Stressed Out Lawyer

The moment I’m about to turn away from the front door, throwing my keys onto the table, I notice a flat white tip of what seems to be an envelope sticking out from underneath. I pause, my eyebrows furrowed as I slowly bent my knees until I could grab it from the floor.

“from someone who sees you”

My first thought wasn’t to open the envelope – instead, it was to open the door, hoping that I would’ve seen who left this here. The hallway was mostly empty, except for a single man waiting near the elevator.

“Hey!”

He turns around as I call, his eyes widening. I step out into the hall, walking closer to him, and his features become much more present with every step. He was a beautiful man, there’s no denying that. Pretty gold eyes that resumed honey glowing in the sun, a spray of freckles that covered his nose, hair that gently grazed his forehead.

I was curious . . . was he the one who left this?

I raise the envelope and stared at him with an eyebrow raised.

“Did you leave this at my door?
