So Depressed Elise

“Be careful.”

My eyes popped open and I sat up urgently in bed. At the foot of my bed was only my cat, wrapped up in a cozy ball. I sighed. It was just a dream.

A dream I had of my English professor.

Three days ago

Everyone in the coffee shop stared at me. I had dropped both of my textbooks. I cursed silently and bent down to pick them up. However, someone already beat me to it. I recognized the sleeve of his khaki jacket. I looked up and saw Professor Hastings. He gathered up all of my books, stacking them neatly upon each other. We stood up at the same time.

“Be careful,” he said. “Don’t want to do that with your coffee.”

“I’m just clumsy,” I commented, blushing. He handed over my books with a smirk that made me instantly smile back. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do that.”

“Ah, no problem. Are you okay?”

He must have noticed my tearful eyes and red cheeks. I didn’t know how to answer, so I looked down at my hands gripping the textbooks as if my life depended on them.

in Britain 5th November is Guy Fawkes day, we have a day where we celebrate someone trying to blow up the Houses of Parliament with bonfires and fireworks. It's a National holiday here, I live in Scotland.
