Chapter Two.

*FIVE YEARS LATER*

Charles's POV.

"I'm sorry. I will let you know my decision later in the day. You can speak with my secretary, and she would give you a date we could get to meet with each other." I was not comfortable with what the CEO was telling me at the time.

I happened to know about his company, and it turned out that I was not looking for someone like him. My company was going to do his company a very huge favor, but it wouldn't add anything to mine.

We live in a selfish world. We have to make sure that we don't get to help people anyhow without getting anything in return, especially when it comes to business.

I should have rejected him straight, but I didn't want to become the one that everyone fears.

"Okay!" He excused himself from where I was. I took the shot that was on the table while I gulped down all the wine that was in it. The meeting was a little bit boring for me. I wasn't a fan of parties, and I didn't know how to interact with people either.

I just came here for one reason: "He would be here soon." Linda, my secretary, came to inform me while I nodded. It was almost time for me to meet with David. I haven't seen David before, so I don't know what he looks like.

He is one of the youngest millionaires, close to being a billionaire. I am the youngest billionaire in the whole country. I still find that amusing, though.

"Just bring him here to me when he is around." I instructed her, while she walked out of my sight.

I heard about him and his company. He said he wanted to see me, and I felt it would be so great if the two of us got to cooperate with each other. I looked around the crowd while my eyes spotted Erika.

"Erika?" I muttered under my breath upon seeing her. My heart started beating a little bit faster. I didn't know the reason why it was that way. All that we had with each other came back to mind.

She is back in town? I remembered how much I looked for her after what happened, but I didn't get to find her. Seeing her this night was so shocking to me.

Our eyes met, and she stared at me for a while before she started moving to where I was. How does she get to come to a party like this? "Erika! Long time, no see." I greeted her immediately, and she got to where I was.

"It has been long. I was expecting to see you here, and I saw you. Your job really suits you well. You look so good as the CEO." She complimented me with a smile on her face.

The smile on her face still looked the same. Why was she trying to act like nothing happened between us? I bet she doesn't even have feelings for me anymore after what I did to her. I bet she doesn't even know the reason why I did that a few years ago.

"Yes! You always wanted to see me in this position, and now you are seeing me." I reminded her while she chuckled. She itched her head in nervousness. "I am so sorry. Did I really say that? I can't remember." She stated while the smile faded from her face slowly.

"It was so weird meeting like this. You should enjoy this meeting." She told me, with the very straight expression on her face.

"I have been looking for you, Erika. Where have you been?" I saw a man interrupting our discussion. The way he placed his hand on he shoulder was a little bit annoying.

Are they in a relationship? Why was he acting that way with her. "I have been here." She said to him while she pecked him right in my presence. I swallowed my saliva while I watched the both of them displaying their love play right at my front.

What are they up to? "Oh! I am so sorry. I am David Wilson." He stretched out his hand for a handshake. He is David? Doesn't even he recognize me? I guess we don't even know each other.

"I am Charles Evans." I introduced myself to him while his hand covered his mouth in shock. I guess he was really surprised..

"Oh! I am so sorry that I didn't get to recognize you." He apologized to me

"It isn't your fault. You just happened not to recognize you, I bet he doesn't know that you were the one also." Erika chipped in while I scoffed.

Out of anger, I grabbed her arm and took her out of the hall. My hand was still on her wrists.

"Who is he? How are you two related to each other? Are you in a relationship already?" I questioned her out of curiosity. I didn't know if I was just being angry, or I was just being jealous.

"You are hurting me, Charles." She told me while I looked at her wrists, and then let her go.

"What made you think that I was going to reply you? Have you forgotten you never loved me? Why are you acting this way? Are you just being insecure?" She scoffed. How was I going to explain to her that everything I said the other day was just a lie.

How was I going to tell her that I was diagnosed with a terminal sickness? I might get to die anytime also?

"What if he is just playing you or something? Are you two in a relationship?" I furthered questioned her. I really want to control myself, and stop asking her these questions, but I couldn't just control myself.

"You didn't have to drag her out that way, don't you think that was too disrespectful of you?" I heard David voice, and saw him right behind her. She was putting on a strapless gown, while he brought out his suit and he wore it for her.

"She is someone special to me. Do you have any problems with it?" He furthered questioned me while he walked to her front.

"We should get going, David. There is no need for us to talk to him. I will explain everything to you at home." Erika held his arm, while she almost walked out of me.

"Whoever I am with has nothing to do with you. When you got my parents' shares and cheated on me, we have nothing to do with each other since then. So you should just mind your business." She turned back to me only for her to tell me that before she got to walk away complete

ly with their arms intertwined.

What the hell is happening to me?
