Chapter 10 - The underground

23 days to her birthday

Saturday

"Her highness is awake" someone said and I tried to understand where I was.

Wait, I thought and got out of the bed that I was instantly. This wasn't my room, where was I?

"Her highness, welcome home" a lady in her early twenties said and bowed her head

"Who are you and what am I doing here?"

"I am thy servant who is ready to die at your command"

"What is going on here?'

"His highness is almost here but, can I get you anything to eat before his arrival?"

"I'm not married" I corrected her "I'm not even sixteen. Where am I?" 

"At your underground palace. His highness think you're going to be safer here"

"Where are my parents and my brother?

"His highness will give you an answer when he is here"

"Who is this 'his highness' that you keep talking about?" I said frustratedly

"I am" a thick voice said and the door opened. An extremely handsome, tattooed man stepped inside the room, followed by five guys which included Liam

"Liam" I called when I saw him  and got out of the bed "Where am I?" But he didn't reply me

The five guys which included Liam came forward and bowed in front of me

"What is going on here? Why is everyone bowing down for me? Where is Jack?"

Liam looked at me sadly, he wanted to say something but he didn't

The tattooed man signaled for them to leave and motioned for me to sit on the bed

"I'm not sitting down until I know what is going on"

"When I give you an order, you do as I say" he said aggressively, his voice vibrating in my bones and I slowly sat down "I'm Alex and you're at our underground palace"

"That, I don't understand" I said slowly while trying not to vex him

"You will before the end of today" he said and touched my hair. I stylishly moved my head away from him until my hair was out of his hand.

"Where is my brother?" I asked

"Missing and your parents are dead"

"No" I screamed and got up "That isn't true. I was with them last night" I cried "What are you talking about!? What have you done to them!?" I cried as I rushed to him and started hitting him "What have you done to my parents?"

He stopped me from hitting him more by holding my hands "My parents are good people! Why will you kill them!?"

"I'm also a good person and I didn't kill your parents" he said to me

"Then, who did!?"

"Our enemy"

"We have nothing in common" I cried "I don't know you"

"We have everything in common Irene" he said and released my hands "I will be back later in the day" he added and left

Liam stepped in not long after and I rushed to him

"Liam" I called "is it true?" I asked and hoped everything was a prank

"I'm sorry" he hugged me while I cried on his shoulder

"So, it true, mom and dad are dead and Jack is missing"

"I'm sorry Irene.  I was out all night, searching everywhere for Jack but he's no where to be found"

"My poor parents!"

"I'm sorry I couldn't save them. I got there too late"

"How did they die, why and by whom?"

"By Amara Conrad's men"

"How do you know him?" I asked shockingly

"Do you know him?" He asked curiously

"Yes and no" I replied "And how do you know him?"

"Tell me yours first"

"I've been having some weird dreams recently"

"About what"

"About a Tiana, an Amara Conrad and one huge man like that"

"Adrian Sargon"

"Who is that?" I asked

"The huge man. His name was Adrian Sargon"

"I thought that monster was dead" I cried "I researched it and he was dead"

"He is a vampire and vampire can live for more than two thousand years. They can live forever

"I can't believe my parents are gone" I cried

"I'm so sorry"

" I don't know what to do now and you couldn't even find Jack"

"We're still searching for him"

"Jack is going to be very scared"

I used the whole day to moan the death of my parents and my brother's disappearance and made up my mind before going to bed that night

"Where is Liam?" I asked the girl that was inside my room the moment I woke up

"He's still out your highness"

"What about Alex?"

"In his room your highness"

"Can you take me to him?"

I walked out of the room for the first time since I've been brought here and admired it

"Her highness want to see you" the girl said as she knocked on the door of the room that was next to mine

"She can come in" Alex said

"Thank you" I said to the girl and went in

"Good morning Irene.  I'm so sorry for not showing up in your room last night, I came back late last night and that is the reason why. How are you feeling this morning?"

"Bad but I'm ready to fight this Amara Conrad"

About ten thousand people including I,  Alex,  Liam and Darcy were seated in a very large hall. My seat and that of Alex was placed on the podium and I walked to my seat while Alex walked to the front of the podium to address  the crowd

"It's good to have you all here today" Alex said quietly and surprisingly, all of them heard "You all know the reason why we're here"

"To welcome the princess home" Darcy who was one of the people sitting in the front row said and winked at me

The fact that Darcy, Miss know it all could be anything other than a normal human being was shocking

A young lady came to the stage and kissed the back of my hand "My condolences, your highness" she whispered

"Thanks" I said as I tried not to cry

"We all know we're running out of time and thankfully, her highness have decided to start her ritual as soon as possible" the young lady said

They all clapped, some growled while some shouted

"And that is going to start with this" she said and raised a book up in the air

She handed the book to me and I read the name on it  "Sargon" I looked at Liam who was sitting on the front row and he smiled at me. That was exactly the same book that I saw with him few days ago.

"You need to know the story behind the war" she said

We were all served breakfast and I wondered where they got the money from

"Please can I say something" I said when almost everyone was through with their food

"Go ahead your highness" 

"Can you just call me by name. I'm not used to all this. My name is Irene, Irene Cage"

"If it's okay by you" some people said

"Very okay"
