Chapter 6
Alexander POV
It’s been 30 minutes since we took off from that café and we are already about to reach the pack. This is the very reason I didn’t want Lucas to drive. Whenever he’s in hurry he forgets that he needs to look out while driving but the bright side is we reach our destination much faster. It would have taken us more than an hour to reach but with his impatience we are already here and it’s only 7:10 pm. Mom would be surprised by our early arrival, I’m sure of that. After all we are known for our late appearances.
Lucas turns the car wheel in the direction of pack house when I get a whiff of blood and burnt meat. My mind shows me red flag while Lucas slams hard on the brakes and looks at me with the same alert in his eyes. We both face each other before fury crawls under my skin and so does in Lucas’s.
We both open our car doors and head in the direction of pack grounds while sniffing the scent. Lucas abruptly turns his head towards me and I am surprised to see his wolf Leo in partial control as his one eye is a darker shade of blue while the other one is still ocean blue.
“Adrian, come on, come out, we need to look at the situation.” Leo speaks with seriousness in his animalistic voice while Lucas seems to have taken a back seat.
My wolf, Adrian, responds immediately to Leo’s request and makes his presence known in my mind. “Let me out and have partial control. I and Leo will do all the sniffing and you can check up on the pack members by mind linking them.” Adrian suggests.
“No, you take partial control but I’m not distracting anyone. I feel that we should check up and let our presence unknown till we get a proper idea of what’s going on. And one more thing, Adrian, NO growling. You always seem to forget that.” I respond to my wolf and then let the mental barrier drop between us, giving him the partial control and I take a back seat like Lucas.
Just like me and Lucas, our wolves are also one of the best teams together. Even though Leo is a beta wolf, Adrian treats him like his equal. Never had we both used the Alpha tone on our best friend, even in the angriest moments but then there are times when Leo becomes incontrollable and the only way to stop him is using our command.
Leo and Adrian seem to be going in very sync and fluid motion to the pack grounds. However, something snaps as we inhale the foul odor when we near the grounds. Ferocious growls rips from my and Lucas’s chest as we recognize the filthy scent and in no time we are making a run to the grounds.
As we reach to the ground, the scene playing in front of our eyes unchains the anger we have leashed for so long. More than hundred rogue wolves are burning on the ground while some parts of the ground have ashes of already burnt wolves.
I put my metal barrier back up and take full control to make sure I don’t end up killing anyone or harming someone. I then turn towards Lucas, who is fighting hard with Leo to get back the control and take a deep breath to control my anger before speaking. “Not now, Leo. Retreat back and let Lucas and I check everything. And don’t worry, you and Adrian will get their fill of blood and flesh, I promise. Now, retreat.”
As I end my sentence, Lucas’s eyes turn back to their ocean blue color but this time with fury dripping from them instead of the usual playfulness and I am sure my eyes were no different. “Mind link, Sara. I need to know what the fuck happened?” I growl with my anger barely in check.
Lucas nods and his eyes glaze over for some moments before he looks at me with a different emotion swirling in his eyes. “She’s not responding Alex.” He informs me with fear lacing his tone.
“Fuck, dammit, Mind link David, the in charge of patrolling groups.” I continue while my mind already starts worrying about Sara.
Lucas on the other hand mind links David as his eyes glaze over but I can see his hands shaking already from anger just like me. That’s his way of channeling his emotions into something destructive and though it’s not the best way to express emotions or to deal with them, I completely understand Lucas. He has taken a lot of online therapy classes too to get better but nothing seems to work for him.
“David said he’s is around and is coming in 2 minutes with all the report. I didn’t ask any other thing since he’s coming. I’m gonna kill all those motherfuckers if anything happened to even a single member of our pack, Alex.” Lucas informs me while grinding his teeth in anger.
“You really think no one died? Look at the number of rogues and now count the warriors that Dad left for patrolling. These rouges are more than twice the number of wolves and let’s not forget there is a high chance some of them even went back.” I explained to Lucas how illogical it is to assume no one died but the fury never simmers down from Lucas’s eyes.
“See, there were only around fifty warriors and these are around one hundred- twenty or something rouges from what I could make out.” I again try to explain but it falls on deaf ears.
“We are going to kill all of them Lucas, and it doesn’t matter someone died or not. But the important thing for now is that you call and ask Dad to send all the warriors back here, the newly-accessed land could be made better later but for now a war is waiting for us and I don’t want any of the warrior to be unprepared.” I continue with conviction.
Lucas finally nods his head as his extended claws retreat. He then replies with a menacing tone. “A war it is, Alex.”
As our conversation ends, David arrives with sweat glistening on his tanned skin. He is wearing black basketball shorts with his upper body on display, a clear indicator he’s been in his wolf form before he arrived here. “Good evening, Alpha Alexander and Beta Lucas.” David stops in front of us and greets us.
“Just drop the fucking formalities David and cut to the chase and tell us what happened? And I want to hear everything that took place since this morning.” I mutter with impatience while Lucas nods at my words.
David too nods before starting the narration of day’s events. “Like every day, Janice went to wake up their trainer Sara around 10:00 am but seems like she said something out of the line because when Sara arrived on the field, she announced a duel between her and Janice. Once she won, she asked everyone to train and she herself worked out on the pack grounds and till then there was nothing unusual. The training went long and ended around 2 and after that she announced that you are coming back from your week long business trip. Luna Olivia wanted a get together to be held to announce something so she asked everyone to prepare once they are well rested.”
“What was so important that mom wanted to have a get together?” I interrupted David in mid as the event made no sense to me.
We are not informed yet, Alpha.” David replied with a clueless face.
“Okay, continue.” I said and look at Lucas who is listening with full concentration.
David clears his throat before resuming his narration. “An hour or so later that would be around 4pm, Sara came back to the field and so did everyone else for the preparations. But soon enough Sara was shouting commands stating that we are under an attack. All the patrollers were asked to take the kids and pregnant women to bunkers while she and the warriors acted as a front line to stop them. No one smelled the rouges before her so we were unprepared but as soon as the command went, everyone was taken to safety and 4 patrollers were assigned near the bunkers to look out.”
“Are you sure they were not using a scent suppressor?” I questioned David.
“They were, Alpha.” David answered but this time he met my eyes to show his own fury regarding the event.
“That means they have a fucking witch with them. Continue.” I concluded my observation while Lucas was noting everything in his memory.
“From what I got to know from the fellow warriors, the leader wanted to take Sara as a peace offering. The fight began when she denied and in midst some of the pregnant she wolves informed me that Luna Olivia is missing from the bunkers. I informed this to Sara immediately and she asked me to stand on guard in front of the bunkers. Later, we got to know Luna was left out in the children’s park and Sara brought her back to me safely but Sara was severely injured. Around half an hour later, the fight came to an end. The leader ran away with the rest of his troop. No one died from our side but some were severely injured and were taken to the infirmary and Sara instructed us to burn the bodies before she collapsed on the ground due to her own injuries.” David finished his narration with sadness coating his last words.
“WHERE IS SHE?” Lucas growled loudly before I could say anything and flashed his canines, ready to tear anyone who comes in between him and Sara.
Chapter 7Lucas POVWhen David said Sara was severely injured everything stopped for a moment, my breathing, my heartbeat, the surroundings blurred and the conversation faded in the background as I relive the god forsaken moment in the car once again in my head but this time instead of my breathing my heart beats pick up their pace.
Chapter 8Lucas POVI enter the room with Alex right behind me and look at the white walls before my eyes land on my baby sister, Sara. Even though I’m two minutes older than her, she is still a baby sister to me but the years have changed her so much and have shaped her into this strong female warrior who would sacrifice herself but won’t let anyone else die
Chapter 9Alexander POVI enter in my office and see everything as I left but more neat and organized. The mahogany desk has a stack of files on its right side and my laptop is placed in the middle with a paperweight on the left. The long book wooden book shelves on the left wall are all dusted and books are organized according to their usage. The swiveling black chair behind the desk and the other two office chairs on the opposite side are shinning black. The wall behind my swiveling chair is decorated by some landscape portraits. The glass wall opposite to the book shelves has black curtains draped while a long black couch is placed on the adjacent wall facing my desk.
chapter 10Lucas POVI retrieve my arm from Tyler’s arm and punch him straight in the face before holding both his arms and banging his head with mine. He tries to struggles to get out of my hold but nothing works for him because of my iron grip. I then tilt my head towards Alex and command David. “Take him to the dungeons and tie him up with silver chains. And he should not be able to escape from dungeons or you would be the one tied up David.”Alex shakes his head at the warning and waits for David to take Tyler out of the office. “Why would he do that? It’s illogical and suicide.” Alex voices out his dilemma once they both are out of earshot.
Chapter 11Alexander POVI watch Tyler for a brief moment before giving Adrian partial control and let the fun begin. “Cuff his hands, Leo.” I instruct Leo knowing well he’s in partial control. He walks to the table and picks up the leather handcuffs before walking towards Tyler, who steps back watching Leo. “Don’t, Tyler.” Leo commands making him freeze on his spot.He then cuffs him and brings back the little bag from the table. He looks at Tyler before unzipping the bag and long thick pointed needles greet our sight. I watch a confused Tyler looking at the needles while trying to decipher their use. I shake my head knowing well he won’t need to wait for long.
Chapter 12Alexander POVLucas and I enter inside the elevator leaving behind a bloody Tyler and wait patiently to reach back to the office but I remember the words of David and decide to look a
