The Altundral Princess

Chapter five

 Beven's point of view

We slowly and painstakingly make our way up the precautions slope. My shoulder burns and my arm aches as I try to keep Deliah in place, we're in a dangerous situation, although I would never tell Deliah that. I'm trying my best to remain calm, but I've got to admit I'm a little anxious myself.

I can't hear the voices anymore. But I'm still grateful for the scattering of trees offering us cover.

Spirt keeps going like a champion.

We reach the top of the mountain. I stop spirit so I can check behind us thankfully there is no sign of anyone. Hopefully, we've managed to give them the slip.

Delilah,l turns to me. Making me groan with the pain, she cries out

"Oh my God Beven, you're injured. Let me take a look at it."

I reply,

"No, I can't stop until your safe, I need to get you to the Palace."

I have no idea who was after us. Or how far behind us they are. I can't afford to stop. I need to get Deliah off this mountain and the going down is the most dangerous part.

Delilah pouts as she says,

"But."

I cut her off as I say,

"No baby as soon as I know we're safe. You can look."

She turns away from me with her pouty lip, Mumbling.

"Okay."

We start to make our way down I lean back, pulling Deliah into me, trying to make it a little easier for spirit. He struggles on the uneven ground.

I tighten my grip on Deliah, holding her firmly in place.

My shoulder and my arm protest as the pain burns through me.

When we finally reach the bottom. I shout at spirit; he runs faster than he's ever run before as we head back to the safety of the Palace.

I don't know how much blood I've lost; I can feel the sweat falling from my head.

My arm aches, trying to hold on to Deliah. I feel myself losing strength as my grip becomes weaker.

 "Beven, Are you okay?"

I can hear Deliah; I can't answer, I need all my strength to keep us both from falling.

Princess Deliah Blue's point of view

I can feel Beven losing his strength as his arms become weaker around me. I shout behind me.

"Beven are you okay?"

He doesn't answer. His head rests on my shoulder.

I can see the Palace in the distance. Please god, let Beven be okay.

Spirit flies towards the palace. Almost as though he can sense something is wrong.

As we're nearing the Palace, I begin to shout as loud as I can.

"Help......... Someone, please help..........."

One of the Palace staff warns my father. I see him come running out, looking towards us concern written on his face.

"Father."

I call out as Spirit comes to a stop where my father stands.

"Delilah, Are you okay?" He asks,

The tears fall down my face as Deven falls from the back of the horse. My father runs to help break his fall. I look down at my shoulder I'm covered in blood. Beven's blood.

"Whats happened?"

My father asks as Davin comes running over to help my father with Beven, Derriel comes to my side. He pulls me to him.

"Are you okay? Your bleeding?"

"It's Beven's blood."

I manage to shout out in between sobs, pushing myself from Derriels arms as I say,

"Let me go I need to help him. Let me go Derriel."

I fight to free myself from Derriel's grip. Pushing him away.

My fathers call out to me,

"Your powers are not that strong, Deliah."

The tears stream down my face as I say,

"No, no father. I have to try. Let me help him."

I drop to my knees on the ground beside his lifeless body, Sobbing. His face is deathly grey as his breathing gets shallower.

I push my father out of the way. I have to save him. He can't die. I won't let him die.

I feel my powers taking over as I place my hands over his wound. I hear the shocked gasps of the place staff. I push everything I have into Beven.

Draining my power and giving him life.

I can feel my energy draining away.

The world begins to spin. I don't stop. I can't stop. He can't die. I can't break the connection.

I can't live without him.

Everything begins to feel distant. I feel as though I'm floating when I hear my father call out,

"That's enough."

I feel myself being pulled away from the connection. I whimper as a pair of strong arms lift me up; my father holds me against him, as he whispers

"That's enough, baby girl. I can't lose you."

I can hear my father speaking. I don't have the energy to lift my head. As I lay my head on my father's shoulder, I hear him say.

"Derriel. Call Makkan."

" Yes father, Will she be okay?"

My father replies,

"Yes. She's used all her energy. Thank god they had the sense to come back here."

I feel my father gently picking me up off the floor as he says to my brothers,

"You two bring Beven inside."

He carries me inside the Palace.

I'm placed down on something soft I hear my mother crying as she gently strokes my face. Something is placed beside me. I almost feel a sense of relief as I feel Beven's presence beside me.

My mum whispers

"Will they be okay Halturian."

He replies,

"Yes. Look, his wound has almost healed. They need to rest."

I hear my mum crying as she asks,

"What would have happened if you didn't break the connection?"

My father sighs,

"She would have poured everything into the healing until she had nothing left to give."

"Oh god, Halturian, would she have died?"

"Yes." My father answers.

"She needs to learn to control this before it controls her."

The last thing I remember is my mother's sobs.

I'm too tired to listen anymore. It takes all my strength to move my hand to Beven's. He feels so cold. Please, god, don't let him die. I allow the darkness to take me. Feeling comfort in Bevens touch.
