She's home

Jackson POV

"Is this seat taking?" a masculine voice asked me.

At this point, I was moderately wasted with alcohol, and I turned my head to the right to gaze at a built dark skin guy standing over me whose outfit looked superior and deluxe.

"Brother, your suit makes you seem stuck up, and it's ruining my pleasant mood.“ I mumbled, judging if I needed someone next to me right now.

“ Haha,” a laugh slipped from his lips, and he didn't seem offended by my words.

“You can sit near me since you are handsome, and if you are sitting next to me, it is in my favor.“

“Why?“

“Did you notice how those ladies' eyes immediately rolled off me and on you? You are everything I need to make my night perfect." I mumbled, picking up my shot glass.

The stare I was getting from the girls from the other table was annoying, and their constant whispering to each other was screwing with me.

"I am Chris." The fellow said as he seized the seat next to me.

"David, Jackson David," I told him, ignoring the smile he gave me.

As the night went on and Chris and I engage in business discussion, he seemed amazed at how much I knew about the tech world.

The look of pride on his face as he listened to me made me also tell him about my ideal project and how I could not support this proposal because of limited resources and cash.

During my entire explanation for my project, the astounded expression on Chris's face did not change, even after I concluded my explanation.

For a couple of minutes, we sat in silence staring at each other, and then he tapped the counter gently, mumbling, "You are a brilliant man. Unfortunately, you are also a drunk man right now.“

“ True,” I whispered, emptying my glass of whiskey into my gut.

“Your ideas are extraordinary, and I would like us to discuss your project further.“

“ Hah!“

“I am serious and will pay a visit to your office some days from now.“

In between the intoxication of alcohol and my heartache, I couldn't bring myself to believe that Chris would be able to invest in a multi-billion dollars project.

But when he stood from the stool, I felt a bit concerned and gazed at him as he paid his bill to the bartender.

“I am taking my leave now, Mr. David.  It is truly a pleasure chatting with you."

Silently, I stared at him, not knowing what to say when he gave me a faint smile, and then he walked away from the bar.

"Jackson, who was that guy?" Steven's voice drew my attention away from Chris, and I stared at him approaching me.

When he arrived at the bar, I reached out for my other full glass, but Steven grabbed my wrist, and I firmly looked at him, but he did not let go until I set the glass down.

"I don't know him. He said something about wanting to invest in my project. I think he is a scam artist. I mean, who wears a coat suit to a club and only drinks one glass of shot?" I said as I picked up my phone to check the time.

The screen displayed that it was midnight on the dot, and I knew it was a bit too late to keep Julie out here since it was my first time taking her out.

"It's late. I need to take Julie home." I said, putting my phone in my pocket and walking towards the table where Julie sat.

"How did you get Julie to warm up to you? I have been talking to her the entire night, and she keeps avoiding the personal questions that I asked her." Steven uttered with a hint of desperation in his voice.

“What did you ask her?“

“Well… I kind of asked her if she was seeing anyone… But she pretended not to hear me and said she wanted to go home.

My buddy sudden interest in Julie had me puzzled a bit because we had been friends for a long time, and this was the first time he seem desperate for another woman who was not Chloe which was a good thing, although the whiff of eagerness felt weird.

"I don't know.“ I mumbled, trying to think of something.

“Come on, man!“

“Perhaps Julie feels at ease with me because I am married, and I love my wife. That may be the reason she could confide in me.“

“Okay. Then how can I make her comfortable with me since I don't have a wife?“

“How about you offer her a job at the company? Then you can have the time and opportunity to get to know her."

We were a short distance away from Julie when I said those words, and Steven didn't say anything afterward.

“Are we leaving?“ Julie asked, waking from her seat.

“Yes,” I said as I watched her grab her phone and purse off the table.

"Are you going to drive, why drunk?" Julie asked, meeting my eyes.

But I did not answer her question because I  was busy saying my goodbyes to Steven, and after she told him “Bye,” I led her away, away from the VIP room, and out of the club.

When we arrived outside the building, I noticed that Julie was walking slowly, and she kept giving me side-eyes.

"Trust me. Driving and drinking are two common things, and I am excellent at handling both. Don't be frightened. I swear that I won't allow you to die before having your first kiss." I teased her, trying to reduce the tension between us.

After a couple of hours of slow driving, I stopped the car in front of my house, and Julie got out.

Then She smiled at me as I turned off the engine and got out of the vehicle, walking over to her.

"I had the most excellent time tonight, and Steven is interesting, do not give him confidence by telling him about what I said,"  Julie mumbled, widening her smile.

"I promise. It is our secret," I told her.

"Since I have your assurance, I better take my leave. Thank you for tonight.“

“You are welcome.“

For a moment, I watched Julie until she entered her house next door. Then I went into my home and locked the door behind me.

Shortly, I realized the lights were on, and there was a sound of music coming from their bedroom.

Not sparing myself a second to waste, I ran upstairs, opened our bedroom door, and entered it, leaving it close behind me.

When my gaze rested on the bed, I noticed female clothes folded on the sheet and shoes by the side of the bed with a Chanel "Diamond Forever" handbag on the table.

"Jennie!" Was the only name that came to my thought, and I sped into the bathroom, freezing in my steps.

There she was, laying in the tub covered in bubbles and wearing her shower cap.

"You hate getting your hair wet," I whispered, still in disbelief that she actually kept her promise this time.

“Do you need an invitation to get in?” Jennie mumbled, looking to her right, directly into my eyes with tears in hers.

"Never, you do not have to tell me twice."

“Then hurry up.“

Hurriedly, I took off my shirt and trousers, tossing them onto the ground, and I headed towards the shower, stripping down until I was naked without breaking eye contact with her.

Then I walked over to the tub, and she suddenly sat up, drawing her knee against her breast, smiling as I got in the tub with her.

It took eleven months for this moment to finally happen, and it felt worth the wait as I stared without blinking at the softness on her skin glowing in the candle's light.

Stroking Jennie's hair away from her face, she smiled at my touch when it brushed the nape of her neck, and our eyes meet, causing me to hold my breath.

“You stench with alcohol.“ Jennie whispered, her lips

drawing closer to mine.

"Steven and I went to a party and had a few drinks,”  I mumbled, feeling the heat from her breath against my mouth.

As she got closer, I felt her soft skin on mine, and her legs parted open for me.

Hugging onto my neck,  a soft moan escaped her throat as my hands grabbed her hips, and I thrust into her.

A sudden hitch-pitched gasp from her made me look her in the eyes, frowning, and I saw something like shock in her eyes.

"I am sorry, babe. I can not do this right now." Jennie said as she withdrew from my arms and left the tub.

For quite a while, I was bewildered and had to pause for a few minutes before gathering my thoughts.

Finally, I pulled myself out of my head, left the bathroom, and entered the room, swiftly stopping myself from saying everything I had in mind.

“What's going on?“ I finally asked, knowing something has changed in her sexual habits.

"Nothing,” Jennie said without looking at me.

“Pick up some new tricks that I don't know about?“

“Jackson!“

“What?!“

Scowling at me, she rolled her eyes and let out a bit harshly, “I am tired. I just came from an hour flight and you weren't even home when I got here and was out drinking with…”

“Don't go off the subject or gaslight me! Now, what was that?“ I uttered, striving not to raise my voice.

“What was what?!“

“That sound.“

“I moan. What's the problem?"

“The problem is, never in the fourteen years we have been together had you made such a sound when we were having sex.“

“What are you saying?“

Holding back my words, I headed over to the closet, got dressed, and headed to the bed, laying on my side of the mattress.

“Jackson,” Jennie mumbled, and I could feel her eyes on me.

But I refused to turn around to look at her and let out, “Not tonight. We can talk when you are ready, to be honest.“
