Chapter 3 ~ Satin Cemetery ~

[[ IRIS'S POV]]

I stood at the doorstep patiently as my curious gaze were fixed on it like a superglue. The guards in presidential suit all had an aloof and robotic face as if we were in a prison.

I took another deep relaxation breath and wandered my eyes around to find out something and spent my leisure time so far. Suddenly the door was pushed open and I straightened up abruptly before looking up on the way.

Mr.Scott held a cold face and unreadable expression which made me shift uncomfortably in my spot.

Taking some large steps in front of me, he ordered looking through my eyes sternly,

" Go inside. Mr President is waiting for you."

I nodded affirmatively and then heard him say again softly,

" Just be yourself, Iris. I know Mr President. As long as you don't try to be over confident or pretend to be something special which you aren't, you will pass the interview. Make a good use of your sharp brain."

I gazed at his eyes deeply before nodding my head slightly and made my way inside the office.

I gave two light knocks on the door respectively and got a cold brief answer,

" Come in. "

I took another deep breath before stepping into the carpeted floor and entered swiftly. As soon as I entered, my mouth fell open in awe looking at the decoration around the room.

The whole office room was decorated so beautifully that one could take few moments to enjoy its lavishing. Even the flowers on the vase were fresh and gave off a sweet fragrance into my nostrils. For a moment, I was lost in the beauty.

Flashing away my thoughts forcefully, I looked up at the figure forward and found his aloof face expressionless. His blue eyes were locked on the computer screen as he typed on the keyboard skillfully pressing down his slender nails symmetrically.

I cleared my throat hesitantly as I stepped near introducing myself,

" Hello, Mr. President. I'm Iris Young, Mr. Scott has ordered me to come inside."

He responded briefly still tapping on the keyboard,

" Take a seat, Miss Young."

I pulled out a chair and occupied a spot obediently still facing his cold aura.Shortly after, he stopped typing on the keyboard and averted his blue eyes on my complicated face.

I recalled the earlier advices given by Mr.Scott as I gazed at him back boldly though my heart skipped a beat looking at those mystical eyes.

His expression somehow became strange a little as he asked sitting straight back and looking at my face,

" Tell me one reason, Miss Young, why should I hire you among all the talented women?"

My body stiffed a little but I quickly regained back my rationality as I replied while smiling,

" Because I'm multi talented."

His expression dropped off as his brows raised up amusingly and I continued looking at him chivalrously,

" I'm an expert on computer science, literature and programming.Except this, I have brief knowledge over business stocks and political affairs. Thus you won't have to find out different people to handover the tasks that you want to do in this criteria. You can easily handover them to me as I will always be around with you. In a word, you won't have to waste extra money over others.Buy one get unlimited free. "

He nodded his head slightly and replied resting his palms over the desk,

" Quite reasonable. I have one more last question for you. "

I nodded and said, " Sure. "

He sighed softly and asked keeping his eyes over my face as if he was trying to read my every emotions,

" If one day, you and I fall in danger together, who will you save first if you were asked to save between you and me?"

Finally my time came to waver his cold heart!

Remember this, if you are here to play with a big shot, wait for the right time to waver his heart until he finds you different.

Well, that's what I had learned from a certain person who had been doing well without me.. Probably..

I smiled lightly and replied looking through his intimidating gaze,

" Of course, myself Mr President. "

A slight frown of confusion appeared on his handsome face as if he wasn't ready to hear this unexpected answer. But I continued secretly clutching the clothes of my top over my thighs,

" At first, I'm not your bodyguard who is in charge to ensure your safety. I will be your secretary and helping hand. Undoubtedly anyone will choose her own life first unless.."

I paused a bit purposely to see his expression which was darkened and added purposely,

" you fall in love. Because only in true love, people choose their partner's life before her."

I finished my words and looked up waiting for his answer to come out. His expression turned puzzled and unreadable as he kept staring at my face blankly.

He diverted his gaze from me and got up walking near the transparent glass as he responded absentmindedly,

" You can go and report yourself to Scott. From today onwards, you are my secretary. He will give you further instructions about your work schedule."

I didn't dare to waste my time anymore thus I was already lucky enough to pass the interview. I gave a respectful bow and turned around holding my staffs. As soon as I stepped out, my anxious mind subconsciously inhaled a long sigh of relief.

I spent whole day only by understanding my works under Mr.Scott's guidance. Later he led me meet with the office staffs who all seemed like a pathetic robots to me without smiling or talking. I wondered over the fact that was it forbidden to laugh office?

After few hours, my head almost started spinning like a wheel when Mr.Scott explained me the whole thing. From my knowledge, I figured out that this handsome president owned various properties all over the state and mostly were from the expensive areas.

I wandered that what will he do with this properties? He doesn't even have a girlfriend jeez.

For the whole day, I didn't meet Mr President. for a minute thus I wasn't appointed officially. My real work would be starting from tomorrow directly from Mr President's apartment.

After an exhausted day, I reached at my own apartment around 7pm. I creaked open the door and immediately was welcomed with my baby's mechanical tone.

Mama is home.. Mama is home..

Stressed Tomato spoke out loud while dragging his steel body out of my bedroom. I chuckled in amusement slipping out from my high heels and rubbing my sore toes gently.

I hate high heels. It just gives me extra amount of pain!

I approached near the couch and my eyes went wide at the staffs hanging down from it. I lifted up the lacy bra from the couch and immediately understood who was the owner judging by it's shape.

My face turned black in anger as I scolded stressed tomato behind,

" Tomato, didn't you warn Daisy that not to take her fatty boyfriend inside my house?"

Jees! It must be Daisy who made love on the couch with her damn boyfriend. He is just a fat, round panda.. How do they get along!

In response, tomato repeated the phrase continously,

" Daisy locked tomato inside the bedroom.Daisy locked tomato inside the bedroom."

I shook my head desperately and threw those panty and bra far away from the couch. I settled down myself on the couch comfortably whereas tomato offered me a glass of water.

I rubbed my sore temple before gulp it down quickly. Later I took a fresh shower and received my ordered foods from the delivery boy.

By the time, I finished my regular activities, it was around 10pm. I started watching the tv shows and suddenly my eyes fell on my phone still chewing the chips.

My heart wrenched a little at the sudden thought of chatting with him. I tried to hold back my thoughts knowing the outcome but at the end, I took it up.

Tapping on the phone, I finally dialed the number as my breath hitched in fear. The phone ringed but no one answered.

I felt disappointed and happy at the same time for not connecting the phone call. My lips subsequently formed a bitter smile before dragging my tensed up body inside my bedroom.

I buried my head inside the fluffy pillow and soon after consumed into a sound sleep.

I didn't know how many hours that I had slept for. When I woke up from my nightmare screaming aloud like a little child, I was feeling suffocated like before.

My eyes diverted towards the curtains that were floating in the air highly. Thunder growled in the sky welcoming thousands raindrops which were occasionally passed through my half opened window.

Steadying my breathing speed, I tugged off the blanket from my body before slowly reaching near the window side.

It was another rainy day just like that night!

My vision flashed with some unpleasant memories that were buried in my heart. A teardrop fell down from the corner of my eyes when her screaming tone pierced through my memory..

Iris, Run... Run.. Iris...!! You are the bravest child, you remember!! Run..! Don't turn back, Run..!

Those noises stopped inside my head as I held back my choking hardly.

My mind wasn't in peace as I walked over the cabinet to find out my raincoat. I needed to find my inner peace and only that place could give me peace...

Peace.. that's what I had been looking for in all this years..!

Slipping inside my raincoat, I pulled up the hoodie to cover my face before heading for my discerned place.

Half an hour later, I finally reached at the Satin Cemetery ignoring the heavy rain that were pouring down on my body.

Standing away from the cemetery's main gateway, I clutched the white roses in my hand tightly before moving forward.

The cemetery had only two neon lights vaguely illuminated the whole area as my cream from the doorway made an thrilling noise in this rainy weather.

I located the certain point of the cemetery before walking forward as my boots occasionally splashed against the muddy water beneath.

Finally my heavy footsteps stopped in front of a tombstone as I fell down my hoodie to speculate it more vividly. Finally I sensed the inner peace that I was craving for.

Kneeling down, I placed those white roses in front of tomb before asking out bitterly,

" You missed me?"

Before I could say another words, I heard hasty footsteps behind my back as my eyes darkened. The constant sound of splashes against the muddy water created a danger vibe around the place as I stood up unfazed.

I didn't bother to turn around as I was already knew what was going on exactly.

Smirking slyly, I was waiting for their response but no one talked.

Were they waiting for me to initiate the conversation?

Giving up this hide and seek game, I finally turned around before gazing at them deeply.

Another series of thunder along with thunderbolts fell upon the Satin Cemetery lightening their black figures that had perfectly hidden their true features.

I smiled provocatively and asked the almighty god looking up in the sky...

Can peace never stay in my life for a single

moment?
