Chapter Thirteen

Almost a month had passed with no sign of either Kenton or my mother.  Needless to say, I was worried.  I expressed my concern to Godwin about my mother, but I was too proud to admit that Kenton had loved me and left me.  His promise to see what he could find out about what my mom was up to eased a good deal of my fear.

We’d completed yet another day of lessons and were headed into the kitchen to magically whip up dinner when he said, “I don’t know about you, but I’ve got cabin fever.  What do you say we get out of here for a while.  Let’s eat out.”

Other than run to the store for a few supplies, I hadn’t been off the mountain to explore, let alone go out for a relaxing evening.  It sounded wonderful.  After agreeing to meet in the foyer in thirty minutes, we parted company so that we could go to our  respective rooms and quickly clean up.  

I was both excited and sad as I ble
