Ch 10 : The Conclave
When I came out of the hall, I finally got the chance to pay attention to my surroundings. Surprisingly I wasn't being held as a captive anymore. The constructions had changed so much in the past few years. But there were way more people outside than I imagined and it was quite clear by their attires that they weren't from this pack.
Even though no one was with me to put cuffs on my hands but there was a feeling of continuously being watched. Guessed I was a prisoner after all.
And so looking for Alex still made sense more than trying to free Edward by myself. Besides all the people were moving busily. It seemed like they were preparing themselves for a festival.
Alex had vanished without a trace. I never saw him after that morning's little argy-bargy.

"I can help," I said. Everyone stared at me in disbelief. "How?" Zen questioned. "Not gonna save your ass to get killed," I answered calmly. Sounds of brutal confrontations and growls were coming from outside. The palm over my mouth stifling me was slowly withdrawn. Edward was right in front of me. However, he was calm. "Shush," Alex hushed, placing his index finger over his lips. The cave had opened into the woods on the other side, just above the tunnel that we used. The war hadn't concluded. The intensity of it made the ceiling of the cave shake violently. After walking for a while, we discovered the exit, covered in thick bushes. Alex began to move them to the side rapidly. Edward and I helped him to make it fast. As far as I could fathom, we were just outside the pack wall that was destroyed earlier. We came out of the tunnel, in an open space. The sky was covered with dark clouds. The moon wasn’t visible, making it even darker. We looked back to find the sea of blood, and the corpses lying on the ground.
