Chapter Seven

Gwyneth's POV

After a couple of few minutes waiting here in the queue, finally the chicken noodle soup I ordered for Zaina arrived. She complained about her having severe headache and body ache because of the party yesterday night, so I decided to buy it for her so that somehow she would feel a little better.

"Thank you." I smiled to the counter attendant.

I picked up the tray that contains the soup and carefully walk back to our table.

"Gosh! I just want to sleep and not get into the next subject." I heard Zaina muttered as she bent down and proceed to bang her head on the table for several times.

She's going crazy.

We are here in the cafeteria for an hour break. I laid the tray on the table and placed the soup in front of Zaina. "Here's your soup, 'Madame'." I said, emphasizing the word "madame".

She stopped from what she was doing and then finally got up from her seat. "What's this?"

"Soup, obviously. What else do you think it is?"

"I know! What I mean is, what is this for? Why did you buy me food? Do I look sick to you?" She asked and took the spoon.

I sat in the chair in front of her, raising my brow as a cue of complete annoyance. "Atleast somehow it will relieve your hangover. But if you don't want to eat that thing, it's fine, I'm not forcing you to." I said in an exasperated tone because she suddenly dug in without even thanking me. How nice of her. Tch.

I whipped my gaze to the entrance of the cafeteria. There I saw a familiar man who's busy wandering his eyes around for an empty table. When he caught me looking at him, he smiled and waved at me before taking strides towards our direction.

He's gonna ruin my day again, for sure.

"Hi baby." Kalex greeted me as soon as he got himself in our table and without any distance of hesitancy, he kissed me on my bloody cheek! "Soup for hangover?" He turned to face Zaina when he saw her busy devouring the soup.

My friend nodded quickly and even smiled at him. "Gwyn bought this for me."

"Where's mine?" He playfully glared at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Where's my soup? You bought soup for her, then how come you didn't even buy one for me?" he growled. Annoyance was pretty obvious when he sat down next to me.

Is he out of his dull mind? Tsk

"Who told you to drink every liquor you could take hold last night and got wasted? I didn't push you to get drunk, did I?" I raised an eyebrow in disbelief.

"I'm your boyfriend and she's just your friend. Why does it seems like you are more concerned about her than me?" He seems frustrated, pouting like a brat.

He's really gone insane. Tch.

"Fine! Since I received the payment as your contract girlfriend, what do you want to eat?" I asked him calmly and I could clearly see the rapid changes in his expression.

"I want something like—"

"Wait, do you really have a hangover?" I wondered and couldn't help but raise my left eyebrow at him.

In his current state, he doesn't look like a man having a hangover.

"Of course! I have sort of headache and I have this bad feeling that I'm gonna have fever later this day." He pretended to sound weak and even take my hand and placed it on his forehead tryna prove his lies.

"Stop playing dumb on me Kalex." I annoyingly said and pushed his forehead away.

"Don't you have any sweetness in your body? Can't you just act like my real girlfriend?" he creased his forehead.

My expression went poker-faced when I heard what he said. I don't know why, but of all my clients, he is the only one I really loathe, swear.

"What's up, guys?"

We both looked up when someone suddenly showed up and was now standing in front of us.

Zaina stopped eating for a while and greeted him happily. "Hi Denver! Thanks for last night, I really enjoyed it a lot."

"'Till next time." Denver replied and wink at my friend.

I'm a bit confused because of their gooey eyes. It seems like they're up to something. Are they pertaining to—shit!

"What?" Zaina's eyes widened as I looked at her meaningfully. "We are referring to the party last night, don't be green minded, Gwyn." she clarified things out.

I breathed a sigh of relief. I am not meddling on my friend's life, but I'm just worried about her so as much as possible, I do not want her to be deluded by the things she would regret later on.

"Have you eaten already?" Denver turned his gaze on me.

Okay, I almost forgot what we talked about last night not until now. I was a little skeptical of how he was acting towards me. I wanted to reject him so bad, but I'm afraid he might get the wrong idea and think that my standard is too high for a man. And if ever I do that, I'm probably the first woman who rejected him.

"N-Not yet." I awkwardly replied.

"Good. Let me accompany you then." He said as if everything was settled.

I guess it's not a good idea to be with him. I still feel a bit awkward and I don't want to feel this way.

"Ahem!" the person next to me cleared his throat like their's no tomorrow just to divert Denver's attention.

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were there, bro." Denver uttered a quick remark.

"I'm her boyfriend dude, so she's gonna eat with me." Kalex insisted, wrapping his arms around me all of a sudden.

"I am courting Gwyneth. Incase you're not aware."

"What?" Kalex got a horrified look now. He twisted his chair and face me, frowning."Gwyn! What is this dude tryna say?"

"Huh?" I innocently mumbled.

"He's courting you. Is that true?"

I do not know what to say to him. I guess it's not a good idea to tell him what happened to us last night. Not now when he's in a verge of snapping someones neck.

"Why? What's wrong with that?" Denver groaned.

"She's my girlfriend, dude."

"She's your contract girlfriend to be exact." Denver corrected him."Besides, after a month, your contract will come to an end. What's wrong if I flirt with her now? Unless you really like Gwyneth and you don't want to end your contract with her." He smirked then meaningfully scrutinize Kalex.

I turned my gaze to Kalex and waited to hear his reply. "We are still on our contract, so f*ck off and don't flirt with my girlfriend." He stated. "Come with me and help me buy our lunch." He stood up and held my hand so I was forced to stand up and follow him.

When we were a bit far from our table, I suddenly felt him grab my waist and pulled me closer to him. "I don't want you to get too close to him while I'm not by your side. Understood?" he said in a whispered tone but I felt the seriousness in his voice.

"Wait—"

"Understood?" he repeated.

"Fine!" I just agreed even though I couldn't understand what he was acting towards me.

His fiery aura might burn me black in no time.

Is he really mad? At Denver? But they're good friends.
