Samantha POV
We finally arrived at werewolf Island. It is called The Grey Guardians. I have never in my life seen anything more beautiful in my life. The Grey Guardian Island is more like an open field. There are flowers of all shapes and sizes littered all over the land.It is the first time that I have seen a place so open. On the human island, there are only buildings. There was no place to even go and play as a child.Kaleb helped me get off the boat and onto the dock. My first reaction was to run through the field and that is exactly what I did.I let go of Kaleb's hand and just started running. There was so much screaming behind me but I just had one goal in my head. For the first time in my life, I felt completely free. I stopped in the centre of the flower field and started twirling. A giggle burst forth from my chest. I felt like a little kid. I fell down and continued my laughter as I lay there.I don't know how long I have lain there. I just closed my eyes and felt the sun on my face. It felt like a few minutes when I heard footsteps getting closer.I opened my eyes and see Kaleb coming into my view. He had a smile on his face when he sat down next to me."I am so sorry for acting like a child." I looked down at my hands."Never be sorry for doing something that makes you happy. I guess you are not used to the open space we have here on the island." I looked back up into his eyes. I was so sure he was going to be mad at me. I still have to learn that Kaleb is not cruel."You are right. On the human island, there is no place for kids to play, and even if there is, we are sent to school from an early age. There are only buildings as far as the eye can see. I do not know what happened. I guess the child in me saw the flowers and decided that she wants to come out and play." I gave Kaleb a smile. How can a werewolf understand just what we as humans go through in our lifetime?"I understand. This is why I stopped the guards. They thought you were about to run away. We need to get going. The sun will be setting soon and driving on our roads at night is extremely dangerous." I nod. Kaleb stood up and helped me onto my feet.As we gt closer to the car, I can see the guards are already in it. waiting for us. All of them were scowling and just looking straight up grumpy.Once we climb into the car, the guard started the car and set off over the mountain. The sun has just set when we stopped in front of a big house. Kaleb explained to me on our way here that he will show me around the following day. He first wants me to settle in before I meet the other slaves.Kaleb took my hand and led me towards the room I would be staying in.He opened the door and I was blown away by the beauty of it. It was decorated in soft shades of pink."Why don't you get settled in. I will wait for you downstairs. Come down once you are ready." Kaleb didn't wait for my answer. He closed the door behind him, and I was left alone.I pulled my suitcase up to the closet and started to unpack. This house looks much bigger on the inside. I always hear a woman saying that men are messy creatures. What I have seen up until now is that there is nothing out-of-place in Kaleb's house. It only took me a few minutes to unpack. I didn't have that much stuff. My clothes only took up half of the closet. It kind of makes me feel sad.I only have about 6 books to put in the bookcase. Once I was done I went down in search of Kaleb. I retraced the steps that we took and I found Kaleb in the kitchen."What kind of takeaway do you want?" Kaleb is looking through what looks like colourful papers."I don't know what take-away's is." Kaleb slowly looks up with disbelief."Are you serious? How do you not know what take-away's is?" His "Well, we didn't learn about them in school." I try to search my brain. I don't recall ever learning about take-away's."Well, that is a damn shame. Take-away's are only the most delicious food you will ever find on this planet. There is so much I need to teach you. Why don't I order us some pizza? This will be your first lesson." Kaleb picks up his phone and starts dialling a number that I can't see. Once he finished the call he came back to me. He placed the colourful papers in front of me."You see these are menu's for takeaway places here on the island. All the places is owned by the werewolves in the pack. If I want takeaways I will tell you in the morning and then you can call somewhere in the afternoon. When they ask you where they should deliver, you just say Beta Kaleb's house. Everyone knows where I live so it will be fine.""I will do that. What kind of takeaways do you get?"Kaleb spent the rest of the time we are waiting for the pizza discussing what kind of take-away's you get. All the different kinds of food sound so delicious. I know why we never had takeaways at the school. Most of it is fried in oil and just sound so unhealthy. The doorbell rang and Kaleb stood up to answer the door. He came back with a square box in hand. There was a young man behind him. The young man had a smile on his face."Samantha this is Nathan. He is one of the omega's sons. His father owns the pizza place.""Hi, Samantha. It is nice to meet you. Welcome to the pack." He holds out his hand to me and I shake it."I don't think I am part of the pack." I smile at Nathan."O, please. It doesn't matter you are here for a week or ten years. You are part of the pack now." Nathan saidsmiling even bigger than before."You know Nathan is right. We treat everyone like family. It doesn't matter if you are bought as a slave or if you were born into this pack." Kaleb places a plate in front of me.We chatted for a few more minutes before Nathan had to leave to go back to work. Kaleb and I took our plates into the living room and sat down in front of the television.Samantha POV We are currently sitting in front of the television. Kaleb opened up something that he calls N*****x. I didn't know what N*****x was until he explained to me that it is an app that you can watch movies on. It is a foreign concept to me. I cannot remember if I have ever even watched television. I remember seeing one in the masters home but it was never on. "So what do you want to watch? Do you want to watch a movie or a series?" Kaleb was slowly flipping through what he called the start-up page looking for something to watch. "I don't know. We didn't have screen time at school, so I don't know what kind of movies there are. I think this is the first time I watched something on the television." I look down at my hands. I feel so uncultured. Kaleb slowly turned towards me with a scowl on his face. He has a look between disappointment and anger on his face. He sighs and takes my hand. "There is so much that I to te
Samantha POVI woke up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I sat up on the couch and I realized that I have some aches and pains everywhere in my body. Well, what do you expect when you fall asleep on the couch?I rub my neck to relieve some tension."I see you are finally awake." I look up and see Kaleb with a smile on his face. He hands me a cup of coffee. My first sip was almost like manna from the heavens. I have never tasted anything more delicious in my life."I have some meetings that I have to attend today. Will you be okay here by yourself?" Kaleb has a worried look on his face."You don't have to worry about me. I will be fine. This will give me time to familiarize myself with the house. I can also make a list that we can go and get at the grocery store." I smile at him."By now everyone knows that we have arrived at the island, so you can expect some slaves to come and visit. Maybe more like check you out. You do not have to co
Samantha POV The girls and I continued with our life stories. It was weird to know how many of us were abandoned by our parents as soon as we went to school. I guess if you were born a girl you don't mean anything to the human community until you retire and can actually have kids of your own. "O, dear. Will you look at the time? We have to get going. We still need to get ready for the BBQ. We also need to go help with the setup." Carra gave me a kind smile. Carra and the other stood up to leave. "Thank you so much for stopping by. I am happy to learn that not everything I was taught in school has been the truth." I smile at Carra. She is the first woman in my life with whom I can feel a bond. She is almost like a mother figure in my life. I am happy here. "What do you mean dear?" Carra looks confused. "They taught us that you have to look out for yourself. Those other slaves will backstab you as soon you let your guard down
Samantha POV It has been two hours, and we are still busy with introductions. I absolutely hate it. If I have to smile for much longer my face is going to stay in this position. When I said that it is almost like Kaleb is introducing his girlfriend to his family, I was joking. Now it does not feel like joking anymore. There is no way in hell that I am going to remember all these people's names. The first couple I met was the Alpha and Luna of this pack. I must have sounded so stupid when I told them that I thought they were ruled by a King. Kaleb patiently explained to me that there are too many werewolves to only be governed by a king. There are a couple of packs scattered all over the island. Once a month all the Alphas get together and give the King a rapport of what is going on in their territory. What kind of trouble there is and what can be done to help each other. When I heard of the love there is in the
King Ate POV These incompetent fools. I have told them time and time again not to fall in love. Love is weakness. Women make you weak. Just look at my father. He found his mate and died trying to save her. I do realize that she was my mother, however, the love he had for her made him weak. He would still be alive if he didn't lose his head and jumped in front of a bullet. I have heard the rumours flying around the caves. I know my people want me to find my mate and have babies. This is never going to happen. Not even to mention that there hasn't been a female dragon mate born in almost two hundred years. Samantha POV I walked into the kitchen and made us some coffee. Kaleb already went to his office and told me to come to him once I was done. I made my way into the office. Kaleb was busy typing away at his computer. I placed his cup next to him and went to sit on the chair in front of the desk. Ka
Samantha POV Kaleb and I walked out of the house together. The same car that bought me here the first day was back in the driveway. A guy I never met before climbed out of the driver's side and gave Kaleb the keys. Without a word he just turned around and left. "Well, that was weird. Who is he?" I asked Kaleb. "That is one of the soldiers. He doesn't talk much. Not even to his parents, so don't take it too personally." Kaleb and I got into the car. He asked me to fasten my seat belt. Kaleb pulled away and onto the road. It took us only ten minutes to stop in town. I have never seen so many shops in one place. Kaleb stopped in front of what my first master described as a supermarket. "Did you remember to bring the shopping list?" Kaleb asks while getting out of the car. "No, I didn't, but I do remember what we need." Kaleb locked the car and together we walked into the shop. We walked fast through the shop. Kaleb was pushing the cart while I dropped things in it. From the look K
Samantha POV You can't miss something you never had, or, so I thought. When you see that same something, you start to miss it. It never really bothered me that I had no parents, I always had Joan. She always filled the family role in my life, but she is not here anymore. Now that I have seen the love Kaleb and his parents had for each other it made me start to think about what happened to my parents. Did they not ant me anymore? Are they dead? Who just leaves a little girl next to the road? I was two years old. I was small and defenseless. My master told me he did everything in his power to find them. I don't know if I believe him, I mean he could have lied to me. What if he told the truth. Maybe he couldn't find my parents and then decide to raise me all by myself. I have a lot to be thankful for. He didn't always show me love, but he did put a roof over my head. "Earth to Samantha. Are you okay? You have been awfully quiet." I look up from my plate and see that Kaleb's parents ha
Kaleb POV I watch as Samantha left the room. I did not know she was abandoned when she was small. When she talks about her master, I just thought she was like so many girls out there. Some parents ask a master to take over looking after a girl, so they don't have the job to tell them why they are being sold. This is why I wish I could help humans more than I do now. I cannot imagine selling my child just so that I can have some food on the table. It is horrible. There has to be a way to help them. Why can't we just hire people as we did with Carra and her husband? I have a meeting with the Alpha in the morning. Maybe I can talk to him and come up with ways to help the humans. I walk into my room and look around once again. I think I have an idea. Samantha did a great job cleaning up my room. I didn't realize how messy it was until she cleaned it from top to bottom. There is this fresh smell in my room. I don't know where it is coming from, but to be honest, it helps me sleep. I hav
