Chapter 4 - Devil's entry

Haya's pov

I bit my tongue, trying to hold the tears that threatened to leave my eyes and that's when I can't hold them back. first, one small crystal bead escaped from my right eye, I can feel the warmth sliding down my cheeks and rolling off my chin, then another and another until my eyes flooded with them, coming like a rainfall.

My brother walked towards me that's when I burst out into tears because I couldn't take it any more, I sobbed into his chest clutching his jacket and he held me in silence.

The tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down my face and I felt the muscles of my chin tremble like a small child. In response my brother was rubbing my back in order to soothe me.

"Shhh.. enough baby sister.” I heard my brother whispering in my ears.

I pulled back, looking at him I told something which I always kept as a secret. “do you know that you hold a place in my heart that could be filled by no one else, there have been good times and a few fights, may because in many ways we are too much alike. I have never said it much as somehow the time or mood never seemed right or perhaps there is something in me that keeps me from saying it to your face as much as I should, but regardless I want you to know that I love you."

A single tear slid down from his eyes followed by another one and another one until soon a steady stream of tears flowed down his pale cheek, releasing the sadness and sorrow that has been held inside of him all this time and that's when he hugged me tightly.

After a while we pulled and I was still holding him by his shoulders.

"Why are you saying all these now haya that too when I am leaving.” he stated.

"It's just I wanted to let you know you mean the world to me and all the time you were the only one there to help me and I know deep down inside how much you really care about me."I  answered confused why he was asking a question like that.

He kissed my forehead and whispered "I love you too my one and only sister."

I wiped the tears and smiled back.

"Umm.. I'm really sorry for ruining your shirt.” I replied meekly.

"Is that now very important, that too my shirt.” he rolled his eyes.

"Ayaan, come here." my dad called out from a far distance.

My brother picked the crutch which was lying on the ground, helped me with it and dragged me to where dad was.

"Yes dad." Ayaan replied.

"Do you know this person.” my dad was pointing a person who was in his late fifties.

"I'm sorry uncle I don't know.” my brother replied confused.

Who is this

"Asalamu alaikum Ayaan and Haya, I’m Aabid Hussain your dad's friend, we have met twenty years ago. You both were so small at that time might be less than eight years that's the reason you'll can't remember me."He said smiling.

"Walaikum salaam.” we both replied although we didn't know who he was.

"It's been a very long time. "This time my father spoke.

"Oh yes, guess it's more than fifteen years.” Mr. Aabid answered.

"Never expected fifteen years would pass within a blink of an eye.” my father commented.

"I know right, my son and I just returned back from France.” He said.

"Very well then where's your son, I’ve seen them when they were so small.” my father inquired.

"He just met a friend, so they are just hanging around.” Mr. Aabid told while searching for his son in the crowd.

"Dad.” A blue eyed guy called out.

"Oh there he is" the man stated "Rayyan this is Mr.Ahmed,Sabina his wife and his kids Ayaan and Haya.” He pointed out.

The blue eyed guy was just staring at me and I really felt uncomfortable.

"Is she a handicap.” He asked aloud.

I chewed my inner cheeks to control myself from crying.

Before anyone could reply my dad answered casually "yes, she is."

"Uhh.. I am actually sorry on his behalf, he is just.... before Mr. Aabid could finish his sentence dad interrupted in between "It's not his mistake Aabid, it’s the reality.” with that an announcement was heard saying that the passengers of New York to board in now.

Finally my father shook his hand saying goodbyes and we departed our ways.

Ayaan hugged and kissed on my forehead  one last time before checking in. In the end I was again going to be lonely without my brother for two weeks.

I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone but it's wrong, the worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.

People who are broken inside and are alone, always know that the sun is alone too and it's still shining so it's better standing alone than being around people who don't value you.
