Three days after Jake had woken up, officer Torres was notified of his status.

He was the police officer who was assigned to Jake and Caleb's case.

The drunk driver that hit their car had fled the scene. Which made the case much harder to solve. There were two cameras that had recorded the scene, but it was far too blurry to make out the license plate.

They were able to track down the man's address and work location. He was an elderly man, who struggled with alcoholism for years. He'd given up in life, given he'd lost his wife to breast cancer five years back. His kids were grown, moved out and had gone on with their life careless about how their father was.

Needless to say, he suffered from severe depression. He never ment to cause the accident, everything that day for him had gone completely wrong.
