2 || Loving My Brother’s Wife (II)

Breakfast is almost normal without Denise at the dining table. She must be preparing for work. I add more syrup to the mini pile of pancakes on my plate, a sick smile playing on my lips at the amount of sugary stuff I’m eating. I’ll work it out at the gym later.

Darius looks up from his newspaper, then at the pancakes. “How’s it coming with the house?”

I take a sip of my coffee, all black, no sugar, before answering. “Okay.” Apparently, renovations take half as long as building a new house. “I’ll be out of your hair soon,” I say with a fake laugh.

“No, man. I like having you here.”

So I can hear the screams of his wife as he beats the shit out of her. No, thanks. In silence, I stir the content of my cup and Darius resumes reading. My hands wrap around the mug, the heat warms my palms and probably melts my senses because I hear myself speaking out of turn.

“I thought you said it was a one time thing,” I mutter, meeting his gaze with a scowl.

The similarities between us become more glaring. Fair skin. Dark hair, bushy brows, brown eyes and pouty lips. Some people say they have trouble telling the more handsome brother between both of us. They are liars. It’s easy. I’m such a hottie. Besides, I don’t hit women. I pleasure them.

The underlying question in my words is not lost on Darius. We had a long talk after my first night here. I mean, our father is a bastard, his blood flows through our veins but we mustn’t act like him. Darius folds the newspaper on the table. His Adam apple bobs as he gulps down his orange juice.

“It was.” I arch a brow. So, he’s a wife beater and a liar. Got it. “You can ask her.” This man is an idiot. Sadly, we are related. His head turns in the direction of the door, he curves his hands around his lips. “Denise?”

I almost bring out my iPhone to ask Siri to play me: You must think I’m stupid, you must think I’m a fool. If I were to reply, I would have insulted him so I keep mute and offer him a curt nod. His wife will always play along anyway. Plus, I am in his house, I still owe him some respect.

“Think she’s busy,” he adds when he gets no response.

I grunt and continue the meal that loses its taste in my mouth. Denise walks into the dining room, her eyes light up when they settle on Darius. She hasn’t noticed me yet. Darius’s chair squeaks as he jumps to his feet. He crosses over to her, spins her in a circle that elicits a giggle from her.

Yeah. You don’t fool me, brother.

Bile jumps to my throat when he pecks her soundly on her lips. Well, Beauty kissed a beast too. He cups her butt, maybe to mark his territory or prove his statement and I lose a few brain cells when he winks at me. It will take more than this shit-show to convince me. And her smile is too forced.

Denise steps away from him. She holds something up that catches my attention. “Sweetheart, can you help me with this?”

I can help her alright, all she has to do is ask. Darius steps behind her to fix her necklace, she avoids my gaze and I sneer at her head. She annoys me and my dick. Her pendant is heart-shaped with a tiny diamond at its centre. I’ll recognise it anywhere because I helped Darius pick it. It was my idea to gift her the jewellery.

Denise notices me staring and her hand closes around the pendant.

Wait a goddamn minute. Where’s her black eye? Whatever magic Denise did to her face should be learned, the mark is gone. It blends perfectly with her brown skin.

Fuck. She is covering up for him.

“Dave, I was thinking we could go to the golf course together when I return,” my brother says. I force a grin to my lips. “What say you?”

We can go so I’ll smash his skull in with the golf stick. “Sure.”

“Denise can join us.” He looks at her with a smile too wide to be real. “Babe, you in?”

Alright, that’s it. I have exhausted my fucks for today. This charade is killing me. I storm out of the dining room without a reply to them and dive for my bed.

This fucking place suffocates me.

Each day is a reminder of the mistake of coming here. They look the perfect couple to outsiders. Fucking actors. I reach blindly for my laptop on the bed and my fingers brush the sleek device. One of the perks of being a developer is the freedom to work from home. Going to the office is more to confirm my existence. I scream into the pillow and my head raises when my door squeaks open.

“What was the meaning of that?” Denise asks.

Shouldn’t she be on her way to work with her sweetheart? That’s about the most nauseating pet name I’ve heard. One hand drops to her waist, her brows furrow as she waits on my reply.

My eyes devour her hungrily, raking her body from toe to head. If Denise was mine...  Lord have mercy. I will ask her to grip the study desk in a corner of my room, then bunch her skirt at the waist and fuck her so hard I’m the only thing she will remember for a month or even a year. The last woman I fucked went about without panties but I can’t imagine Denise doing the same.

She is too... Uptight? Can’t entirely blame her. Anyway, I’ll make sure she keeps her high heels on as I slowly take her from the back. Does she moan as loud as she screams when he fucks her?

Nope. Won’t think of that.

“I am talking to you, David.” She was? I roll to my back and fold my hands behind my head so she sees the strong arms I’ll use to cuddle her when we are done fucking. I’ll protect, not hit her. She closes her eyes and lets out a soft breath. I like the nude lipstick on her. “I can’t have your brother thinking there’s anything between us.”

“Is there?”

“Of course not,” she retorts. Her nostrils flare, lips purse. I stifle a groan as an illicit image spills over me. Instead of the desk, I will press her against the door. Who knew a woman could look this hot in a pleated skirt? Damn her. “But you walking out like that gave the wrong impression.”

“Denny.” She gulps. “Have a good day.”

I turn my back to her and bury my face in the pillow until I hear the sound of the door closing.

Seconds after she’s gone, I spring out of the bed and frown at the little man straining against my shorts. There’s a small stain in front of my shorts. Shame on him. And I need a cold bath.

After a bath that calms my nerves and dick, I scroll through my contact list looking for a lay. Alina and Tina are out. Both of them can go fuck themselves. A WattsApp text pops in from a certain Mia. I have no idea who she is but I have her number saved so it has to count for something, right?

We chit chat. Well, I try. If she’s on my contact list, then she has to be a good fuck or a BJ expert with those lips I see on her profile. I wouldn’t have her number otherwise, she knows nothing. We fix a meeting. I do a little dance in front of the mirror before getting to work on my laptop.

Hours later, when the sky looks dark enough for a tumble in the sheets with a familiar stranger, I change into something fuck-worthy and apply my cologne. My phone rings right as I am about to step out of the room. Mia. On a sigh, I run a hand over my face and swipe right on my screen.

“Hey,” I say. She replies with an excitement that makes me chuckle. Her voice doesn’t sound so bad.

I walk back to the front of the mirror to check myself out. Has to be a crime to be this sexy.

Mia says something about meeting at the club first. My forehead wrinkles as I think up the best reply to her. She has to understand we are not whatever she hopes we might be after tonight.

“Can’t miss the chance,” Mia adds in a bid to convince me. Fine. I can play along just for tonight.

“What club?” I hum at her reply and end the call before she makes another ludicrous demand.

“You’re going to the club?” I jump. Shit. “Sorry,” Denise says. She tears her gaze away from me in the mirror and I finger comb my hair. Why is she here? I steal another glance at her. She is out of her work clothes. When did she get back? Not my business. “Didn’t mean to scare you.”

“You didn’t.”

Her disbelief is evident but who cares, she’s standing in the way of my release. I stalk towards her, expecting her to move aside but she stands in my path like a damn officer at a correctional facility. Only that, she’s beautiful and has no pot belly. I can easily throw her over my shoulder and toss her on the bed.

“Can’t leave with you in my way,” I tell her. She stretches out her arms. Not today, not now. I don’t have time for this. “Out of the way, Denny.”

She squares her jaw. “Where are you going?”

“To fuck.”

Denise chokes. Her body vibrates and she sucks in a greedy gulp of air. When she recovers, she fixes me with a look that screams: I don’t believe you. I shrug. I am respecting her bloody union like she asked me to.

“Can I join you?”

It’s my turn to choke. My chest heaves as I try to control the dry laughter spilling out of my lips. The fuck is wrong with this woman? Her lips curl in a smirk. Na. No threesome. Just me and her.

“What?” I murmur. She levels me with a blank stare. “You want to join me to fuck?”

“I know you are going to the club, David.” She crosses her arms on her chest. My God. That rack right there is the perfect size. It can hold a dick—my dick. Denise snaps her fingers in my face. I do little to hide the fact I was eye-fucking her. She lets out a heavy sigh. Cute. “Can I join you?”

“Where’s Darius?” I ask instead.

“Out of town for two days. Didn’t he tell you?”

I scratch the back of my head, cheeks growing warm under her gaze. “He must have.”

“So?” My brows furrow. “Can I join you? I need to get out of the house for a bit.” She widens her eyes and offers me a small smile that does insane things to my heart. Yep, it will take more than one night with Mia to get this woman out of my system. “I promise I won’t cockblock you.”

She can block my cock all she wants if it’s with those lips. Oh, man. I am fucked. She looks just as good without the makeup, I see now that the spot over her eye has faded. Forcing my thoughts out of the gutter, I pull out the keys from my back pocket and drop it on her outstretched hand.

“You’re driving.”
