1. It shouldn't hurt so much but...

“You know,  you're still the most ugliest piece of thing I've seen in my life.”

It's okay. It shouldn't have hurt so much but why did it? Countless mornings since the third grade and she still wasn't used to the comments,  the jabs, the insults. Why couldn't they just have accepted her?

Pidgeon gray lockers staked closely beside each other with various students all dressed in casuals,  leaned over lockers observing the pair intently.

Typical of them not to help her. All they did was watch from the sidelines cheering him on. Him. The golden-haired male who had only added to her nightmares every single night. His creaky voice which cracked ever so slightly in the brink if teenagehood.

A smile which entranced half the female population of the school stretched over his soft features when she didn't give him a reply.

“All that fat better come off with junior year. I can't go through any additional years with a monstrosity like you.”

Her light maroon eyes filled up slowly at his remark and her bottom lip trembled. She wrung the corner of the extra large shirt which clung tightly to her frame.

Maybe he was right. Maybe she really was an ugly piece of thing not worthy of his sight. Maybe she didn't have a purpose on earth but she refused to give him the satisfaction of her precious tears so she did the only thing she knew how to.

She ran as a bolterous laugh exploded from the mouth of her perpetrator. Laugh all you want Sean, I'll be back for you. Were her thoughts with the slight squeaking of her scuffed, dirty sneakers against the floor with her heavy steps filling her ears.

She had never imagined the last day of junior high would go so well. Excluding the normal Sean attitude,  she had succeeded in securing a safe seat on the burnt orange coloured rectangular bus with two huge stripes by each side and by the window at that! No matter how much her knees throbbed from her earlier stunt,  it was all worth it.

Her maroon eyes which complimented her dark mocha skin glowed with her little happiness. Finally,  the holidays were here and she couldn't contain the pure glee that overcame her young mind but that joy, along with many other things in her life, didn't last for long.

After barely managing to hop off the bus,  she tip toed her ways up the stairs of her front porch. The faded evening glow did nothing but made her conscious of the shadows that played along with her movements.

She wondered why she even bothered trying when one of the stairs let out a deep loud creek beneath her weight. She couldn't blame the poor thing because countless feet had also stomped down these same set of stairs and into the night.

She wiped away the moisture which had gathered at her palms on the large pair of denim jeans on her lower half.

She let out a breath of relief when she found the woman who had supposedly gave her the breath of life passed out in the dainty couch which was the only other furniture apart from the center stool and boxed television which decorated the living room.

Quickly before she awaked and started demanding dinner, Adana's barely rounded form scurried into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Making sure she didn't leave anything out,  she made her way upstairs and into her room.

All that fat better come off with junior year.

She wasn't certain on how she would accomplish that task but she knew she had had just enough of Sean and his crone's remarks and comments concerning her size. What best way to give them the shock of their lives than to get the revenge body?

The corners of her slightly peachy lips curled into a small smile, the first time in months she had managed the gesture, as her heavy lids shut over her eyes.

Yes, this wasn't going to be an easy task for her…
