Something special with the air

"Mr Aiden Williams, why did you suddenly think of selling your own business leaving your dead sister's one?" One of the reporters asked Aiden.

"I dare you to utter the word dead for my sister again! And yes, I decided to sell the Williams corporation. I already lost my sister and I won't be able to see the hard work of my sister get destroyed because of my incapability." He answered deadly without a smile.

"And you will be able to see your father's hard work getting destroyed?" Another rude reporter asked.

Aiden shut his eyes for a second to get a grip on himself. Then he opened his eyes and looked at his parents who were sitting in the front row. They blinked their eyes assuring him to convey the message that they were with him in every situation. He nodded his head at them and prepared his answer.

Today is the day when Aiden is going to sell his company in an auction. He already knew that no one can stop this from happening because his father already said that he won't be joining back to business as he was heartbroken after his daughter's demise.

If none of the board members suddenly decide to support him and help him to raise his business again then Aiden is going to lose his business forever.

"It was a mutual decision, decided by all the respective board members. My parents are equally supporting my decision of keeping my sister's company. I already made my statement clear enough. I won't like to comment further on this topic." Adrian stated strictly.

"Do you know who joined this party as a bidder?" Another reporter asked.

Aiden's eyes automatically landed on one particular guy who was standing in a corner of the ballroom and was associating with other important businessmen. But Aiden could say his full concentration was at the conference meet. He was listening to every single word that Aiden uttered.

"Yeah, I know. A lot of famous, successful and respectful businessmen." Aiden answered the reporter tactfully.

"Let me ask you more specifically. What are your thoughts on Aaron Knight, your late sister's husband's presence on the bidding day of your company out of any other days?" The same reporter asked again with a smirk.

Aiden again looked at Aaron Knight, his sister's so called husband', who was also looking back at him with a blank face.

Aiden never liked this guy since the start. His dislike for Aaron increased to another level when he got to know Aaron forced his sister into a contract marriage. If it was possible he would have buried him alive the moment he got to know about his sister's forceful contract marriage but it was his sister who stopped him from doing so.

His dear sister, Athaliah Williams. She was as special as her name. Unique, beautiful, bold and refreshing. She was something different. He had faced a really hard time keeping boys away from her since their childhood.

But he failed to protect her from Aaron Knight, who destroyed her sister slowly and skilfully and he couldn't do anything about it.

He balled his fist, turned his eyes away from Aaron and looked back at the reporters with a fake smile.

"I guess, thoughts are not for share but to keep within." Aiden replied with a smirk and winked at the reporters as if he was cool with everything happening around him.

Everyone laughed out loud at his joke. Everyone was occupied in the joke cracked by Aiden which was also pure sarcasm, that's why no one noticed when someone from a corner gave two bundles of cash to two reporters. The person was hiding in the dark.

Those two reporters showed their gratitude toward that person and walked back to the stage where Aiden was.

"Mr Aiden Williams, do you know that Aaron Knight showed great interest in buying your company?" One of the reporters asked.

Aiden frowned at him and looked at his manager and parents. They were equally stunned by the question. He was about to reply but another one attacked him with another question.

"As we all know Aaron Knight always settles his scores, so do you think he planned to take revenge through this because of what your sister did with him and how you accused him of your sister's death?" The second reporter asked from the crowd.

Aiden was losing his patience slowly. He turned around to glare at Aaron Knight who was looking at him in confusion.

Yes, Aiden already knew about Aaron's interest in buying the Williams corporation. After all, he announced his interest in front of the national television just within two hours of his declaration on selling the company. At that time Aiden was so sure that his decision on selling the Williams corporation instead of his sister's company wasn't wrong at all. Because he also thinks that Aaron Knight is planning to misuse his company and if it was his sister's company then he would destroy it.

How much he wanted to change his current situation! If he could, he wouldn't have decide to sell any of his companies. But he was so drowned in the loss of his sister that he destroyed everything with his own hands. He had become reckless and he wasn't concentrating on anything. The companies kept falling down and down. They started to lose their clients. They started to lose their customers, workers and even board members also decided to stop investing in his company.

But now, he has learnt his lesson. He has learnt it the hard way. Now he was determined to get back into the track. For the sake of his parents, for the sake of his sister. He is determined to earn everything he lost and everything he is going to lose today.

"Okay, ladies and gentlemen, that will be all for now. We would like to proceed with the main procedure now. Thank you." Aiden's manager announced on his behalf and stopped the interview there.

He walked down the stage and walked toward the table where his parents were.

"Are you okay, baby?" Aiden's mother, Sophia Williams asked worriedly as soon as he took his seat beside her.

"Yes, mom." He replied with a sigh.

"I am sorry, Dad. I wasn't capable enough to handle your company. I failed you. I am sorry." Aiden apologized to his father, Steven Williams, guiltily.

Steven patted on his shoulder reassuringly and smiled at him.

"You did great there. I am proud of you." Steven told his son.

Aiden smiled at his father painfully and hugged him. He wanted to break down like a baby in the embrace of his father. That's how his parents were. Always really supportive of their children's every decision.

"Mom, Dad, do you think I will be able to achieve it all again?" He asked hopefully with tears glittering in his eyes.

"Look at this silly boy behaving like that three years old Aiden again, who asked his parents if he would be able to take care of his little sister when he first held her in his arms." Sophia smiled a little at the memory.

She dropped her smile the moment she realised what she said. She looked at her husband and son with teary eyes. She regretted mentioning her daughter the moment Aiden uttered his next words.

"I even failed in protecting her." Aiden mumbled in a low voice.

When he noticed the hurt expression of his parents, he instantly thought to change the subject. He took deep breaths. That's when he noticed the odd. He looked around then looked back at his parents.

"Where is Elena?" He asked with a frown.

"Oh, we don't know. She was here just a moment before you arrived but suddenly she got a call from someone and she hurriedly got up to receive it. She said it was a really important call. But she said she will be back soon." Sophia replied with a smile.

Aiden nodded his head and looked ahead of him.

The auction will start anytime now. They were just waiting for their company lawyer to arrive who was stuck in the traffic of New York City.

"Hello, Mr Aiden!" Someone called him from behind.

They turned around to see it was Mr Roy, their lawyer who was also managing every law-related thing of today's auction.

"Oh, Mr Roy, you arrived." Aiden stated formally and forwarded his hand for a handshake.

"At last! Well, you can't predict the traffic in New York." Mr Roy laughed and shook Aiden's hand.

"So true." Aiden agreed with a smile.

"So Mr Aiden, are you sure you want to sell it? We can still start over by taking a loan. Or you can sell Late Miss Athaliah's company instead. That won't be a much loss as that company has already lost all the previous clients, partners and customers." Mr Roy tried for the last time to make Aiden understand.

But Aiden was firm in his decision.

"No, Mr Roy. I won't sell Athaliah's company. And don't worry about the loss. No loss can put up with the loss I and my family will face if we sell her company. It will be like we lose her once again and this time forever." Aiden said firmly leaving no space for argument.

"Very well then. Just remember I will always be there to support you with any kind of help I can offer." Roy said with a smile.

"We know and thank you for that." Aiden smiled at him with gratitude.

Even Steven and Sophia thanked him for all the things that he had done for them.

Mr Roy is the family lawyer of the Williams. Not only him but also his father had served the family before Roy took up. He is a trusted person of Williams. He is just like a family member to them.

"Okay, so I will go and prepare for the auction but I still wish I could do something to save the company." Roy said with a sad smile and walked ahead.

"Now only a miracle can save the company, Roy and the miracle stopped happening in our life years ago." Aiden whispered at himself with a sad smile.

Steven patted his shoulder.

"Well, don't presume everything beforehand. After all, it won't be a miracle if it happens according to your presumption, right?" Elena said with a bright smile, coming out of nowhere.

"Oh! Elena! You startled me." Sophia exclaimed in surprise.

"So sorry Sophia. That wasn't my intention at all." Elena apologized sweetly with a sweet smile. Sophia accepted her apologies with a sweet smile and a small nod.

"What's up with all this happy smile and bubbly attitude? I am selling my company, not buying another one, if you forgot." Aiden joked and ruffled Elena's hair.

Elena slapped his hand away and started to pat her hair back to place. Steven and Sophia already left to meet some people, leaving them alone there.

"I know smarty! I was just being.. happy for you?" Elena said which sounded more like a question.

"Happy for me?" Aiden asked while raising one of his eyebrows.

Elena nodded her head hurriedly.

"Why? Because I am losing my company?" Aiden asked sarcastically.

Elena again nodded her head.

"What?!" Aiden asked with a frown.

That's when Elena realized her mistake and started to shake her head negatively.

"No, no, no, no, no! That's not what I mean! Trust me! What I meant is I am happy that.. that you are back with a bang to rock!" Elena immediately corrected herself with a nervous smile.

"Ah, I get it that you are too shocked that I am losing my company but that's okay I will help you recover from it. I will make an appointment with the best phycologist for you. If you want we can go right after we are done here." Aiden joked with a serious face.

It took a minute for Elena to get the joke. When she got it, she glared at Aiden and was going to leave the place when Aiden stopped her by holding her right upper hand.

"If you want, we can still go right after we are done here but..  to a date?" Aiden whispered to her ear making her blush to red immediately.

"You are too cute when you blush like this." Aiden chuckled at Elena's antics.

"And you are really handsome when you smile like this." Elena said with a soft smile.

"Hm, I don't know, there's something special with the air this evening. It's giving me a soothing feeling. Like finally it's all going to be okay. Like we will be happy again." Aiden said with a smile while hugging Elena close to his heart.

They had been in a nameless relationship from their college days but they never made it official. But it seems like it was time to make it official, Aiden thought.

They both walked toward where Aiden's parents were, to join them but they didn't notice someone hearing their talks and couldn't agree more.

"Indeed there is something special with the air today." Aaron said to himself with an unsettling feeling inside his heart which he couldn't describe.
