Admission

Noise.

Maybe that was one thing that filled the house whenever Brad came home. The boy never stayed quiet. He was always poking at someone. Since his mom had learnt how to ignore him, he had fun teasing his sister and countering his father's teases.

Currently, it was breakfast time.

Bliss and Brad sat opposite each other with Bliss sitting closer to her mom away from the prying hands of her dad who thought it was fun to tickle people in the morning. Her parents sat one at each end of the table.

The two males in the room had never understood the meaning of the words Staying silent at dinner tables as the both of them always used their dinner tables as their court rooms.

Once, out of annoyance, her mom had suddenly began adding extra pepper to both their plates to choke them but they came up with the idea of bringing chilled water to the table. The pepper hadn't been able to stop them even after being painfully choked several times and she had stopped to avoid hurting them.

Now, Bradley and his father were discussing the probability of the existence of other intelligent life forms somewhere within the universe.

Brad had just finished reading an as article on the bayesian analysis of life and was confirmed that they could be other life forms. However his father had felt that the Bayasian theory could only be possible if life was indeed a product of evolution and that even if life was evolved despite the odds, the probability of there being extraterrestrial life forms were quite low.

" Dad think of it, life might have been really created and there could still be extraterrestrial life forms. Like, in the universe there are millions of stars in our galaxy but there are also millions of galaxies in the universe, do you think that all the galaxies were just created to be a balance to our own very tiny milky way galaxy?"

Brad tapped his hands on the table in front of him.

"I'm not saying that there actually are extraterrestrial life forms, but there is indeed the probability that there is life on other galaxies. Maybe, God simply doesn't want us to contact them. Maybe they also have there own purpose for existence. Maybe, that answer is one we humans will only get to know in his kingdom or maybe we just never do not need to know"

"The origin of life will probably remain the most controversial question of all time alongside the which came first questions. Besides, the existence of life forms outside of earth are not exactly questions we should be concerning ourselves with. So Bradley, let's call a truce here"

Bliss had long finished eating and was listening to them argue. Even though she was hearing a lot of words for the first time it did not dampen her entusiasm. Her brother and dad had always done stuff like this and she would always listen forming her own opinion on the things she heard.

Her mom on the other hand was surfing her phone. She didn't have work so she was quite free. Soon a headline caught her eyes.

"The National Examinations Council has release the results of candidates who took the National Common Entrance Examinations"

She instantly logged into the website provided for checking results and checked Bliss results.

Under the interface the results were

Mathematics- 38

English -48

Verbal reasoning - 50

Quantitative - 42

Total -178

Qualified for selection

She smiled

"Bliss, do take a look?"

Bliss looked up and took the phone from her mom, her eyes widening the moment she saw the words on the screen.

"Yeeeeessssss" she screamed and jumped down from the table, the two debating already forgotten.

"What's wrong with her?"

Mrs Vera simply passed the phone across to them.

Bliss kept jumping around the house happily until her mom called her to eat out for lunch.

They headed to crunchies fast food where they'd gotten a cake and other snacks before going home.

Two days later, her mom had gone to the school to collect the original copy of the provisional offer of admission as well as to pay the acceptance fee. After doing that, she'd collected the school's prospectus before returning home.

That week was probably one of the busiest Bliss had ever had.

After her mom had collected the prospectus, her dad had insisted she read it cover to cover to ensure they do not buy anything which is contraband in the school. They'd gone to market to buy the things the school had required her to get.

When they'd gone to the line where those who sold boxes, Bliss had been allowed to choose.

Brad, who'd come along with them to be porter, had suggested her getting the rubber ones with no zips which he insisted had more security and so Bliss had picked a sky blue plastic box which looked quite beautiful with it's jet black tires. Soon, they'd headed to the shoes section to get a pair of black cortina shoes which was part of their uniform as well as a pair of bathroom slippers for hostel use and fancy slippers for classes.

In the furniture area, they'd gotten the standard student foam covered in a blue foam cover.

In the provisions sections, Bliss had wanted to pick virtually everything she'd set her eyes on, chocolates, beverages, assorted drinks, juices, fries, dried fruits, biscuits, cereals, sausages, candies and what have you.

At the end Brad had chosen what she needed for her and her mom had added a few wants after which her mom had promised to bring some for her visiting days which made Brad scoff.

After buying everything they'd needed, they'd returned home.

Soon, Bliss was packing her stuff to return to school. She could now go back to school and have fun and eat her provisions. Maybe make a few friends.

( Your dear author shrugs and wonders who goes to school to do the afore mentioned. 'Miss Bliss, are you sure that's school you are headed off for or are you joking with us. Your readers want to know')

Maybe, if Brad had heard those words, he'd had sat her down to give her a proper orientation before she headed off into the unknown world of her college. But alas, local man knew not.

And so, the long awaited resumption day crept up on them.

And on this very clear day, Bliss was to take the first step of her journey through the institution supposed to mold her into the person she is supposed to grow into.
