Chapter Five

This is in Wunmi’s pov

"Good morning sir." I said as Mr Tayo walked into the office. I got to the office earlier today as there was no traffic congestion on this Thursday morning.

"Good morning Wunmi, how are you?"

"I'm fine." I gave a small smile.

"Okay, meet me in my office when you're through." He smiled and walked into his office.

*What's up? What’s happening when I’m through*? I thought to myself. Then I remembered the day was Thursday. I didn't notice because there was no environmental sanitation this morning. I finished what I was doing and walked to the door. I knocked and waited till he asked me to come inside.

He was taking his coffee just like every morning. His shirt was well pressed like every

time except that this time, he folded the arms of the shirt and I saw a tattoo drawn on his hand, revealing a bit.

"*I'll draw a tattoo one day, I'll even write your name*." I remembered Tayo's words. It was during one of our common discussion. We were talking about tattoos that day. I stared at Mr Tayo.

*Why do they have so much in common, could they be the same person? Should I ask him if he is the one?*, I thought to myself.

"You know you can always take a picture." Mr Tayo said jolting me out of my thoughts.

I closed my eyes for a second and opened it back. "You said I should come when I'm through, so I'm here."

"Yeah, today's the day for the presentation to Honey computers. I’ll be doing the presentation, I just want to ask about the time and if you’ve made the details."

I nodded "Yes. The meeting has been called since yesterday. It would be starting by 12pm today."

"Uncle Kayode said you and I should go. He said it would help you to know how our meetings and presentation." He looked at the watch in his wrist. “We should be leaving now, the traffic on the Third Mainland bridge will be much now.”

My heart skipped a beat for once.

*I'll be with him today, for the whole day? Wait we're going to work so stop thinking nonsense, it’s not like anything was going to happen*. I thought to myself.

"Okay sir. I'll go prepare and I'll call the driver to get ready." I said and I got ready to go out of the office.

"No," he shook his head. "We're taking my car, so no need to call him."

"Okay." I turned and left the office.

*Time skips*

We've left the office for more than three hours now and we’ve just crossed the bridge. It's almost 11:30pm and we are stuck in another traffic in Lagos Island

"Mr Tayo," I called and he looked at me briefly, then he concentrated on the road. "What do you think we should do? It's almost 11:30 and we shouldn't be late, the meeting should be starting soon."

He looked at me and raised his brow. "Do you think I want us to be late?"

*I didn’t mean it that way… Na me fuck up.*

"No." I shook my head, frowning slightly at his answer. "I just thought, why don't we find a parking area, we'll park and walk to the company. It's kind of a fifteen minutes walk from this place as my map says." I looked at my phone, to confirm if I was right.

Mr Tayo smiled at me. "You're right, why haven’t I thought of that?"

He reversed a bit after honking then turned to the other lane to find a nearby parking lot. We paid for the space and took our important belongings from the car.

We walked to the company and in less than ten minutes I was already tired. I had to place a fake look on my face to hide my tiredness.

*Who asked me to bring this stupid idea?*

I heard Mr Tayo chuckle as we walked into the company. "What happened sir?"

"You brought the idea of walking and you're the one getting tired already." he replied.

I frowned at him. "I'm not tired."

He collected the bags from me. "Let me help you with that, don't die before we get there." He laughed.

I gave a small laugh and mouthed a thank you.

Not long after, we got to the company, rested for a while before the meeting started. I joined in the meeting but didn't do much except to help Mr Tayo.

The meeting and presentation was done and everyone went out of the board room including Mr Tayo who went to talk to one of his friends. I waited in the board room while I reminisced on what happened as we left the office.

I and Mr Tayo walked out and got to the reception. Natasha who frowned at me the other day, jumped up and hugged Mr Tayo. I could swear I was a bit hurt as he hugged her back but I shook it off, it's just a hug and

it's not like we're dating or something.

*It’s not like actually care if they are dating, he’s just my new boss*. I reminded myself.

*He might also be Tayo, and that would hurt you more than a bit*, My subconscious said to me.

I've noticed all these past few days that Natasha always flirts with Mr Tayo but it's not my problem as I keep telling myself except if I start liking my boss and that would be worst thing that would ever happen to me.

"Wunmi." Mr Tayo called.

I jolted out of my thoughts and stood up abruptly.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concern laced in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied and gave him a smile. This could have been the perfect time to ask him if he was the Tayo I knew before. But I couldn’t bring myself to ask, "Let's go." I finally say.

He took his bag while I took my then we walked outside. I noticed his car was already outside. "When did you bring it?"

"When you were still inside, I asked a friend to take me there. I didn't want you to faint before we get back to the car. Lazy girl." he laughed.

"Let's go eat before going back." The Lazy girl word he said reminded me of Tayo.

*What was that? Is Tayo really coming back or I’m losing my mind.*
