

"But…" I stare at her eyes. She still wants to say something but doubts if she would do it or not.

I smiled at her. "No need to be nervous, I would not dare to leak whatever you have said right now." She smiled back after hearing me say that.

"I am just scared I would be like those who got killed." I need to know why they are so scared of Sebastian and those in the higher position. What are they doing? Or are they just really that powerful to be afraid of?

"Trust me." She nodded at me.

"Lady Diane is sometimes kinda evil, especially to us, so I need to tell you to stay away from her as much as possible."

Diane?

"Why?" I asked. Every person I meet here is mysterious as hell.

She showed me her left arm that is hidden by her long sleeve, there was a burn on it and by the looks of that burned area, it's not something she can ignore. I frowned. "What happened?" I asked and carefully examined her arm. This burn is not recent but it can be so dangerous if not healed right away. It's already in her whole arms. That's why she's wearing long sleeves.

"She's the one who did this. I need to tell you so you will not be like me. I once offended her, I don't want the same thing to happen to you." I know she's telling the truth by the look of her eyes. She's not lying, so it means that Diane really did this to her.

"I will. But first, we need to take care of it." I told her, pointing at her arms.

"There's no need, I can still hide it. And it's not that painful anymore. Weeks have passed.".

I shook my head. "It needs to heal. It's dangerous, your arms can be cut." She looked terrified when she heard that and trusted me with her arms afterwards.

"How can I cure it?" She asked, worried.

"Do you have medicine?" She nodded and showed me the way to the cabinet with herbal medicines in it.

"This is all we got. Can we get something from here?"

As soon as there is something, it can be anything.

"Yes." In the years I am with Samantha, I learned medicines through her. She taught me some, and even though she didn't. I can still see what she was doing and how she's doing it. My observations never disappoint me.

I took all the things I needed there and started boiling some water. I need to disinfect them first. After that, I made her sit on one of the chairs and put the herbs and medicinal leaves on her burned arms.

"How did you offend her?" I asked while putting the white gauge.

She sighed, maybe she remembers what happened that time.

"I…I did not mean to stare at her eyes that time. I saw a scar under her left eye that caught my attention. I couldn't help it, but she saw me. She got hysterical and did this." That scar. I think there's more than that mere scar. I felt bad for this woman.

"You need to be careful next time. Sometimes people don't want to be stared at." I reminded her and she just nodded her head, feeling ashamed of what she did. "What's your name by the way?"

"Solana. My name is Solana, but you can call me Sole."

"Solana, do you know your name means sunshine?" I asked her. Her eyes speak its meaning too.

She looks happy when she learns it. I guess she didn't know until now.

"Really? I did not know. We haven't learned anything but the basics, I even have a hard time to write or read. My mother gave that name to me. I guess I am her sunshine." Her eyes got teary, remembering her mother. I bit my lips. I know I am still lucky I had the chance to know my parents and have the time to be with them. I wonder what they are doing now. I haven't spoken to them when I get back, and maybe, I won't see them again in this life.

It doesn't matter if they don't want me now. I just wish they are well and alive. Hope that Argus and Samantha still have mercy left for them. Not because I am their daughter, but because they also loved them as their own child.

"It's done," I said before letting go of her arm.

She smiled. "I am grateful to meet you, I haven't spoken with anyone else these days except for Manang Theresa. Others are scared to fall with the same fate as mine. But I have you here now, you won't leave me right?" She asked, there's hope in her eyes. I don't really know if I would stay here longer but as long as I can help them. I will.

I nodded my head. "As long as they want me here, I will stay." I told her.

I flinched when she hugged me. I remembered Rose, I guess she's the same age as her. I miss her.

"Thank you, Analisse. I promise to be kind to you!" She then let me go. I nodded my head as a sign of agreement.

"When will Manang be back?" I asked and stood up.

"Later at night, for now let's eat. I already prepared food for us." So she's the one who prepared those dishes. I can feel my stomach now, I think I need to eat real food.

"Where are the others?" I asked. I guess she's not the only one living here.

"They are busy preparing too, I was told to look after you here for a while. They will eat after the business is done."

"Okay." I replied.

"I…I want to ask something." I was busy minding my food when she spoke. I raised my head to look at her and she's just holding the spoon while curiosity plastered on her face.

"What is it?" I gave her the assurance to ask, I can see she's not sure if she will say it to me.

"How Young Master and Lady Diane found you?" She stopped for a moment, while I was stunned by the question. "Hm, I mean. Manang surely won't ask since she trusts the Young Master, and I too. I am just really curious."

"It's okay." I guess it's not that bad to let her know how Sebastian helped me so I began telling her what happened except for the reason why I was kicked out from the pack.

She was shocked for a moment. Maybe she can't believe that Sebastian would help me since he doesn't know me.

"Young Master really helped you, and he even let you be his servant himself. Many ladies with high positions want to be his servant in order to get close to him but you, you were the chosen one." Her shocked expression changed to excitement.

"I am glad I met you first! I can tell everyone that you are my friend now, maybe they won't bully me again!" I chuckled because of her temper.

"Remember that I am just a servant, I won't have any connections with him other than that." I told her. Why is she thinking like I was going to be his right hand man? I am not in the Silver wolf pack.

"Alright. I understand, but who knows who." I shook my head. She's kinda naughty.

While we were eating, a loud thud came from the door. Someone hurriedly went inside, panting and there was a horror on her face.

We both stood up from our seats to look at the person. Based on how she dressed, she is one of the servants.

"Solana! Lady Diane wants to see you!"

"W-What?"

What's happening?
