The tumbledown condition of the maid's room was preserved as it is by the application of glass frames on it, clearly protecting it from the reach of visitors. 

The room was a small one, having a chair in the corner, which was also surrounded by a glass frame. The chair was weary one, eaten away by moths at places, broken at one of the handles. That was the only chair there, indicating the unavailability of it for the maids over there.

It had a brief description of its presence over there by the side.
