Chapter 8

Amelia was sitting on the floor with Romeo just a few feet away from her. She looked interestingly at him as though she was trying to figure something out about him. Her bright yellow hair was a mess and it was clear that she had just gotten out of bed. Even though it was 15:00, she rarely got any rest so I was glad that she was taking the time to sit with Lexy and I.

Lexy was leaning lazily against my bed with a half lit joint in between her lips. She was wearing a thong and an old shirt that she ripped to make into a crop top. Her hair was in an entangled mess and her eyes were bright red.

I was sitting on my yoga mat and Romeo's tail was brushing against my thighs as I had my eyes closed trying to meditate. The smell of incense and weed was strong in the room. I had a thick joint in between my own lips, breathing it in every few moments.

I liked to meditate while I was high because it seemed to calm me down even more.

"There's no way this damn truck you call a pet is "an overgrown husky"," Lexy let out in a slurred voice as I heard her release pent up air, "and what kind of music do you meditate to? Isn't it supposed to be calm and...beautiful?" Lexy continued in her questions.

I opened my eyes, the world spinning around me but I managed to finally meet her eyes with a silly smile, "this music is calm and beautiful," Oddwin- Boredom was playing and it had been on repeat for the past hour since Lexy and Amelia decided to sit with me.

"I do like the song," Amelia spoke up in her delicate and sweet voice and I gave her a smile. My eyes looking over her attire of an oversized shirt that served as her sleeping attire, "and don't judge Romeo like that, he's not fat...he's just...big boned," Amelia said as she beamed at Romeo and outstretched her hand towards his snout.

Romeo wasn't bothered because he wasn't paying attention. He had his head down, his tail casually swinging across my naked thigh and his body limp and relaxed.

Maybe the drugs had gotten to him, thankfully, I had stood up to open the windows some time back.

Just like my friends, I was in more relaxed clothing. I had just come back from performing and it had been a much shorter day than what I would usually spend outside. I was more in a rush to come home and meditate.

When I meditated, I always wore as little as I could. I wanted to get in touch with my own soul, emptying my thoughts and anything burdening me, whether physical or mental.

"Now that's more like it," Lexy let out as I heard Post Malone's voice come from my speaker. It was the song Sunflower and judging by how much slower it was, I knew it was the slowed down version of the song.

I adjusted my sports bra a bit before I moved my thong from going so far up my ass it felt like it was inside me. I relaxed after that, and decided to uncross my legs and just stretch them out in front of me.

If it wasn't for Lexy and Amelia being here, I would've been completely naked but I would settle for my thong and my sports bra.

"You seem really interested in Romeo, Amelia," I said with a light laugh as I placed the joint on my ash tray and looked back at her. Amelia seemed entranced by Romeo, her eyes wide and sparkled.

"Well, yes," she nodded her head and adjusted her glasses. She always wore her glasses when she was indoors but when she went to work, she wore contact lenses, "it's because...well, I don't know if I should tell you guys," she said with a bit of nervousness but excitement in her voice.

"Tell us what?" Lexy asked her, both of us interested in what Amelia had to say.

She sighed but smiled, "well, this town has kind of had some...rumours, I guess you could call them, that have been circulating for a long time about," she paused leaning forward as though she was about to tell us a secret, "wolves."

"Wolves?" I repeated in question, not too shocked by the revelation. Wolves were wolves, so what?

She nodded, "yes, wolves, but not exactly just wolves," an excited grin grew on her face, "I'm talking werewolves."

"Werewolves?" Lexy repeated again, in the same tone that I had.

We both looked at Amelia in question and a bit of boredom. It didn't seem like this would be very educational but it was interesting and entertaining for now.

"Since the both of you haven't been staying here all your lives like I have. I've heard a lot about these werewolves. It's basically a bunch of scary stories told around the fire whenever we go camping in our backyards or have the occasional Halloween party," Amelia began to explain, "it's believed that we have a pack of wolves staying in the woods that surround Vityhill. Wolves that are able to turn into humans and even stay in the transition between both forms."

"Whoa," I breathed out but she held up her hand to indicate that she wasn't done talking.

"Apparently some kind of peace treaty was signed many, many years ago that separated us from them. The humans stayed on this side and the werewolves stayed in the forest. As long as we don't go into the forest, we're fine."

"Well, has anyone ever gone into the forest?"

"I'm not going to lie, nobody is willing to risk it. We just stay out of the woods and if you want to try your luck then that's for you to deal with," Amelia answered Lexy.

"Werewolves don't exist, though," I tried to reason with Amelia because it seemed like she really believed this.

Amelia just looked at Romeo, his ear slightly twitched upwards but his eyes remained closed, "apparently the wolves are as big as cars, they're abnormally large...a whole lot like Romeo, Pandora."

We all looked at Romeo and I scoffed but shook my head, "no ways Romeo is a werewolf. Maybe he could be a wolf but not a werewolf. That's all teenage series kind of stuff," I said with confidence even though somehow my mind went to the man that I see in my dreams.

Amelia gave a short shrug, "I guess so," she said as she ran her hands through her hair to try and calm down the angry tangled mess, "I should get ready for work."

"I should too," Lexy groaned as she threw her head back and began to complain about working when all she wanted to do was smoke weed and live her life.

I zoned out a bit, my eyes going back to Romeo as I looked him over. He was uncomfortably large, he towered over me in his wolf form and even when he was lying down he was at almost eye level with me.

It was a wonder how such a creature fit into my tiny ass car but he always had to squeeze himself inside it. He would protest a bit but he would be very happy when I started driving because the wind blew through his fur.

As my eyes looked over his body, I was suddenly reminded of the bandage that had been wrapped around his leg the day that I had found him. I looked over his form, not even finding his bandage or any sign of previous damage.

I remembered how he looked to be in so much pain and this was only a few days ago. It couldn't have been more than five days ago and I swear I never saw it again after the first night that Romeo had stayed with me.

Maybe the bandage slipped off his leg somehow when we were walking around or he tore it off himself because it was irritating him. I should take him to the vet and even though I would hate to spend money, I'll do it for my favourite and only pet.

I need to get his leg checked out and have it repaired, it had been bleeding a lot and even though there wasn't any visible blood, there might be some severe damage that needs to be looked into.
