Stepping into the town of Dzhimara, home of the wolves was very overwhelming for Eve. So many mixed emotions can be felt when facing them but she remains strong to face whatever reaction presented towards her but she had never expect a reaction so negative and angry form the crowds.
Eve still smile though, nervously to the crowd the whole time but her smile drops seeing some of the crowds had a disgust look towards her. Some of them was snickering at her while some left looking annoyed. It was still a large crowd but most of them was human. Her heart drops and she look down.
Adam seems to be super excited about the wedding so much that as soon as they have arrived a week ago, he ordered his servants to prepare for the wedding as soon as possible. The royal throne room was decorated with so many red flowers, red curtains which bring color to the dark walls of the castle. Eve has already established that these people are obsessed with the color black and red. These colors are so intimidating and that’s how the wolves want to present themselves. Powerful and fearless. The huge room for the ceremony was able to fit thousand
Eve days went by quite fast and within a week of being married, she was the happiest she could be. She spends most of her time with Adam in their room. Every moment with him was precious and he made sure that it would be memorable every time he made love to her and treated her like a queen. She never wanted that moment to end but as King and Queen of one of the strongest nations in Afhrin, royal duties never end and they had to cut their honeymoon short. Not that Adam would complain as he always makes up all of his lost time at night when they reach their bedroom. He was insatiable for sure but she loves it when he practically worships her. His words, not hers.
Eve seems to enjoy her time learning and understanding Dzhimara with Ariadne by her side. She is always cheerful and helpful. It was clear that Ariadne adores Eve and she felt the same way too. It helps seeing Eve wasn’t well accepted by most wolves yet. It was a dreadful day when Eve decided to visit the town of Dzhimara without Adam for he was busy. She decided to visit there secretly but was accompanied by Khalid, Damien, and Ariadne. They were in disguise to avoid too much attention. Eve was amazed at how different the town was from Zhatiera. Zhatiera was a landfill with snow so every street would be drowned in it and being a Zhatierian that she was, the cold weather never
Eve was walking in the hallway when Nika suddenly shows up in front of her. She looks upsets and when she suddenly pulled her hand, Khalid and Damien’s body becomes tense. Eve’s as well. “Oh, Eve. My dear sister. I am so sorry for what had happen. I heard that you were hurt when you visit the town. I wish I could do something to help. Are you alright?” Eve was looking at her with disbelief. Was her ear right? Did she just act like she wasn’t at the town yesterday? Was it her imagination seeing Nika at the corner of the tea shop, handing bags of coins
That night, Eve sits on a chair which she pulls closer to the fireplace. Being a Zhatierians, heat was never a necessity but the warmth of the fire makes her feel at peace. When the door slams open behind her, she turns to see Adam walking unsteadily with Niko and Damien carrying him. Adam’s face was flushed and he was grunting in a low voice. Eve sigh and helped him to his bed. After they both left looking worried, she gently changes his cloth and wipe his face with a small clean towel. She showers him with love and places a small kiss on his forehead. It hurts when he was mean to her earlier but seeing how handsome and precious he was, she could not find the urge to be angry anymore and slowly re
That night, Eve brought Marion to the forest to bury her. She was sobbing and the sound that came from her lips tore Khalid, Ariadne, and Damien’s hearts. The same sadness can be seen in Khalid’s eyes. Even though he tries to stand still and be brave, his eyes were red, and tears pool inside them. Damien too shares the same emotion they all have. Eve was pouring a jug of water with daisies and what is left of Marion’s feathers she could find in the kitchen. Some of it was thrown out by the cooks. Her left cheek was swollen and painful to touch and a cut formed on her lips from Adam’s wrath. Marion’s grave is now frozen solid, just like how every fallen Zhatiera would be buried.
The next day, Eve made sure to avoid Adam at all costs for she didn’t want him to know of what he had done. He was drunk that night so Eve believes in her heart that Adam had no intention of hurting her at all. Moreover, Adam himself seems to be avoiding her as well. He’s still angry that Eve had danced with his enemy. That very day, Adam and Dante have decided that peace between wolves and vampires is inevitable, and to make it fair, he let Dante go peacefully with his coven to avoid any unwanted death in Dzhimara. There were humans after all. Before Dante left, Dante actually sneaked into her window when Adam was busy. Eve was lying on her bed, knitting a sweater when she felt his presence.
It was a beautiful moment indeed but Eve realise now that not all good things last. She had learned it the hard way. Visiting the human settlement has become a routine for her every day when Adam leaves her all alone. She didn’t think that visiting these humans would be a problem but she was dead wrong. Nika being Nika found out about her daily visits and quickly informed Adam. He became furious. “Are you out of your mind? Hanging around those savages will only ruin the reputation of this palace! They are nothing but parasites in this land. Weak and should be ignored at all times. It was good enough that I allow them to stay but you, you are making me regret that decision.”
